My 7 year old son had a hard time moving in the middle of the school year and was struggling with his self- confidence and as a mother my heart was breaking. Until I found a local treasure Lewis Karate School. From the moment I was first greeted on the phone it was clear that this was more than a Karate School, this was something special! Fida was so kind and so helpful over the phone that it made me want to reach through the phone and hug her. When I finally got the chance to meet her in person, she was even more delightful and if I owned my own business I joke with her I would try to steal her away, she makes you feel so welcome and her smile is so genuine you can't help but love her spirit. Meeting Mr. Lewis was a true honour and the moment he introduced himself to my son and corrected my son's use of "Yup" to "Yes Sir", I was hooked. His way of making your child listen and his passion in instilling respect not only towards instructors, but to MOMMY and DADDY, well I just can't thank him enough After, one encounter my son was sold on being polite and remembering to thank me for everything, he wanted Karate school and he learned respect will afford you many things. I noticed my son change in a matter of one week, his passion has become this school, he attends 6 days a week, without having to be asked, he is begging to go. He no longer worries about whether he is the best at something, fearing if he isn't the cool kid, he now appreciates that everyone is different and Karate has given him something to call his own and be proud of. I beam when I see him bow to go onto the floor, and marvel as he immediately starts doing sit ups and push ups before class has even started. Once on the floor the positivity and genuine care that the Instructors give to all the children is beyond words. I would go just for positive reinforcement after a rough day to hear Mr. Devon and his shouting "Indominable Spirit". This is not just a Karate school, yes they train the beauty and determination of Martial Arts, but it is so, so much more. The Instructors take the time to know each child, offering encouragement and teaching them that it isn't about who is better, it is about each individual being the best that they can be. If these words do not peek your curiosity, I will leave you with one last touching story. I noted that without fail every night when class was over my son would wait to be the last one to "high five" his instructors after class and then watched as he pounced on them with gigantic hugs. I asked him after class one night, Noah , why do you hug everyone after class, and these were his words "because mom, they are awesome teachers and I just love them for making me happy". I could go on forever as to why I love this school and everything about it, I would recommend everyone to try it once and could easily guarantee you would never want to leave. I wish I could give these wonderful people the world for what they have brought into my son's life, and into my own, they are like an extended family that we have been blessed to find.

I was on a temporary work contract just south of Barrie and I was not even a resident of Ontario. This was in July 2014 and I was leaving Ontario permanently that following October. I told the owner this as we conversed. he made me sign a punch of papers and made small talk. Unfortunately that month I only made it out there twice since my work schedule required me to work late most of the days that summer. I assumed I had only agreed to a one month membership since I was given a monthly rate. So I stopped going after that month. I was then contacted by there bookkeeper about paying my dues and I told her I'd pay for the month. Again being busy with my work in Cookstown some day working till past sunset I hard issues making it out. I was contacted again and this time she explained to me that I was in for a year's worth of membership! I lost my shit why the hell would I want to buy a year's worth of membership when I'll only be in the region for another 3 months!!! I was pissed! nothing I said to the owner would have told him I was interested in a one year membership I even remember telling him I was leaving in the fall! So they send this contract to a debt collector fuckin ass holes. and than I had to pay out a large sum to a debt collector for this to not affect my credit. I tried working it out with the owner but he had a "I don't really care" attitude. These guys are not honorable people. just want you to sign contracts and then pay up. So watch what you sign cause all they want is your money and the'll make you sign anything.

I was a member of this gym until 2012 when I moved out of the province. From July to November 2014,…read morewith no authorization or being in the province, this gym removed 5 payments of $124.30 from my bank account. I have called repeatedly and talked to about 5 different individuals on this issue. Every time I have called, it has been the same thing: "Sorry, but there is nothing I can do for you right now, try calling again in a couple of days when this person should be in. They will be able to help you." I call and there is either no one there or i get the same shit. Now, it is May 2016, and i still have not received any compensation for the money illegally, and without authorization, removed from my bank account. On multiple occasions i have been told checks have been sent in the mail and that was even before I told them my new mailing address in New Brunswick. I was instructed to call today, May 14th if i did not receive a check this week in the mail. Of course it did not come, and of course there has been no one to reach at the gym via the phone. If you wish to go to this gym, be within driving distance so that you can properly harass them if they pull this shit on you.
