Kentucky Guides was awesome! Bob and his team did a great job in planning a 2 day itinerary in the Bardstown and Frankfort areas for us. My wife and I along with another couple spent 2 days touring the area with Bob (Day 1) and Mark (Day 2). I can't imagine anyone doing a better job of giving a history of bourbon and the region that we visited. Bob selected great venues for us to visit! Highly recommend connecting with Bob to set up your next tour to Bourbon Trail!

Your search for a Tour Guide for Kentucky, and Bourbon Trail are over. Book with Bob, and you won't be disappointed. He is very knowledgeable about everything Kentucky, and is like a celebrity in Kentucky ha. Everyone knows him so when you travel with him your rolling with a VIP. He books everything for you, all your reservations ect, so you just get to come and enjoy without the hassle.

My husband and I drove to Kentucky to spend our anniversary week touring distilleries. I connected with Bob White early in the planning process and he made our trip special. He asked lots of questions (What are your 'must see' places? What do you like to drink? Do you like history?). And he answered lots of my question (Where should we stay? What is there to eat? What else can we do other than sample bourbon?) As we got closer to the trip, we tweaked timing based on which locations were open and where they were in relationship to each other. Bob took a huge amount of my usual trip planning off my shoulders so we could relax and enjoy each experience without worrying about how to get to the next place. We had a daily itinerary that included our must-dos, along with some other experiences that we would have never known about. These quickly became some of our favorite stops. We got to fill and label our own bottle at one location, dip a bottle in the famous red wax at another and even got a laser-engraving on a bottle of my favorite bourbon. Bob knew somebody at each place we visited (including Churchill Downs) and was greeted as a friend at each stop. He even helped me hunt down a special request for my boss and got us a lunch reservation at a coveted location. When we visit again (and we will!) I will absolutely want him with us again!

Amazing experience. Bob knows his stuff. Very knowledgeable, friendly, punctual. Everything went so smooth. I kept reading reviews if you're not with Bob you're not doing it right. They were correct! I will recommend him to anyone who wants to do the bourbon trails!!! He took care of us! Thanks Bob!

He was friendly, engaging and humorous. The round trip ride lasted about 90 minutes. The boat was very nice with bench seating and the ride was smooth. We sat upstairs in the open air to enjoy to scenery. A bar tender will take drink orders and deliver beverages to your seats. Drink prices are reasonable. Drinks can also be ordered and purchased on line. (I think snacks were also available). We booked our cruise several months in advance with tour and tasting tickets at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Two members of our party backed out and we were able to cancel their reservations (thankfully) the week before and get a refund. We started with our visit to Buffalo Trace. We arrived about an hour early so we could shop at the distillery and we were glad we did because we did not have time to shop after the tasting and getting to the boat. The tight timeline between the tasting and the boat departure was the only downside to the trip. I recommend the cruise, but plan on going at least an hour early to the distillery to shop.

The weather was enjoyable in late September and the shaded top deck had 360° views. The crew were friendly and attentive, the boat clean and in good shape. There is a drink menu available online, the prices were reasonable and the selection extensive. Nathan was our guide and we recommend them. They were knowledgeable and got a few laughs out of us. The sites seen along the way were lovely and some only accessible by boat. Passing under the bridges and by nature was made more fun knowing their history, we also saw the effects of the recent flood. We didn't see the distillery, but that might have been a different tour, different season or a result of the flood, but we got to see the singing bridge, which we were told would be deconstructed in time. We had a great time aboard the Kentucky River Boat and would return. Be sure to tip your tour guide as ours added to the experience!

It was a trip from hell without food, restroom breaks or time to see the promised attractions. The entire trip was false advertising. Even after I contacted Karen Toby mid trip and she promised it would be fixed, it did not get better. Karen told me that the situations I described were not up to the Toby standard and she would fix it. Not only did Toby tours not fix it but they are now denying that all the problems happened. Guests were told not to use the bus bathrooms, diabetics were fed donuts for breakfast. Promised attractions were closing as they arrived. Toby Tours should do the right thing, take responsibility and refund the money. Karen Toby, you know these guests did not get the tour you advertised and promised. There is a group of four ladies going on this trip that will likely never use Toby Tours again. For future readers, you'll recall that the spring of 2021 was a crazy time, coming off all the COVID lockdowns. Many distillers, who hadn't been open for tours for many months, were finally opening their doors, and demand for tours and tastings far exceeded availability. Tommy apparently has a few connections, and was able to get us the Connoisseur's Tasting at Heaven Hill, and the full tour and tasting at Maker's Mark. The experience was great: The van was large and comfortable, and Tommy--locally raised--knows the area, it's history, and plenty about the distilleries. In addition to the planned stops, he also made an unscheduled stop at the tiny Limestone Branch Distillery so we could taste some craft cocktails and buy some souvenirs. Bottom line: If you love bourbon, and you're looking for a relaxing, enjoyable, and memorable afternoon in the heart of bourbon country, you will not go wrong with Tommy and CopperTop Tours.
