I love this library but hey I love any library! If they dont have the book you want they can have it shipped from another library for free! The reading possibilities are endless! I also love to use their computers. Sometimes I just go in to escape the summer heat by reading a magazine. read more

We don't always have the best facilities in Kern County. This isn't Los Angeles after all. But we do have a great library. The facilities are quite modern from the outside to the inside. They have a good selection of books, both fiction and non-fiction. In addition, they have lots of periodicals. And sometimes I just go to sit down in an air-conditioned place and read some magazines. And the computers work well and I can use them to check out the news on my favorite websites. I'm surprised that someone found the librarians unfriendly. I fine that if you are nice to people they will reciprocate and I have gotten some pretty good suggestions from the librarians. In addition, the location is quite convenient. You can walk to some nearby places to eat and that says a lot for our area where you usually have to drive for long periods of time to get around. So I give them a solid B+ and the price is right! read more

This library doesn't have much of a selection however you can have books shipped from another library to this one so it makes the experience a little more pleasant. If you don't mind waiting for a book for a few days then you'll enjoy this branch. In terms of service they get an "F" from me. I hate going into this place because everytime I go in the librarians are rude and have nasty attitudes when I ask questions. When I first moved to town I attempted to get a library card and the librarian harrassed me because I did not have a California I.D. I explained to her that I just moved to town, showed her my current identification along with some mail addressed to myself at my California address. Still the librarian had a nasty attitude and yelled at me because I could not provide her with a local telephone number. Apparently the "corporate" office gets upset when the local librarians sign up new card holders with an out of state telephone number. read more

You should visit this library for two reasons: 1) to pick up a library card when you first move here and 2) to drop in and pick up the books you've ordered online from other Kern County libraries. Unless you're really into browsing small libraries the physical library experience won't be that great - the building is quite small and cramped, and you have to avoid the homeless people that go in there every day to use the laptops. But the regional selection is good, ordering books from other libraries is free (for now) and when you get there the staff are friendly enough. I really miss the automated check-out system they had in my last town (not only are there always lines here, but if you're checking out Dealing With Erectile Dysfunction For Dummies you're going to have to face a librarian here) but that's California for you I guess. read more

Little Ridgecrest has a great library! Small, bu itt has everything you need and friendly people working. I was happy to see a library so used by the people in town. Not many computers, so if you want to use one you have to wait. read more

Pretty good as far as libraries go. Smallish, but it's a small town. Helpful staff.
