What a time. Let me first say this: ask for the tour guide named Eric. He was amazing. Very knowledgeable, approachable with questions, flexible with time, funny. Just an all around wonderful guy who made the experience even better. The actual tour was great as well. Very insightful and tasty bourbon. All in all just a great day. But again- ask for Eric. He's the best

What a fun day! We were picked up right on schedule and had a very memorable experience. John, our guide/driver, was fun, professional, and very informative. I highly recommend this outstanding little company for anyone interested in enjoying the "Bourbon Trail" experience. Well done!

We had the BEST day w Gary! He knew exactly where to take us for the full experience in Louisville bourbon-distillery history, as well as cultural must-sees elsewhere in the city. His service was laidback, knowledgable yet friendly. Recommend hitting him up for anyone, who wants a fun day in Louisville with bourbon.

I'd give Sharon and Bourbon Excursions 10 stars if the rating scale reached that high. From the start, she put my three compadres and I at ease when she said, "Nothing you can say or do will offend me." She recalled a time when a tour customer lost his pants. At our worst, that we can remember anyway, we all dozed off during a ride to the next distillery. Sharon primed us for tours of the James E. Pepper, Buffalo Trace and Whiskey Thief sites -- and even added a stop at the Bulleit gift shop. We worked in an easy lunch, walking distance from one of the distilleries. It was reasonably priced to boot. By tour's end, we wanted Sharon to join us for a "slushy" while listening to music and watching other tourists having a blast, but she stuck to her Coca Cola. If her guiding and driving weren't enough service, the photos she shot and shared with us were great. They recorded all four of us together. If you're not having the presence of mind to shoot selfies, (we weren') those group shots can be as priceless as the experience itself. Cheers to Sharon and Bourbon Excursions!

Unscheduled stop to get upclose and personal with Thourghbreds!

We can't say enough nice things about Joey, Gary and Bourbon Excursions! We have toured the world and this is a First Class tour group. We planned our pre-Christmas trip last minute and they made the entire experience so easy! We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Gary/Joey had arranged an awesome day of touring Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace and a private tasting! We had a private group tour behind the scenes at Buffalo Trace. Lunch was included and Joey suggested an awesome local BBQ spot that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Bourbon Excursions went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing day! We were even able to stop along the road and pet Thoroughbreds and take an off tour scenic route through Louisville to see amazing old historic homes and Churchill Downs! They are very knowledgeable about the local area and gave great suggestions for places to eat, nightclubs and distilleries we could visit the next day! We can't wait to come back and do a different trail with these guys! Do yourself a favor...skip the other Bourbon Trail tour companies and book Bourbon Excursions with Joey and Gary!!! You won't regret it!!! Bonus: Veteran owned business!

Tour Guide Mark Owen's is very knowledgeable! The tour was well planned and Mark gave us the low down on each distillery.

What is the average cost to have a tour for 6-10 people?

Hi Nancy, The cost for a private tour can vary depending on where you wish to visit, what experience you want there, and even when you want to visit. However, with a group of 6-10, it will usually be around $269 per person. Give us a call and talk… Read more

Bus we weee on was a massive bus that had some nice leg room and room to stretch out. Bus featured plugs under each seat for charging purposes, your own little controlled air vent and a bathroom in the back. So plenty of comfort and the ability to stay prepared and charged up. The drive was really smooth both to and from Saint Louis and we never had to wait on the driver. Overall Miller is a nice option for church groups, private schools and clubs that may not have there own public transport buses. It's always a smooth and comfortable ride from my experience.

With limited time in a city,…read morethey're a great way to get a feel for the area and to pick out places you'd like to revisit. Heck, we've even taken tours in our own city! Very fun. This tour was no exception. We had a very enjoyable afternoon, got to see a lot of different things, learn a bit about the history of Louisville, and try some delicious foods. The format of this tour is as such: the bus drops you off at a location for 30-60 minutes, giving you time to explore while City Taste runs off to pick up food from a local eatery. When you get back on the bus, there's a taste (and a drink) to be eaten as you drive on to the next stop. The benefit of this is that you get to experience AND taste bits of Louisville, instead of one or the other. The drawback is that there is sometimes a bit of waiting around for the bus to return. On our tour, we stopped at Schimpffs candy shop, Churchill Downs (where we took a tour), Old Louisville, Louisville Slugger OR NULU (we were given an option), and the Belle of Louisville. Our favorite stop was Old Louisville by far. What a BEAUTIFUL area with such rich history! The food we had was fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, hot brown pizza, pulled pork and potato salad, and Derby Pie. All were delicious, but the particular favorites were the hush puppies and the hot brown pizza. Alongside came a variety of drinks... we weren't huge fans of the flavored beers and wines (vanilla, strawberry, etc.) but we liked the bourbon tastings, the bourbon coffee, and the mint julep at the end. For reference, the food quantity was enough to keep us mostly satisfied but not amounting to a full meal replacement. I wouldn't eat a huge lunch before you go, but I also wouldn't show up hungry. City Taste Tours was extremely accommodating and gracious to our family. I realize these tours aren't geared toward kids specifically, but they went out of their way to make it enjoyable for everyone on board. If you're looking for a tour that's a bit of everything, a "taste" of all tours, this is the one for you. It's quirky, fun, and a great way to spend an afternoon in Louisville. **One last thing I'd mention: we booked a private tour, mostly because we just didn't want to take away from anyone else's experience by bringing 6 kids along. We were surprised to find out after being picked up that the bus was picking up other riders as well. It honestly worked out TOTALLY fine - it was a great couple that came along with us - but I just mention this to warn someone who actually cares a lot about it being a private tour... you might want to double check that they don't somehow overlook your private reservation and add extra people to your group.
