Wow ! What a hidden gem ! We were visiting Ludlow VT and saw this fall . Kids wanted to enjoy…read morewater and this was a perfect choice for us . The water was colddddddddddd though. Ufff . Very cold . The first dip was tough ! Later once you get use of it , it felt a bit better . Pathway was a bit crazy , in some places .it is about a 2 mile walk but we just went not too far : .. the lower and middle falls is also accessible from car parking lots outside . Parking is outside and sometimes you have to park 5-8 mins away from the falls . Not much of restrooms around . Lots of dogs in the water :) It was an amazing tint though ! Loved it . 5 stars !

As we were staying near Ludlow, I had put this on our schedule as a "check it out whenever time…read morepermits" item. We drove back after visiting some places to the north, and were passing this around 4 p.m. so we checked it out. This was in early October and the sun was just starting to go down. Though it was pre-dusk, it would be better to visit this site in full sunlight. There are 3 separate falls (the creatively named upper, middle, and lower). You access them from the main highway via a side road that starts as paved but soon becomes (good) dirt/gravel. The total length is less than 2 miles. You first get to a wide spot / parking area from which you can access the middle and lower falls. A trail leads down a hill where you must choose which falls to visit. The middle falls is impressive. It is probably the easiest one to access. The area from which you have the best view is a bit rocky, but navigable. It makes for nice photos. The lower falls appeared accessible from a side trail that descended a bit more steeply. You can also see it from above (somewhat) without descending. It appeared smaller and less photogenic than the middle falls. We then drove another 1/4 mile up the road (to its end) to check out the upper falls. There is a sharp short descent from the road to the top of the falls. It appeared to have a fairly large pool at the bottom and a flat dirt/sand area where some people had laid out a blanket for a picnic. The light was fading more so we skipped walking down the relatively gentle slope to check it out further. If you are in the area and have time, this is a nice spot to visit. It is within 3 miles of Ludlow. I cannot comment on what the swimming is like, but I saw references to that online (during summers, I guess).

I rented a small cabin. No bathroom in it. There is running water (potable) next to the cabin, in…read morethe trees, though. So I could brush my teeth there and do my dishes there and fill my water bottle there. The bathroom is a bathroom house. 2 showers and 4-5 toilets, 2-3 sinks. (I am forgetting how many now.) The lake is beautiful! The sunsets over the lake are beautiful! You can rent a boat and go out on the lake. Lots and lots of folks here with their RVs. Lots of cabins for renting. I didn't see any tents being used on the tent camping grounds while I was there. The little store was stocked with so many wonderful things - tourism trinkets, practical things for camping. I bought myself a flashlight because I forgot to bring one on my trip. It was corroded (everything around here is so humid), and they replaced it with a new one that works the next day. They also have ice cream in the store. I need ice cream. It's one of my basic needs. There is also firewood. One of the rules of the campground is that if you bring your own wood to your site, it needs to be from Vermont or you can't burn it. My dogs loved this campground too. I am so glad to have found a good place to stay with my dogs while traveling. I loved all the trees at the campground. It was really nice to be there. Also, my cabin didn't have bedding. I had to use my own sleeping bag and fold a bunch of clothes to be my pillow. I hadn't expected that. One negative : I don't think they clean the cabins in between guests. My floor was dirty. And by dirty, I mean: it had caked on dirt. It's become basically a dirt floor. So dirty. It's camping, so there's that. I have never encountered such a dirty floor at a KOA though, before. I was pretty surprised. My dog threw up the last morning i was there, and I had my Clorox wipes with me, so I cleaned it up. The part where I cleaned up his dog throw up - that part of the floor is now clean. What a contrast to the rest of the dirt floor. I wish they had the new KOA feature - where you can rent a dog pen to be outside your cabin. That would have been so handy for me. I had to get their harnesses and leashes on a LOT and it would have been nice to sit out on the front porch without having to hold my dogs on their leashes. I bought some weird plastid rope at the camp store, and that helped a little. It would have been nicer to have a pen, though.

We had a nice spot for our camper but when we got there at 2:00, there were people still in our…read morespot. We had to wait for them to move. They felt bad and so did we. We couldn't sit outside without something over us because there was so many caterpillars! They were pooping all over everything! It was absolutely disgusting. We had to be careful not to carry any of them home because they could infest our area. We asked if they ever sprayed but they said no and that was it. The pool is pretty small, when it was really busy, kids were jumping on each other. The splash pad isn't turned on during the week either. As for swimming in the lake...you can't because it's the pond area so you have to go to the state park to swim. We did have a nice time considering! We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, swimming, some mini golfing and biking!
