It was refreshing to find a station that feels genuinely curated rather than run by some algorithm. An adult format that ranged from classics to newer tunes, which we enjoyed even if many of those new tunes were unfamiliar. For as long as we listened, no commercials and it was nice. They have a whole local program that cranks out the jams. There's no real commercials on this station, just public service announcements, and underwriting announcements. The DJs are fun, and not some corporate dudes in a booth, or some AI generated voice that pipes in endless chatter. Instead, you can get a finger on the pulse of the live music scene around, and they focus on bands who are coming through and playing at venues you can visit around town. The music is much more than just some top 40 hits station, or some corporate run Belo or Clear Channel Communications stationit has the local heart and soul of the city of Dallas. If you don't like the music, give it an hour or two, and they'll have something else on later.

They play too much new stuff, and not enough Merle, Willie, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank... You know, the real country. If Achy Breaky Heart is country, I just wanna hang my head and cry. There's SO MANY commercials on this station. So Many. So Many Commercials. Blah blah blah blah. I'm gonna have some blue eyes cryin' in the rain if I have to hear another McDonald's jingle while waiting for a classic country song. For the most part I really like this radio station. For one I support college radio, always have…read morealways will. I like the music format; some Indie mixed in there, some retro 80's, and most importantly some local stuff like Oso Closo among others...They also play alt country like Drive by truckers, Steve Earl, etc...and some Americana and Folk roots music...Now for the down side, they need to change up the list more often...I hear the same list of the same songs by the same bands pretty often. So I would like if they would change it up sometimes and play something new and fresh. Also another down is the Webpages have NOT been updated in ages!!! And they really don't make good on answering emails...So if you want to contact them I suggest the listener line since I have gotten a hold of them that way. So much potential for this great radio station. I know it's a college station, but come on teach, lets get these kids to update the webpage at least once a month! Anyway, when I was living in Dallas I signed up for the Dallas Morning News and had the worst experience- they charged me for a year and successfully delivered 2 total papers... bizarre. I've had no issues with the Star Telegram. It is always right where it belongs in the middle of my lawn when I wake up Sun & Wed. Also loving the PressPass. I almost mistakenly threw it away, but was excited to learn about the big fat list of restaurant, movie, and event discounts you get. You can't beat buying the Sunday comics and getting rodeo tickets and movie tickets for free.
