Private bathroom was a big plus which we take it for granted in US. I'd rather pay a little extra for a room to have a private bathroom for our comfort.
There was a balcony with seating for two with a view of mountains. We could hear folks having a good time from the nearby biergarten/restaurant, but it all died down around 22:00. For some reason, it was rather quiet on Saturday and Sunday nights. The church (St. Peter und Paul two blocks away) bell rang throughout the night, but it was more soothing than nuisance for me.
Breakfast was excellent in typical Bavarian fashion like freshly baked rolls, meat and cheese plate (photo). You can help yourself to müsli, fresh fruit cups, yogurt, muffins (sweet) besides that. Breakfast lady asks you and will make you eggs and bacon if you want (photo).
Staff were very pleasant, courteous and accommodating. I believe it was a family-owned and operated pension--very nice folks. There was a three-generation family photo from 2010 Passion Play. I understood they will participate again in 2022.
The only thing lacking at this hotel was a restaurant, so we went into town for meals beyond breakfast. No problem. Because of its central location in Oberammergau, you can walk to most of the attractions/restaurants/shops in town. It's very convenient. Limited free parking is available which makes it very convenient.
