Andrew and his team at Kerr Home Services exceeded every expectation. Professional, reliable, and genuinely caring about getting the job done right! They transformed our house with incredible attention to detail and left everything spotless. Communication was excellent throughout, pricing was fair, and the quality of work was perfect. These are the kind of people you can trust and rely entirely on. Thank you, Andrew. read more

We have been using Kerr home services for years and I have recommended them to a number of friends. Andrew responds quickly and hires only very professional workers. When we sold my dad's townhouse a while ago, they came out and did a number of repairs and installations; everything was done on time and with high standards. Recently, Eddie came out to install a new showerhead and do several small jobs. His work was impeccable; he even insisted on cleaning the old shower head that we were planning to keep. He was also able to get a stubborn smoke alarm to work properly! Andrew is our go-to person for all kinds of small jobs around the house. Great company, great crew! read more

I called Kerr Home Services to help remove an antique sink and drain assembly, and replace it with a new vanity, as well as install and vent a new bathroom fan. They sent a fantastic handyman, Mario, the following day, and he did an excellent job. I appreciate the up-front pricing (no surprises when you get your invoice!), the responsiveness, and the quality of the work. Got these guys on speed dial now! read more

Mario came on time, very courteous, respectful of the property and answered all my many questions. He did a fantastic job! I'll gladly use the company again. Thank you again! read more

Over the past year, I have hired Kerr Home Services to help with a few things -- re-grouting floor tile, general odd repairs, fixing a toilet, and repairing the water-damaged ceiling below that toilet : ) Throughout, Andrew, the owner has been communicative and easy to work with, and he was the only service professional who was able to figure out the source of the water that was damaging my dining room ceiling. Vidal has been the handyman on all of our jobs, and he is absolutely fantastic! The quality of his work is high, he explains clearly what he is doing, he thoroughly "tents" around dirty or dusty work, and he is efficient with his time. Also, today, he helped a neighbor in my building push their car from the parking garage to the street because the tow truck wouldn't fit in the garage! Kerr's pricing is a straightforward hourly rate, and they sometime run winter specials to keep the crew busy. Andrew always send a prompt quote that explains the work to be done and the price. This is a good local business with great people. I highly recommend Kerr! read more

I had a very positive experience with this company. I did check the reviews and found that they were inconsistent but decided to give them a chance based on the positive ones. Mario - someone else labeled his grouting one star - did a great job for me. He put up drapery rods and all kinds of things for over three hours and did a wonderful job. I can't vouch for his grouting, but he is a friendly, hard working guy who I'd request next time I need help. Andrew makes communication easy via email and text and is very accommodating. I'm surprised there are some bad reviews. He runs a very professional business and was very reliable. I've dealt with lots of handymen over the years both here in Winnetka and in our other home in California. Happy to have found this business! read more

We hired Kerr a few years ago and our jobs were completed successfully. So we called them again recently to inquire on some basic siding repair issues. Kerr asked for some photos and those were sent. We never heard back from Kerr. A professional company would at least respond to our inquiry. A professional company would at minimum tell us why they can't or won't consider our repairs. We will take our future business elsewhere. We had several other jobs lined up for Kerr but now another more professional company will make that money. read more

This is a delayed post but I hired Kerr after I got a great referral from a friend who used them. Also they were one of the few options that were able to come within 2 weeks of trying to get a company to recaulk, regroute my shower tiles when I had a few days before my things were moved in. The repairman Mario came in and he was nice. He did an okay job on regrouting my shower tiles even though I showed him it was sloppy on some parts and I just had to scrape off some excess on my tiles. He did not do a good job on recaulking in my kitchen sink and the area around the kitchen. It was so sloppy around the kitchen sink and messy. I showed him and he said it is hard to access there but then I saw it smeared all over the granite counter tops. When I mentioned that to him, he just told me that I just need to scrape it off. Why do I have to do that when you were the one to leave the mess? After he left I was still very upset and I told the manager and he sent him back to my apartment. Mario came back a few days later to fix it and unfortunately it did not look much better and he still left extra caulk residue smeared on my kitchen counters again. I would give Mario 1, and the 2 stars are for Kevin in trying to fix it and being so responsive but in the end I wasted some of my money. I ended up looking at some youtube clips and I was able to redo the caulking myself. The caulk residue is still on my granite counter tops from Mario and I do not want to scrape and damage my counter tops but still makes me upset. My friend had a good review so I would just be careful on who they send over. read more

Services: Fan and light installations, plumbing, various handy man tasks, and assembling IKEA furniture. Positive: Professionalism/friendliness, punctuality, responsiveness, quality. Our family highly recommend Kerr Home Services. Andrew (the owner) is great to work with. He responds quickly to questions/requests, is consistently accommodating, and highly professional. We worked with both Jerry and Mario and so appreciated them both. They went out of their way to be helpful, and we could not be happier with the work completed. We 100% recommend Kerr Home Services. read more

I have used Kerr Home Services on several occasions - In Chicago and in Evanston. They are reliable, fairly priced and do excellent work. Mario converted a closet for me into a space for my washer and dryer. It was very well done, well priced and I am so glad to have it. I thought it would take longer than it did. Thanks Mario. It made a difference in the value of my condo. Don't hesitate. read more

Great work and very honest price. I had a tenant moved out and left a few damages including a damaged chimney, a broken drywall, etc. Andrew came out and fixed everything - very professional and very good. Would definitely use him again . read more

Kerr Home Services is always there when I need them! They have done everything from small paint jobs to repairing a foundation. They are reliable, show up on time, and work until the job is done! Mario is particularly adept at any situation (like my soffit falling). I have been very happy with Kerr's services! read more

What a joke! I scheduled Kerr Handyman services to come on a Thursday morning and no one ever showed up. After calling Andrew Kerr (the owner) and emailing him twice he finally got back to me, apologized, and promised to send someone on Saturday. Guess what? Another no call, no show. Save your time and energy and try someone else. These guys are unreliable. read more

I used Kerr home services to have a RO water filter installed under my sink. The handyman was punctual and very nice to deal with. Although he did run into some issues that took longer then what was expected...Kerr was very understanding and took this into consideration. The work got done and we are very happy with the water filter. Things happen and that's when you see how good a company is. Andrew Kerr, provided great customer service and made sure I was happy. I would highly recommend Kerr Home services. APatel read more

I'm keeping the fifth star in reserve just in case we have another project that can showcase all of their many skills. But we were very happy with their work. Our project was fairly straightforward--a window installation. They did a beautiful job, and I was really impressed by the care they took with our delicate, easy-to-scratch floors. They didn't just put down tarps--they taped down thick paperboard. They managed to get the old windows out without damaging our walls, too. The guys who did most of the work were very pleasant--and apologetic when they were running a little behind because the discovery of a headless corpse and a bomb blocked their access to the lumber yard for a little while. Go figure. I'm not the one who did the hiring, scheduling, etc., but I think Andrew tended to return phone calls quickly, and communication was good. Plus they showed up on time and all of that other stuff that we all appreciate. read more

I've used Kerr Home Services multiple times, and the work is always top notch. My long lists have included the full range of repairs - plumbing, electrical, caulk/grout, picture hanging and more. I've had the same crew member each time, and he is extremely skilled and works hard and fast. He finds solutions for everything. Andrew Kerr runs a very efficient business. read more

I'm super impressed with Kerr Home Services. We had a weird issue where I needed an exterior access panel door made in a short timeframe. I called one afternoon and they were able to send someone out the next morning at 9am. We explained what we wanted, and Mario took care of the rest. I was happy with the price and it did not take as long as I anticipated. I also tacked on a couple of other small tasks and he completed these with ease. Overall, Kerr Home Services saved me the hassle of trying to DIY something or get quotes from more expensive contractors when what I needed was a solid, skilled handyman. read more

My old garage door broke on a very cold day. Andrew told me he could not send someone out to work in a cold garage when the temp was around zero, but sent Pepe out on Monday morning. When I tried to open the garage door again, the damage became worse. But Pepe formulated a plan. He repaired the door and enforced it so it would work until warmer days when he could use glue to make more repairs. I am extremely happy with his work and Andrew's management. I will always call Kerr Home Service when I need a handyman. read more

After reading positive reviews, I called Kerr to adjust an entrance door. I'm disappointment with the unprofessional customer service. Repair person did not show up at the scheduled time nor call to cancel the appointment. I lost a day of work waiting for this service. I would not recommend. read more

Professional and reasonable - would hire them again. Good quality work, flexible working with little kids in the house, and pretty efficient. read more

Our older home has a lot of character but also requires a lot of work (fixtures, flooring, plumbing, electric, wear and tear, renovations, you name it). We have had many experiences with handymen over the years. Many of these experiences have been positive, but nobody compares to the work we have had done by Kerr Home Services-- particularly in customer service and professionalism. Ever since we discovered Kerr Home Services, no project has been left incomplete. All calls have been immediately returned. Scheduling has always been easy and the workers come exactly when they say they will. Opinions and concerns are taken very seriously and immediately addressed. We have worked with three of Andrew's workers in addition to Andrew himself and everyone has been kind, prompt, respectful, talented, and hard-working. This team provides quality work and we plan to use them moving forward with all of our home service needs. read more

Kerr Home Services - Mike built this outdoor bench for us. - Handyman Near Me - Evanston, Illinois

These guys are redoing my kitchen right now, as well as creating a custom concrete countertop. We could not be happier with the work so far. The workers are totally professional, and so easy - and fun - to work with. I recommend KHS very highly. read more

Honest. Thorough. Hardworking team. Andrew and his team stand behind their product. I've had a good and not so good experience with with Kerr. I judge them by how they made the not so good experience right...and they did. 5-star. Recommend. read more

This is the second time we've hired Kerr and I'm very happy with their work. They show up on time, complete the project, and clean up after themselves. This time we had some plumbing work done. And I was very impressed with the care they took not to track snow into the house. The job was finished in one day and everything works perfectly now. read more

No supervision, incomplete work, delays, bad follow up. A minor kitchen remodel. But what a giant pain. One aspect: install a butcher block counter top. Yes, it was installed. But the edges were left not sanded. Pencil marks were left on the surface. Wood filler is showing. And they took the cabinet drawers apart to install it. I guess it's my job to put them back together? This was like buying a car where everything was extra. Oh, you wanted the counter top finished instead of just installed? And they disappeared at times with the excuse that they had other jobs. That's exactly how I felt: my job was not worth their time. I don't think the owners of the firm ever came over to look at progress other than to pick up a check. Buyer beware: get very specific language about what you expect when it is "done." Don't allow them to give you a loose bid (they underbid the job and I ended up paying as much as the people that would have completed the work well that I didn't choose). And plan on supervising them. Or, better, don't hire them. read more

I've had two very good experiences with Kerr (for minor repairs). Andrew is prompt to respond, upfront about services and charges, and seems to be an honest guy. I also want to commend one of their handymen (Pepe) in particular. He is extremely polite, professional, and does a very good job with electrical projects. If you need a light switch or outlet fixed or replaced, he's a great choice. read more

Kerr Home Services is the best in the business. Most places won't consider the small jobs everyone needs done around the house. Andrew is honest, trustworthy and gets the job done. He is now on my speed dial. I can't say enough good things about him. read more

Andrew Kerr and his crew are amazing. Their work is technically precise, reliable and creative. They can make the mundane beautiful (kitchens and bathrooms). I have seen several of his projects and would love to have any one of them in my house. I trust them with my home, and I trust them to be honest with pricing and materials. The crew seems very loyal, which is a positive on Andrew Kerr, the owner. read more

I chose Andrew's firm because of its innovative ad image: Andrew shown with many arms, like statues of a Hindu god, with a different tool in each hand: wrench, hammer, saw, etc. I've not regretted it. Andrew installed or fixed so many things in my old house and each was superlatively done. He bought and put in a sturdy and handsome new garage door of metal. He fixed the 1940s exhaust fan in my kitchen. He put in a cat door. He put in ceiling fans and new bathroom and outdoor lights. He and his co-workers put on and take off the heavy storms and screens each year and clean the gutters. The firm also now can put in new kitchens and bathrooms. They can paint your house. The workers are reliable and interesting: a city planner, a musician, etc. They work efficiently, a little cheaper than market contractor prices. read more

I used Andrew for a bathroom remodeling project and it went very well. Andrew's team is polite, professional, and they do great work. Plus they did a great job minimizing the mess. His estimate was fair, I didn't think it was high at all. And he came in on budget. Overall, I had a very good experience with him. read more
