The hotel must have been recently updated because my room and common space were clean and modern! Staff was very friendly and actively made sure other rowdy guests were maintained. Complimentary Breakfast was standard for Hampton Inns, but for those unfamiliar...various hot dishes such as eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy etc and cold items like muffins, cereal, yogurt etc.

The reason why I said maybe I would recommend it is because the last time I was here, my AC didn't work and this time it didn't work well either. It was 75 in my room and felt like 80. I thought the AC would get cooler being that I set it down lower within the hour. I had a long drive and fell asleep and when I woke up at midnight, I could feel the heat in the room. The AC was still showing 75 however, it felt much warmer. By that time, I was already in my PJs, so I tried falling back to sleep on and off throughout the night. I tried adjusting it from the wall and from the floor unit neither of them were of help. In the morning when I blow dried my hair of course it became even hotter. I couldn't wait to leave. I let them know downstairs and the lady that's worked there. All these years was super friendly and nice and said I should've told her at midnight. But by then again, I didn't want to have to get dressed to allow someone in my room. Then I was told if there's no movement in the room, the AC will automatically go up and temperature. However, not everybody moves around in their sleep so this is not a good feature. I understand saving electricity, but in the middle of the night is not a good idea. The hotel offers breakfast in the morning and also has tea and coffee anytime available. I do like coming to this hotel because the employees are friendly however I do not like sweating two times in a row that I've stayed. I was told some rooms don't have a sensor and will get cold so if my company puts me here again, I will have to request the room that gets cold because I didn't have very much luck two times in a row. So Hampton if you're looking... Please fix this AC issue I was in room 201.

Given our long history with Hilton properties and the exceptional stays we have enjoyed there, my husband and I were looking forward to a few days along the Northeast St. Pete waterfront...an area of high-end restaurants, museums, and condos. The Hampton Inn Suites were perfectly placed, and with their roof-top pool and lovely terrace, something we naturally looked forward to. However, almost immediately our expectations were undermined, and from day one until day three, there was a daily disappointment. 1. As we first entered our assigned room, we were repelled by an odor my husband described as "jock-room sweat." The smell was really over-powering. From the bathroom to the bed linen to the simple ambient air of the space, "old sweat" and "body odor" followed you. I went down to the lobby and requested another room, explaining the situation. 2. This was our first encounter with the staff. The desk attendant was a 20-30- year-old man, who mumbled under his breath, didn't seem to know how to use the computer, and as soon as I spoke to my husband, would turn back to his phone. An older man, who appeared to be the Manager appeared from a back room and I asked his help. He too appeared puzzled by how to find a different room, and certainly, no one was offering apologies for the reason. Luckily, another desk attendant who was just leaving, stepped in and found another room. I asked to check it out first. 3. The new room, on another floor, but in the same quadrant as the first, smelled better, but smelled...different. We moved all of our belongings there and began to refresh ourselves for dinner. It was then that we noticed what would continue for the next three days: powerful rotating odors that would fill the space and then dissipate. The first was the smell of burnt food, rolling in through the bathroom inside vent. Later, it was the overwhelming odor of Lysol. Other times, and there were many, there was the aroma of someone, somewhere having had a bowel movement...a smell that completely filled our room...and then dissipated. We had difficulty sleeping due to the smells that seemed to settle on us in our beds. But there was more. 4. Awakening in the middle of the night, there was the sound of what might have been "erratic scratching." Having experienced a cabin once where mice ruled the night, this was the same kind of sound. Constant, quick, slow, a pause, a restart of short 'scratching' noise. It did not stop all night. Nor did it for all three nights. By the second night, we discovered a leaking air conditioner that dropped individual drops on the window ledge outside--on, off, faster, slower, but continuously. The paint was worn away, so this obviously was an old problem, never fixed. 5. In the meantime, breakfasts downstairs produced an interesting parade of individuals from behind the desk: a new 'Manager,' who was an angry-appearing man who declined to say good-morning to me and quickly disappeared; an older woman with unwashed hair attending the desk, and speaking in a voice loud enough for an arena; a sullen youth acting as parking valet, who never raised his head from his phone, and finally, a man wearing flip-flops, a dirty T-shirt, and shorts hanging low on his hips--who appeared to come from outside--who disappeared into the staff room behind the desk. Laughing with the older lady desk attendant, he then shuffled over to get a plate of breakfast, and shuffled back behind the desk where they apparently ate together. He did this twice, and eventually, with the woman, laughed his way out of the hotel, into a parked car, and drove away. He appeared to be her guest, but not of the hotel. All in all, I write this with surprise and disappointment. Surprise because I would have thought Hilton prides itself on being an elite and client-forward company. Disappointment, because obviously, we will never stay there again, and no doubt our experiences will be heard by many of our friends. I wish you well in bettering your company and providing what we've always believed to be exceptional experiences there.

I was tired and yet she made me smile! And also Aaron at the valet who gave me a good tip about parking for free right by the hotel since I got in so late and would be heading out before the parking meters would start charging again. Both of them went above and beyond and turned a pretty good, but average hotel stay into a 5 star stay. The location is perfect- walkable to a bunch of shopping and restaurants in downtown St Pete. The hotel appears to be valet only, but there are other options nearby too. The interior is clean and updated and the room was comfortable. I appreciated that they had breakfast included, and definitely grabbed some yogurt and eggs before heading out. Overall, good hotel, lovely staff!

The room is from early 90's drab decor, but comfortable. The staff is polite, accommodating, respectful. We wished the room had fresh bright paint and modern bedspread and darkeners. Its in a rough looking neighborhood and you have to be extra careful with the strangers walking all around the hotel. When we first came into the room it had an exorbitant whiff of orange air freshener to mask the previous smoker's ozone in the room. We were here for a wedding and primarily used it for sleeping only.
