I'm a total newbie to acupuncture, so I was a bit nervous, but Kerith put me at ease. I wasn't sure what to focus on, but I know that I hold a lot of tension in my shoulders, so we started there and after our discussion and looking over my paperwork, Kerith also suggested we do a little work on my headaches and my kidneys. It didn't hurt at all. I felt a teeny pin prick and then nothing. I felt little muscle twinges in my shoulders (which felt like a mini massage actually) and then just calm. When I left I was so mentally relaxed that when I came home I went straight to the couch which is not like this type A personality! The next morning my shoulders definitely felt looser although a little sore - normal since they had gotten a workout, basically. I had a bit of a headache, but that was my own fault. Be sure to drink lots of water before and afterwards - just like you would with a massage. Throughout the day I was somewhat involuntarily standing taller! It was amazing. I wondered why sinks and my keyboard were all of a sudden "so low". My muscles felt looser and I was more aware of when to loosen up. My entire day had a new outlook. Surgery is not an option for me either! Karen explained to me in full what I can reasonably expect from my acupuncture ! My knees hurted whether going up or down the steps. Inflammation kept my knees with limited range of motion. I Used Kerith for a shoulder issue -- I couldn't lift at the gym and it really affected my range of motion. I went in and got trigger point therapy. Oh so painful but in a good way. I have had chronic neck and shoulder pain for as long as I can remember. So long, in fact, that it had become my normal. I had tried acupuncture a few years ago with a Chinese practitioner and had had a terrible experience so I decided it wasn't for me. But the other day the pain got so bad that I decided to give it another go with Kerith at Body Listen Acupuncture and I am SO SO SO SO glad I did! She listened to all of my complaints and specifically addressed the pain I was experiencing with trigger point. I had never even heard of this kind of acupuncture therapy before so I had no idea what to expect but Kerith calmly walked me through everything she was doing. I went to Kerith earlier today with shooting pain down my leg and lower back pain. She was very gentle with the needles and within 4 hours I am feeling so much better!
