My teenage son taught himself to play guitar a couple of years ago, on an old hand-me-down guitar that won't stay in tune for five minutes... We decided it was time for him to have a "real" guitar. We ventured into KMC a few weeks ago, armed with only my son's internet research, with the intention of browsing and possibly trying out a couple of different guitar styles. We were assisted by a gentleman named Atticus. He made our visit a complete success! I wasn't too impressed by our initial reception in the store, and we briefly discussed leaving and trying out Guitar Center in Nashville instead. We decided, however, to take a quick look around since we were already there. Enter: Atticus. He was so amazing! He spoke with my son for a few moments and was able to establish a starting point for us. He offered a variety of guitar styles and price options, and encouraged us to hold and play each one. Atticus was extremely supportive and informative, working with us for over an hour, periodically asking questions and observing my son's playing style to further customize his guitar choices. Although their musical styles are worlds apart, my son was very thankful that Atticus was so supportive and held no bias, instead encouraging him to find and be true to his own musical style. Had it not been for the attention of this young man, we would have not made our purchase that day!
