Yumi is such an awesome instructor! She has tons of energy and spunk!…read more I attend Yumi's class at Radford High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She makes the class super fun and always has new songs and guest instructors. I love how she encourages us to be active, try our best, and to pursue being a Zumba instructor for those who are interested. Because of her class, around 7 people have become instructors. She makes it a point to give all new instructors time to practice their songs on stage with the class. It gives them great exposure, support, and confidence to go out and run their own Zumba class. The classes at Radford are at 7pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can either buy a punch card for $50 which is good for 10 classes or you can pay $6 at the door. The punch card is good for 3 months so if you plan on coming regularly, this would be a better deal. Yumi is really great at keeping attendees up to date with what's going on in her class. If you ask to be added onto her email list she will email you weekly to inform you about upcoming events she is hosting and even what color she will be wearing so you can match her! If you've ever wanted to try Zumba, Yumi teaches at multiple locations at various times! Here's her schedule: Mondays: Oahu Country Club 9am Honolulu Country Club 12pm Punahou School 5pm Tuesdays: Island Club & Spa 8:30am Honolulu Club (Aqua Zumba) 12:15pm Radford High School 7pm Wednesdays: Aihahi Elem (Zumba kids) 1:30pm Hina Mauka 3:15pm 24Hr Fitness Windward 7pm Thursdays: 24Hr Fitness Windward Zumba Gold 10:45am Radford High School 7pm Fridays: Honolulu Club 12pm

She was energetic and made the classes fun and interactive for the kids. They offer the kids fun projects to work on during down times, which helps keep their minds occupied. My granddaughter has also attended their special dance camps for days when school is out. These classes have been convenient for us. You can even host birthday parties for the kids at the studio. Prices are affordable. Snacks can be purchased for reasonable prices. The center has a small shared parking lot.

I brought my son here because he loves to dance. And they have a free trial class, so why not right?! He was a little shy his first time, but the environment was welcoming and relaxed, which really helped. The space has a fun, positive, and pleasant atmosphere. Miranda, the teacher, was especially wonderful--very kind, patient, and great with kids. You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does and knows how to make children feel comfortable. Overall, this place seems great, and I really believe my son is going to love it here. Looking forward to many more classes!

Who can't remember being a child and being completely FREE?? Free of expectations, assumptions,…read morejudgments, "standards", and, of course, responsibility! :) And, can you think of a time, when you were too shy to say or do something just because you thought of what other people would think? Or do you ever feel confined by other people's expectations? If you relate to any of these things, then you REALLY REALLY REALLY need to do this. This was the first and only place I have ever done "ecstatic dance" and I prefer to call it moving meditation. And it's moving meditation because you have to let your mind go. You don't think about your day, you don't judge what is going on in your mind (or what's going on with your body in this case), you just let your soul FREE. And sometimes, that's easier to do when you're doing something rather than nothing (like in traditional meditation). So what if you look like a crazy person on the dance floor, sway back and forth, leap high in the air or crawl on the ground. You do what you feel like. So leave your side-to-side stepping dance moves at the door and jiggle, wiggle, or roll like a little kid. No one will snicker at you here. Everyone is here to dance their heart and soul away in all of the directions that their body will move - withOUT judgments, expectations or standards.. This is truly an experience of LETTING GO.

In an era where we acknowledge the need to cultivate the mind, body and spirit as one I was more…read morethan glad to stumble across Ecstatic Dance with Heera Sazevich on Craigslist. Not being a trained dancer (or overly coordinated) I was taken with the description of esctatic dance being "free dance." The focus of this class is more on personal development than learning complicated dance routines/choreopgrahy. In fact, you learn absolutely NO dance choreography or moves. What you DO learn, more importantly is to go with the flow, be in the moment and to just have fun! The class starts off with some reflective thoughts or themes which we discuss or occasionally act out to set the framework for some self-discovery, self-processing. The actual dance portion is a total rock out! Heera beats an eclectic collection of beats from around the world, be it tribal, percussive, techno, acoustic, meditative, hip hop or what not. I've definitely expanded my appreciation for different types of music (and movement) here. Being grounded in free dance I've "learned" some techniques from fellow classmates be they ballet or modern based, hip hop based or house/techno. Great stuff :) Finally, the people I've met in class are just fabulous. Ecstatic Dance draws a lot of mind-body-spirit focused folks and lots of folks from either dance or yoga backgrounds. It's an artsy and deeply spiritual crew and just great folks to be around. If this sounds like your cup of tea, join the fun! Classes are Sundays at St. Andrew's Priory, Wednesdays at the Academy of the Pacific and Fridays at Kapiolani Community College.
