Every time you go, they require you to show your license and insurance. They go over the same info as echeck so I won't bother to do that again. It's repeating the same info and doesn't make sense to do it twice. Staff is friendly but they need a better way to check in instead of having to go around the long rope and around again to the counters. It's difficult for walker and wheelchairs and anyone who has trouble walking. read more

This last trip list a star here. I was on time for my visit....but wasn't seen for about 40 minutes after the time. I was back for a physical but also because an issue I had 3 months prior still wasn't resolved and I am still in a great deal of pain. I am not thrilled with how long it is taking to diagnose and fix what is wrong with my knee. It has been very hard trying to get around when it's very swollen and very sore. read more

Compassionate care for vulnerable seniors. NOT. My husband and I (age 77) recently moved to a seniors facility in Burlington and need to find a new primary care doctor. I called Kernodle Clinic for an appointment and the woman who answered the phone took a lot of our information, then out of the blue asked if either of us take opioid drugs. I told her honestly that my husband's previous doctor had prescribed them for a chronic pain condition. She informed me loftily that "WE do not prescribe opioids," and that he would have to go to "pain management" for that. Well, sure, if that's your policy. Maybe your doctor can prescribe an alternative medication? Or refer us to an appropriate pain management facility? That's one of the things primary care doctors do. But it was not to be. The woman magnanimously said she would "send our request back" (back where? to the doctors for a decision?), but I'm not sure what happened because we never heard another word. No one ever called us back, even to deny us an appointment. So we're still looking for a doctor, but it obviously won't be at Kernodle. Which may be just as well, since I don't want to deal with a medical facility where the RECEPTIONIST makes decisions about peoples' health care. read more

He was absolutely everything I was looking for in a primary care doctor. He was very personable, and he listened to everything I had to say. He answered all my questions. He was great!! My mother was in your office on December 19th and saw a PA named Miriam McLaughlin. My mother has complained of excruciating back pain for weeks and you have done nothing to help her. My brother took her back to his home in Virginia on December 29th to see doctors there and in less than an hour, they found a significant rib fracture. First of all, she needs to see a MD moving forward, not a PA. Second of all, you provided substandard care to the point she had to go out of state just to be treated by competent medical professionals. Shame on all of you for failing her. Do better. Good Dr. Bad blood lab! very poor experience yesterday at the Duke blood lab. I was given a card and asked to step in to the lab for bloodwork. The card said stat. The phlebotomist argued with me that I needed a pink slip which I was not given. She was rude and told me that I would have to wait so I stood there with my cane and excruciating back pain and not offered a seat. I turned around and went back to the doctors main office where advised they wouldn't see me without a pink slip. I then went into my appointment with Dr. O. I was then sent to the lab at the end of my appointment where the phlebotomist had me seated at station three and as we were approaching the end of the blood withdrawal a patient stepped out of the restroom and handed the phlebotomist a bottle of her urine. So my hand was covered with the girls one hand with a needle and her other hand she grabbed the urine bottle had to set the bottle of urine down on the table and continue with my treatment. She then had to use both hands to finish removing the needle. At this time I was dumbfounded read more

If you ask to wait outside be prepared to sprint back so they don't skip you in line. I asked if it was possible for me to wait outside after already spending an hour in the waiting room. I received my call and began my stroll back only to be told I had been skipped it's now 30 minutes after I was skipped and the girls behind the counter are loving every minute of it. I wish I could give 0 stars. My teenage son had a broken leg. I took him to Alamance Regional Hospital where they gave him an xray. He was in so much pain, and they didn't even offer a wheelchair. There was one kind nurse who helped him through the Xray procedure and once they saw what bad shape he was in, she had some of the paramedics carry him back to my car. That was much appreciated. We needed to see an orthopedic doctor. The pediatrician couldn't get him in to see anyone .. what?? My kid is in pain. I said "What about Kernodle Clinic". We got an appointment, but we didn't see a doctor, we saw a PA. While we were waiting to be seen, we witnessed the PA cursing out the radiologist (in front of my child). I was shocked by the expletive language he used in front of my kid. We finally saw the PA, and he didn't even show me the xrays. I should have insisted. He said that my child had a broken leg. I asked if it was on the growth plate. He said "yes". He put on a cast and sent us home. The cast literally fell apart in 2 days (we followed all instructions and covered it up so that it did not get wet). We went back in, and he said "my bad" and put on a new cast. I demanded a referral to UNC orthopedics. The doctors at UNC took great care of my son. You need to get out of Alamance County for good medical care. read more

I have been at this clinic several times and every time it was a positive experience. On my last visit I saw one of the PAs. I was treated with respect and kindness. I have never had the kind of experience others listed in these reviews. Dr. Mark Miller is a kind, caring and competent doctor. I'm glad he is my primary care physician. read more

Avoid this place at all cost....Let me rephrase that......be warned at what this place will charge you. I went in for a routine check up. Wasn't feeling well so I decided to go see if I possible had the Flu. Called ahead of time and informed the Woman who answered the phone that while I did have Insurance, nothing would be paid until I reached my Deductible. I needed a TOTAL cost of what it would cost so that I could go ahead and pay it all and have it applied to my Deductible. She informed me that the TOTAL cost for the Visit would be Fifty Dollars and that would go towards what ever Deductible I had. Went ahead and paid the money just to be seen. After everything was done I once again questioned them if there was any additional cost for the Blood Work or Test they ran. Was told No it was covered by the Office visit fee I paid. Nope, low and behold three weeks later I get a bill in the mail saying I owe them additional money because they had to file it on my Insurance to see what they paid. Hello, they were told point blank that the Insurance doesn't pay anything until I meet my 650 Deductible. Called them today and was told, "Sorry we can't take your word for it about the Insurance, we still have to file it to see what they pay". Now I am stuck with a Bill that I feel I should have been told about when I asked the NUMEROUS times I was in the Office. Billing says they could have told me what the cost for the procedures I had would have costed if I didn't have Insurance but since I have Insurance they have no way of knowing what the procedures cost. I have seen doctors at both Cone in Greensboro and Burlington. I have also seen at least 4 doctors at Kernodle, so I think I have a good feel for medical treatment. I thought all of them were great--except for one. I won't bother name the doc or go into details. Suffice it to say they were at Kernodle and I'll just never use that person again. All of the rest of the doctors I've seen were great and caring. I did have to wait a very long time for one of them, but given the type of doctor, it was understandable. All of the doctors and nurses I've seen were patient and answered questions and always get back to me when I call or use mychart. I have no complaints. I would have given them a 5 if not for that one doctor. read more

My husband and I are very sick and new to the area, so we do not have a family doctor yet. I have been searching for an urgent care to go to and every single one has terrible reviews. I very much appreciate that people tell us where not to go, just wish that we could find where to go. Is there any place that IS good? We love this town and have found it to be one of the nicest towns we've ever lived in. We travel a lot with his job and know Burlington has many wonderfully nice people here, so why are all the doctors and their employees so rude? Can anyone suggest where to go? I rate this Urgent Care as a 5! Glenda the RN is exceptional. Very professional and caring. Dr. Scott Eleston, an excellent physician who ordered a CBC, xray and breathing treatment for severe bronchitis. He was very concerned and listened to me. He also ordered the drugs I needed to get better. Not sure why other people on Yelp are so critical except maybe they are hard to please! Go wait in an ER for 5 hours to be seen and treated and you will realize how much better your Urgent Care visit went!! read more

I've seen many doctors at Kernodle Clinic and have only stayed with one, and that's because Dr. Fleming the pulmonary doctor is needed incase I have to go into hospital. First Dr. Fleming: he see's you so fast! Doesn't sit down and you might as well forget asking questions. My last trip I asked about a sleep study he said I didn't need one and I got up front to check out and he was scheduling one? Plus I had to go out of my room and find him to even ask. I was also seeing Dr. Fowler for my feet hurting. He did X-rays and found nothing. Told me to follow up in about a month if no improvement he did do rheumatoid test? Anyway I cried for a couple of weeks with pain. Went back to see a PA in internal medicine where they treated me for gout. I asked if they thought I had gout they said no? Finally fed up with these incompetent doctors. Went to triangle orthopedics in Durham where I found that I had mutable stress fractures in boot feet. Also my heel and arch was high. This doctor treated me with a 1/2 inch heel lift and special shoes. All I can say is that I'm not crying in pain anymore. Now Doctor Anderson: I'm Defiantly not impressed!! I've been seeing Dr. Anderson I think? He was suppose to be my family doctor, but I could never get an appointment with him. I always got a PA or went to urgent care. My diagnosis were always wrong!! I would just about always have to follow up with someone else. I finally got a new doctor away from Kernodle Clinic. read more

I too wish I could give Kernodle clinic zero stars. I was seen there 5x in the gastroenterology dept over the course of Nov and December &have yet to find out what's wrong. You're forced to repeatedly come back in for appts b/c they will only take a few mins w/you each visit, instead of seriously trying to get to the root of the problem during your 1st visit. I've never been able to see a real doctor, only a NP, who treats me like my issues are in my head. She (Christiane London) obviously pre-judged me based off my anxiety medication she saw on my medicine list &assumed I'm a hypochondriac (which I'm not) because she spoke to me as if I'm an overreacting, excited small child that she doesn't take seriously. I was by no means anxious or excited, yet she put her hand up & literally condescendingly tells me to "calm down" while I was patiently once again explaining to her the pain in my upper right abdomen, which any real pain usually does cause one to get excited, (esp when its your 3rd visit trying to be taken seriously).. & she then bluntly asks me "Well what is it you want us to do for you, what would make u happy".. This was my 3rd visit &she had all my medical info &my symptoms &should've known what tests to do based off all this info. So I thought to myself, you're the "doctor", you tell me what it is I need done. I didn't go to medical school, I'm just a suffering patient looking to you for answers, idk what it is that needs to be done? So I say, well a catscan &blood tests would be appreciated. So I had to wait another week to get an appt for the scan. She also had told me she noticed I had fever on each visit &that I'd have to go back to my regular family doc to tell him about this &to discuss w/him why this fever keeps happening. I guess she doesn't have the knowledge to figure out why I have it or how to treat it. Unacceptable. &Here I am still randomly running fevers &haven't a clue as to why. Btw, its been 7 weeks since I had the blood tests at Kernodle Clinic &still no word back. I finally got aggravated &called to get my results &the girl that answered sounded irritated &shortly told me if I hadn't heard anything by now then the results are fine. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to get a call if results are normal, I had been previously told that I "would" get a call. So as patients we're suppose to just assume all is well if they wont take the time to call us? So unprofessional. Then I asked for an appt b/c I was having the same symptoms, still no progress as to why, only that my scan showed lots of backed up stool on the right side &nodules on my lungs.. &I told the receptionist I would like to see a doctor to discuss a stool test for bacteria or parasites to help find the problem for my pain, nausea &fever. The girl said they didn't have any upcoming appts &instead had me drive up to get a stool kit that they put in a bag up front for me. The lady that gave it to me when I picked it up didn't even give me any kind of instructions on whether or not to refrigerate, how long before the samples have to be back, along w/a couple other missing important factors etc. So when I took the stool samples to the lab at the medical mall in the hospital, the lab worker told me I did the test incorrectly &also too much time had elapsed before taking the samples in. She was irritated by this &said that Kernodle clinic was supposed to give me instructions &how they've made this mistake repeatedly in the past with other patients, &I was given new test kits &had to do the whole thing over, &drive all the way back once again. Which was 3 weeks ago. &STILL haven't heard results from Kernodle clinic. When I called to ask why its taking so long, the same young rude girl told me I should take the holidays into consideration &that it has prob taken so long because of Christmas & New years. My 1st stool tests were taken at the end of the 2nd week in December. I told her its been weeks &just got irritated &hung up. Its now Jan 13. Still no word &its so frustrating to still suffer with these symptoms &not be any closer to an answer, nor feel like my health is a priority. I guess I'm to assume all is fine since nobody will call me with any results. Yet I still have pain &burning in my upper right abdomen &extreme fatigue. This place does not care about their patients (which they have way too many of, &the wait time is absurd) So if u have serious issues going on, I advise u to go outside of Burlington. Kernodle clinic is def not the place to trust with your health. I'll be going elsewhere. read more

I have seen Dr. Sparks for years and like most people had insurance so I never questioned the cost of anything he did or ordered. I do not have insurance now (thanks Obamacare) and will be paying out of pocket. I have a couple of prescriptions that are nearing the end of refills and he will not call in any more refills until I come to see him. I had the labs done a month ago for him to use during our visit and today I scheduled a visit to go over them so that I can get him to represcibe them for another at least anther year. The problem is I asked them what it will cost just for the office visit since I am paying out of pocket. They have no idea. I talked to several people in the office including the accounting office. All I got was the run around and all they would say is they wouldn't know the cost until after the visit. I told them this is just the most basic checkup a person could get, that I will not consent to any tests being done. They will not tell me the cost of anything until after I have already been there and I will then be on the hook for whatever they say the cost is for the visit. This is madness. I asked to speak to the doctor and it seems everyone's primary role in the office is the run interference so no one ever gets to speak to the doctor unless they are there for an appointment (that they have no idea what the cost of is). This part of the problem with medicine today. This review is not against Dr. Sparks, it is against the whole clinic's way of doing business. read more
