I got my dog Cooper from Kents Hill about 3 years ago. He has been an amazing dog and has been in perfect health his entire life. I had a great experience working with them and and couldn't recommend them enough. I've met two other dogs from this breeder as well (two of my coworkers also got their dogs here) and they are both great dogs as well and have had zero health issues. There isn't enough room to say it all. I trusted her. Angelica was amazing in the beginning when you are giving her money. She had a male and a female left, but she had someone interested in the female so she swayed my decision towards the male and told me that he would be best for us. When you hold her to task she refunded money because she misrepresented the dog she then turned into a crazy person. Oddly there was no waitlist. SHE illegally transferred ownership of him through the microchip before he was in her possession. The day of return she was very aggressive with the dog, pulling him kicking him with her rubber farmer's boots to keep him from jumping up on her, not enough to make him yelp, but it was enough to make us awkwardly uncomfortable. My husband was jumping out of his skin so much so he offered to take the dog. She wouldn't let us touch him. She treated the dog and us so badly, barking out her commands, making us feel terrible. It worked - she is very vindictive. She sent unprovoked videos and pictures of him once he was returned. The same evening, the following day. My heart. She pulled at our heart strings using 1 of our grandson's and the rest of the family. We did miss him, our family missed him - she offered him back to us on more than one occasion and when we felt heartbroken enough we took her up on her offers and tried to get him back thru communications- she put us through hell and actually stated that we wouldn't have the health guarantee on the puppy any longer, crazy right. She wouldn't let us go get him and bring him back. I have never seen someone act this way and actually take pleasure in a really lousy situation. One she caused. We have never been treated so disrespectful and have never come across someone so unprofessional. Angelica does not like to put things in writing. I had her commitment - we wanted a mini, we bought a mini, he was not a mini. She insisted my vet was wrong still saying he was going to be 23 lbs. The only reason why she refunded the "purchase price" of dog, it was determined very early on that he was not a mini and it was in writing . We took great care of him and lost $1200 in vet cost alone. That doesn't count all the personal items. My husband is 70 years old has two fractures in his back and I've had two back surgeries. She knew this. We lost our 5 pound Yorkie two days before Christmas. So 25 lbs give or take was okay with us. He was just about that at 4.5 months. Please don't buy any responses to this review. I know her husband responded to one review and said it was slander, but he never said as much as a sentence to us. I wish I could post all the chain of events. All the positive reviews is the same language I have heard from her as well. I am on social media look me up Linda Rios 25 years breeding, no excuses. Where are all the + reviews. If she was honest from the beginning we wouldn't be where we are today. We ate crow and still gave her the chance to do the right thing. She would've made her money and we would've got the dog back. No, we were not going to override the health guarantee. But we still lost a lot of $. He had a great home. He had a good temperament, he was crazy but we stocked that up too being a puppy. Felt that would've gotten better with continued training we don't know anything anymore. It became a sick game to her! We desperately wanted to hit rewind. Regret our decision! We recently welcomed our second Australian Labradoodle, Jenny, from Kent's Hill Labradoodles after getting our first pup from them in 2020. Jenny is playful, smart, and has such a sweet personality. House training was surprisingly smooth and she's learning commands quickly. Angelica has been awesome. She cares about the pups and has been helpful since we've brought Jenny home. Angelica called after seeing my review. She was upset that the error had happened. Her son breeds Goldendoodles and at the time would sometimes bring his puppies to her property for care. Angelica was away at the time the mix up occurred. She offered to take our dog back (we declined) and we settled on a partial refund since we had paid extra for a dog she had intended to use as a breeder. ozzie is a sweet Goldendoodle and a wonderful brother to our AUD. read more

My husband and I recently brought home a beautiful baby boy, Milo, from Angela, and I couldn't be more happy with our decision! Angela was kind, responsive, and clearly passionate and knowledgeable about her dogs. She kept us updated with pictures and information before we picked Milo up, answered all our questions with patience, and made sure our puppy was healthy, well behaved and socialized, and ready for his new home. UPDATE 2/21/22 I removed three stars but kept 2 because I have a wonderful healthy dog and that is the ultimate most important part of buying a dog from a breeder. I am in a bit of shock. I was in a doodle group on FB where someone mentioned she had her ALD DNA tested for health reasons and found out her dog was actually a goldendoodle. She said she got the dog from a breeder in Maine specializing in ALDs and after talking with her the dog was from Kents Hill. My dog, Blintz, is a happy, healthy puppy but after getting him DNA tested based on this conversation - he is 76.5% Poodle (small) and 24.4% Golden Retriever. There is no lab or spaniel in his DNA and even more the test found he would be considered a first generation Goldendoodle (meaning one goldendoodle parent and one pure poodle parent). This would mean he is not multigenerational as advertised but an f1b goldendoodle (which can impact personality, shedding etc). Do with this information what you will - I know some people claim these tests are not accurate but the fact 2 people who do not know each other got dogs from different litters (we were given different parent names at the time of purchase) around the same time period (Summer 2021) from this breeder and we BOTH received the same goldendoodle results. Blintz was born 7/16/21 to Mozart and Broshka. The other dog was born 7/3/21 to Oscar and Svetka. GOLDEN RETRIEVER is not anywhere in the mix of an Australian Labradoodle and we can confirm that at least two litters must have had a golden in the mix if our purchase info was right about parents and birthdays. Not sure if this is Embark DNA's fault or bad breeding but buyer should beware this has happened. read more

Brought Zoe home 2 years ago...ongoing vet visits since...she came home with 2 parasites and became very sick the day after we picked her up...almost died..Non stop issues since During visit to pick her up we were not allowed to see parents or pick up Zoe until we were leaving in our car..RED FLAGS!!! We are the 2022 owners of an Australian Labradoodle puppy from Kents Hill Australian Labradoodles in Maine. She was a normally active puppy except that she did not go up and down stairs since we live on the main floor of our house. Our puppy went lame at 9 months of age. She had x-rays and an MRI which confirmed that she has a congenital disorder of both shoulders (bilateral OCD) for which she just had surgery to prevent necrosis and fracture associated with this disorder. According to the vet, she will still have arthritis in both shoulders, will be required to limit her activity for the rest of her life, and will require arthritis medication and expensive prescription dog food. The Kents Hill breeder claimed on her website (and to me personally) that the parents of her puppies were genetically tested via OFA. I had relied on that claim but wanted to investigate it since the vet told me that this disorder had a genetic cause which the genetic tests were supposed to reveal. When I reported the problem to the breeder, she wrote back saying "Last year I changed to a new computer and lost some information. Please provide Kaku's parent's names." Since she had given us these names prior to the sale, I supplied them. I then looked for the names of the parents on the OFA website and discovered that the parents of my dog are not in the OFA list of tested dogs from this breeder. Then, despite not knowing who my dog's parents were, she then claimed that she knew who the more remote ancestors were. She claimed that 2 of the only 5 Kents Hill dogs that have been tested and listed on the OFA site are ancestors of my puppy--the grandfather and the great grandmother. I have no way to confirm that. Also, one of these purported ancestors were tested only for thyroid and the other for thyroid and patellar luxation. Neither had been tested for one of the most common genetically inherited disorders in the breed (joint dysplasia) that my puppy has. What is certain is that neither parent of my puppy was genetically tested as claimed. Further, the breeder claims that she has been breeding Australian Labradoodles for 22 years, yet only five of her breed dogs have been genetically tested, the latest one having been tested in 2013. Two other organizations that the breeder belongs to according to her website (The Goldendoodle and Labradoodle Premium Breeders list and the Association of Reputable Breeders) do not exist according to my Google search. I also saw on this Yelp review page two owners of Kents Hill puppies were genetically tested after purchase and were a mix of poodle and Golden Retriever. I am writing this review because I am heartbroken that my poor puppy, whom we love, has endured the painful surgery, we are in the midst of a 4 week recovery where the dog cannot have any activity and then another 4 weeks of very limited activity. She wants to play and jump and run and she cannot. And our vet says that her lifelong activity needs to be limited except for fairly short leash walks and swimming (but we have no access to a pool). The breeder offered us 1/2 of the purchase price of the dog which is the maximum legal financial responsibility that a Maine breeder has when they sell defective puppies. We have so far spent three times that amount in vet bills. I want this breeder to stop lying to prospective customers. I want her to take down the false claims on her website so that other customers will not rely, as I did, on her claims that the parents of her puppies are genetically tested and that she belongs to these bogus organizations. And I want this Yelp review to warn potential customers that this breeder is dishonest. read more

This is in response to the complaint you received from our customer in Miami. Below I've described our experience with Pamela and the unfortunate outcome for little Coco. Pamela wanted the smallest of our puppies. Coco was the smallest from the litter. She was very alert, playful and had a very good appetite. After I received the first complaint from Pamela about the eye condition of Coco, I agreed that she should show her to an ophthalmologist and send me the report. In the state of Maine we don't have a canine ophthalmologist. My veterinarian made a full physical exam of Coco and didn't find anything wrong with her vision. For puppies at that age, it's normal to have blurry eyes. I received the travel health certificate without a problem, (The tail condition was mentioned in the report). I forwarded Pamela's complaint to my Veterinarian who wrote back that: "Maybe it happened in transit. Corneal abrasion's are not uncommon. I did not see squinting when I examined the puppy. If I did I would have done a stain as well". After Pamela had received the ophthalmologist report (I forwarded it to my Veterinarian) she called me and was very unhappy. I asked her if she would like to return Coco. She said yes. I told her that in our policy (which is clearly stated on our web site) it states that we make a full refund except for the deposit which is not refundable. Pamela strongly disagreed. She wanted back everything including shipping and crating. To avoid any confrontation I decided against my policy to make a full refund including the deposit and 40% of the shipping. We have a mutual agreement with Pamela to those conditions. During the same conversation, I offered her the refund and that she keep Coco or find her a good home in Florida, because another flight across the country (from Miami to Maine) would be hard for Coco. She said she would think about it. After she received a full refund (which she called for some reason partial), I called her and asked her what she decided to do with Coco. She sent me a health report from an orthopedic veterinarian which showed that the health condition of Coco was very poor and she decided to put Coco to sleep. It was a very hard decision for her. I was very sad because I was sure that I was selling a healthy puppy, judging by her behavior and the report of my veterinarian. Pamela accused me of dishonesty and fraudulence. I am so impressed with Angelica and her puppies!! Our little dog is so good-natured and was so clean and well cared for. Angelica's area for the dogs is so beautifully maintained, and Angelica is great to work with. The day I picked up our dog she spent a great deal of time showing us several very important commands and behaviors that will be so important to our family as we learn to train this dog. I left with instructions and a bag full of items for our puppy which have been so helpful especially this first week! I also appreciate that she encouraged us to please be in touch with any questions - and I actually feel like she meant it! KENTS HILL AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE STAY AWAY, DISHONEST AND MISLEADING BREEDER. This breeder sold me a female puppy with several potentially LETHAL congenital anomalies though she knew or at the very least should have known about them. When I received the puppy, I immediately noticed that she had cloudy eyes and that her lips did not cover her gums even when her mouth was closed. These abnormalities were plainly visible even to a person with no veterinary experience like me. Three hours after receiving the puppy, I took her to the primary vet who confirmed that she had a mouth/teeth malformation and an eye problem. The vet then advised me to take the puppy to an ophthalmologist, who diagnosed her with congenital corneal abnormalities and absence of lacrimal glands. The doctor told me that my puppy could become BLIND. The breeder should have known about these plainly visible problems. In fact, though she was well aware of a separate non-lethal defect in the puppy's tail, she did not disclose that defect to me prior to selling the puppy. Clearly, her actions were dishonest, fraudulent and negligent. Once I learned about these problems, I called the breeder and requested to return the puppy. At this point, I was understandably upset and saddened about the puppy's health. Yet, she was very disrespectful and dismissive over the phone. She refused to cover the shipping costs to send the puppy back and also initially declined to refund any of the incidental costs of the original purchase, which included shipping and a crate charge (she later agreed to only a partial refund of these charges). She said that, if I could not afford to send the puppy back, I should find another home for her in the state where I lived. All this despite KNOWING AND FAILING TO DISCLOSE at least one defect in the puppy, and despite the fact that she should have known about other plainly visible and very serious defects. Since shipping the puppy back to the breeder was too expensive and finding another home for her would be virtually impossible based on her health problems, I decided to keep the puppy and give her the best care I could. But, about ten days later, the puppy developed difficulty moving her hind legs and became very lethargic. I took the puppy to the primary vet again, and this time the vet made an immediate referral to an orthopedic specialist. The orthopedist ran x-rays and diagnosed her with a severe congenital vertebral malformation that would soon lead to paralysis, inability to control bladder and bowel function which would lead to frequent severe infections, and chronic pain. The orthopedist told me that the puppy would endure significant pain and suffering due to these issues, and, after further discussion with the doctor, I decided that HUMANE EUTHANASIA was the most reasonable approach. I can assure you this was one of the most painful decisions I have made. The breeder's dishonesty and negligence has caused me terrible emotional harm, and cost me more than $600 in vet bills, apart from the only partial refund of incidental costs from the original purchase. I have all the vet reports proving what is described here, and have lodged complaint with the American Labradoodle Club of America (ALCA).
