Yesterday I had a terrible experience with a podiatrist for my mom. In the middle of her short appointment, I said to my mom's caregiver," I love ,love ,love my podiatrist Dr Feldman". I almost said to the nice technician go to work for Dr Feldman he will treat you right. I am happy to have read the reviews here because one said they paid Dr Feldman straight away. The reason I brought my mom to that awful person at Scripps is, it's on her insurance. Dr Feldman thank you for the great work you do and being so kind gentle and a caring human being. **Super curious as to why Yelp lists this "Dr." with 4 stars when it appears that almost 1/2 of the reviews are 1 star.** I saw Dr. Feldman several months ago because I was having severe foot pain, pins and needles. I was basically told by Dr. Feldman not to walk barefooted or wear sandals. I was told to wear shoes and that was it. No further investigation or treatment was provided or offered. Months later, the pain, suffering and symptoms were worsening. I was referred to a neurologist and as it turns out, I have severe neuropathy and nerve damage in my feet. As a "foot doctor", it seems to me that instead of a pat on the head, Dr. Feldman could have actually listened to me about the pain and pins and needles I was complaining about and actually tried to help me. I feel like I was not heard and I certainly did not receive adequate medical care. If I could rate the front desk staff separately, they'd get 5 stars. Friendly, kind & helpful. read more

I would highly encourage you not waist your time with Kent Feldman. I was referred his office by my doctor and had high hopes as I trust her. Kent immediately told me my foot fungus was hereditary and asked about my parents feet. I let him know my moms were fine and I didn't have a father so I'm unsure. He insisted I had a father stating "that's kind of how this works". Mind you, I'm a grown adult going into his office to be seen for my foot fungus not to discuss my father leaving when I was born. He told me I would have to deal with this problem for the rest of my life and all I could do is take medication, pop off the nail and spray my feet everyday in hopes it doesn't come back. Since we live so close to Tijuana, I explored options out there and found "steps pedicure" where they actually care about you and treat you like a vip customer not a paycheck. Steps pedicure provided a laser treatment that doesn't include taking a pill that has negative effects on your liver. Overall, Kent has horrible customer services and outdated practices. He had the audacity to try and sell me a copper sock he helped create while I was on my way out. There are so many doctors in San Diego- don't waist your time here. read more

I was referred to Dr. Feldman by a trusted MD also in Podiatry. I went for a second opinion and for a standing CT scan of my right ankle which I shattered over twenty years ago. It was fused over ten years ago and has recently started bothering me with chronic stabbing pain in several places in and around my ankle. My experience with Dr. Feldman was great. He is very knowledgeable and caring at the same time. It is rare to find a doctor who has both a good bedside manner and also knows their stuff. Even though I was disappointed with the diagnosis I got after the CT scan, I was encouraged that I will still be able to have a fulfilling life whatever I choose to do with my ankle situation. I was not impressed by the service. The lobby was full and he was rushing thru everyone. He wasn't even wearing his face mask correctly it was below his nose like how selfish ignorant can you be for a "medical professional" also he didn't wear gloves and was touching his machines and my foot without using hand sanitizer or anything. He only looks very superficial at your injury and it's obvious he downplays what you might have. He was rushing during X-rays and then "explaining" what you have. He said everything is fine and pain will go away well it's been 3 weeks and it hasn't. Going to change doctors and get a second opinion. read more

This section is dedicated to "Dr" Kent Feldman. I didn't know medical licenses were handed out like honorary degrees, or else I don't know how this guy cheated his way into the field of podiatry AND medicine. With that said, I will paint you guys a picture of how this Dr and his office staff earned 1 star out of 5. That's an F for you. If you are interested in being told to have unnecessary foot surgery and would like to wait an extra 40 mins for every appointment then Dr. Feldman is your man! This dr is a complete narcissist who diagnosed me with plantar fasciitis. I requested a 1st MRI of my right foot bc the pain I felt was not entirely consistent w/ just plantar fasciitis symptoms. MRI Images showed that I had a tear going across my plantar fascia ligament, going more than 50% wide across in thickness. While Dr. Feldman refused to prescribe me any medicine for my severe foot pain, he DID let me know that he could prescribe me some meds if I let him perform surgery on my foot. Words cannot begin to attack the lack of ethics and moral fortitude that medicine is supposed to reflect! Additional visits with Dr. Feldman led to me getting to hear all his recommendations regarding my course of treatment. The following are HIS words, not MINE: * Trying any form of physical therapy or steroid injections could worsen my injury. (Great advice except it negates that this Dr was pushing for surgery, over other common modalities of treatment!) * Follow this worksheet (which outlines a series of generic foot exercises) and lets try taping your foot. Here is a list of OTC orthotics but I do not recommend any specific one. Just try them on and figure it out yourself. * The list goes on..... After 3 months of being under the care of Dr. Feldman I had reached my breaking point. I had spent over $200 for devices and orthotics meant to reduce the pain in my foot. Nothing was working and the things that Dr. Feldman suggested we're actually making me WORSE. I grew tired of being in physical pain and I was even more burned out by the rudeness of Feldman's office staff. Every single time that I walked into this office, there would be at least 4 other patients still waiting ahead of me for their own appointments. This guy could not show up on time to his own funeral. After a while it could start to make you mad! I fired this doctor after he began to insist that I needed to have "Plantar Fascia Release Surgery"; a procedure which permanently severs the injured plantar fascia from the rest of the foot. This did not feel right to me, especially given that Feldman had not tried other more commonplace modalities! Furthermore, he suggested I try a plasma injection treatment that would cost me $600 out of pocket. This was the last straw. (*****see below) In short, I would not trust Dr. Kent Feldman to hold the button at the crosswalk for me. He is not only incompetent but his arrogance makes him a danger to patients like us, who want pain relief soo badly! Feldman uses a paint-by-numbers approach, which leaves out the importance of diagnostic imaging. Please ignore positive reviews that do not thoroughly reflect the patient's experience. I took the time to really try to lay things out so that future patients with foot pain can read my review and then run QUICKLY away!!! (****) At this point, I requested a 2nd podiatrist referral. I l ended up going with Dr. Andrew Felfoldi. Felfoldi has been fantastic from Day One. His 1st course of action was to administer a steroid injection, while utilizing an angle that is meant to reach specific areas of the foot. This new doctor also insisted he do an In-Office X-Ray foot, using a cool machine that you stand on. So it takes the image from the foot UP, instead of looking across it. read more

This pseudo pretends that a messed up joint for decades be fixed with "THERAPY" (after 4 doctors before him said I ABSOLUTELY need surgery) and I am with 24/7 pain.... My joint is so unstable I get injured it while I sleep if I happen to move the wrong way... and the pain lasts for weeks...! He totally disregarded the PAIN factor and the longevity and seriousness of the condition. He said "performing surgery to fix what is damaged might damaged what has been self repaired"........ Dr. Feldman is a wonderful doctor, however, Renee whom is the clinical manager/handles referring process is absolutely terrible. Not only did she blame me for not getting my updated insurance which delayed me seeing Dr. Feldman another month, she had such poor attitude and could not even apologize. She misinformed me that I needed authorization when in fact I did not so I went back and forth with my primary and insurance just to find out that only a referral was needed. My husband and I both work in healthcare and have never dealt with somebody so unprofessional. If you're looking to have orthotics made, forget coming here because they will never get back to you after the molding! Not only did I waste a couple co-pays but also the time to drive 45 minutes back and forth from North County San Diego in addition to spending so much time over the phone with an invalid. I have great insurance and cannot understand how someone has such a hard time communicating! It baffles me at how somebody so lazy gets put into a position like hers. It would have been awesome if the practice had someone better than Renee to follow-up with their patients. read more

I was apprehensive of having surgery all at once, but Dr. Feldman eased my worries with his knowledge, patience, and professionalism (he has a great sense of humor too). My appointments with him were always thorough, and he addressed every question and concern that I had. It has been six weeks post-op, and I am very satisfied with the outcome of my surgeries. I followed his instructions to a tee, which have produced excellent results. I'm certain I will be back at running in no time. Dr. Feldman started out making a very positive impression and has continued to build on that. Yesterday he performed two intense procedures (bunionectomy and another metatarsal shortened) on one foot, and the excision (removal) of a cyst from the other foot. From our first encounter, I have felt very fortunate to have found Dr. Feldman. He has a great chair-side manner; he's extremely articulate, engaged, and quick-witted as well. Since I've never had pain of the sort I had yesterday after the procedures, I called his office at close to 5pm (on a Friday, mind you). The doctor called me right back, and spent 20 minutes explaining how I needed to manage the pain meds, and balance the other considerations (nausea, sleep, being out of it, etc). I can't wait to put my new feet to use. Thanks again, Doc. PS. As to the people who have written the 1-star reviews, I'd merely point out that of their two dozen reviews they've written complaining about service and communication from all manner of service providers, they may want to see if perhaps maybe they attract bad service because they themselves are so negative in the first place. Obviously there are times and places where negative reviews are called for, but if all you're writing is negativity, maybe it's time to rotate the prism. read more

I was given a referral to Dr Feldman early 2020 (pre-pandemic) by my primary care. I didn't have a choice of doctors because I am on an HMO, but I am so glad this is who I was referred too! I have been dealing with pain in my metatarsals for 2 years and by Christmas 2019 I could barely roll through my foot. I grew up dancing so I am use to my feet hurting, but the loss of range of motion really bothered me especially since I am not even 40 yet and I love to go hiking. And when foot pain is so bad that you can't even do yoga, then its time to go talk to someone. My first appt Dr Feldman described what was going on within 5 minutes of me telling him what was going on and him examining my foot. He gave me somethings to try and to get back to him if that didn't work. Well then the pandemic hit and I decided this was not an issue to be trying to address at this time. When I did finally get back around to following up, he walked me through what he could do surgically, which was not where I wanted to go, but he clearly laid out that if I wanted to get rid of the pain and not have my foot impact my daily life that he could help me. So with some delays again due to the pandemic and insurance I finally had surgery in March and I am very glad I did! I highly recommend Dr Feldman and his expertise for foot issues. Dr Feldman was referred to me by several local runners in San Diego suffering from plantar fasciitis. I was fitted with a custom orthodic a couple years ago & have resumed normal activity without any problems. The orthodic & proper diagnosis was great. AMAZING DOCTOR! Yes, I am very, very, happy about writing this review! I have had multiple surgeries on my foot since I was 16 years old. I am now 55, and I have had 3 of my toes become so deformed that I really had no choice but to get a professional opinion of what could be done to improve my issues. I have lived with an intense pain on the ball of my foot, a bunion that had been operated on twice, a hammer toe that was longer than my second toe, and a second toe that was very short due to a surgery that was not performed correctly about 14 years ago. Needless to say, I was a handful for any doc! I went to 3 doctors. A podiatrist in Encinitas, an orthopedic surgeon in San Diego, and I received a referral from a very well respected shoulder surgeon to Dr. Feldman. I won't go into the details of the other two visits, but I will tell you as soon as Dr. Feldman looked at my foot and took his x-rays, I knew he was the doc for me. For one thing, he was the only doc that had 3D x-rays and I could actually clearly SEE what he was talking about He was very confidant and explained to me in detail what he would do to correct ALL of my issues. I scheduled the surgery and I am writing to you now to tell you I am not only pain free, but I am running! I had my surgery on Nov. 4, 2015 and this is March 14, 2016! I have actually been running for about a month! From the surgery center (excellent!!) to the gals in his office, to the multiple check ups during my recovery, this doctor was on top of it all. He was so diligent in what had to be done for this to be a success! I did have a cast for 6 weeks, which was a long and arduous process, but he assured me that this was the only way I would have success with what he had performed. This review is for Renee, one of the staff members for Dr. Feldman. I will start by saying I had a very positive experience with Dr. Feldman and I have no complaints about him as a doctor. HOWEVER- HIS STAFF MEMBER RENEE IS ANOTHER STORY!! I concur with another Yelp reviewer who said Renee has a very poor/negative attitude. When speaking with Renee on the phone, her tone and demeanor make you feel like you are a bother to her. So much for good bedside manner! BUT- my BIGGEST problem with Renee is that she may have violated HIPAA laws. I went to Dr Feldman's office to pick up my recent office visit medical summary/notes for my appointment with an custom orthotic maker. When I arrived at the office, I gave my name to the receptionist and stated I was there to pick up my medical record which was supposed to be left at the front desk for me to pick up. The receptionist referred me to Renee who was sitting behind her. Renee turned around and handed me the documents I was there to pick-up. NO ONE ever asked me for any formal ID. Instead, Renee just handed me my personal health record. I stated to Renee that I was surprised that she did not ask to see my ID to ensure that she was giving my medical records to me and not someone else. Her rude response was: "I am sitting right here and I heard you introduce yourself with your name so I knew it was you". WHAAAAAT???? I am not an expert in HIPAA privacy laws but I don't think anyone in the medical profession can/should just release medical records to someone who simply states a name. I will be contacting the appropriate HIPAA authorities to see if my claim is valid. I went to Dr. Feldman with a plantar tear and he was able to get me on the right track within days of seeing him, whereas another podiatrist had been unsuccessful after weeks of 'treatment.' I was referred to him by a physical therapist whom I trust, and I wasn't disappointed. Dr. Feldman is skilled, personable, fair and knowledgeable. He's up to date on treatments, latest research and he's someone whose advice I trust. His office staff is friendly, professional and they answered all my questions about costs and insurance. When I first met Dr. Feldman I liked him right away---great sense of humor , calm demeaner and never seems stressed, knowledgable, confident, and reassuring in his plan for and need for surgery. Arrive early to your appointment because chances are you will get in a little early. I had a horrible experience with Dr. Feldman over a year ago. I was referred to him by another podiatrist when the first one discovered I had a complete disruption of my lisfranc ligament. This was verified by an MRI. I went to his office around the time they had moved. He told me I would probably need surgery and that he would submit the request to my insurance and at the same time wait for his handy dandy weight bearing CT scan machine to be certified so he could get an image off of it. This is not a requirement for surgery. After waiting 2 more weeks, I called the office for an update and was told a surgery request was not put into for my insurance and the CT scan machine was not certified and probably wouldn't be for a few more weeks. I was irate at this point as I had been in pain for at least 7 weeks. Dr. Feldman denied telling me I would need surgery. He denied saying he would put in a request for surgery and he denied that my lisfranc was ruptured, however I have the MRI results to prove it. I told him I was filing a complaint again him and in retaliation he called my insurance company told me he couldn't work with me because I have "anger issues." It is now over a year later and I am still in pain because by the time I saw someone else I was told I should have had surgery, but it was now too late. My foot never healed correctly. This past August I finally found a dr. that knows what they are doing and is treating me properly and after all this time I may have to still have surgery where he goes in rebreaks things and pins them back together correctly. I am seriously contemplating a medical malpractice suit against the urgent care I went to the night of my injury, my primary care doc that I went to 2 days after my injury, and Dr. Feldman who was only concerned about using his nifty little toy that "is the only one is San Diego County," so it's obviously not needed to determine whether or not surgery is necessary. I am still furious over how I was treated by him.I tell other doctors, x-ray technicians, MRI people, my physical therapist what a jerk I think he is and they say they hear that a lot from people. I was in very bad shape when I got to Doctor Feldman's office. I had two surgeries previously from a different doctor that had really terrible results. Not only did my foot look disfigured it was really very painful. I could barely put on any shoe at all. I originally had a bunion and hammer toe on my left foot. The first doctor over corrected with a first surgery and then further screwed up my foot with a "correction". The result was heart-breaking. Im a fairly athletic person and I thought my active lifestyle was over. Then I found Doctor Feldman!!! He took one look and said "I can fix it!" Not only is my foot looking good it feels good. I'm back to working out and walking five miles every morning. He is a godsend. If you are looking for someone competent and compassionate, who is a perfectionist then look no further. Dr. Feldman repaired an arthritic toe joint with an Interpositional Arthroplasty. After 2.5 months I feel almost completely back to normal and mostly pain free. He was very thorough in explaining the surgery beforehand and has great bedside manners. He was great in the quantity and quality of after care. Dr. Feldman was my third podiatrist after a three year, painful, crippling battle with plantar fasciitis in both of my feet. I really hate to write this as a good friend referred me to Dr. Feldman but I have to join the chorus of those who had a negative experience with the office staff. I called first thing last Monday to see if I could get an appointment by the end of the week as my neuroma pain really increased which was strange as I'd had a 2nd shot about 10 days before. It took me two days and many mis-steps to finally talk to Rene, the appointment person. I called 2 or 3 times the first morning (getting the recording) & finally reached someone before noon by pressing another number. I was told that Rene had gotten my message but was going to talk to the doctor. I thought that was strange as why wouldn't she talk to me first to get more specific information as my message was brief? I called again mid-afternoon and talked to the same person who said the doctor would call me that afternoon but unfortunately didn't. She also said the doctor asked if I had done a few things he'd recommended but they didn't apply to me so I was really confused. But I couldn't talk to anyone. I left another message first thing the next day and about 3 p.m. Rene called me and I was told the doctor would be gone for 10 days starting on Friday. The tone of her voice and responses made me feel like I was bothering her. Ever had someone say I'm sorry but the tone told you they were anything but sorry? I'm going to go to another doctor as I have no confidence in being able to effectively communicate with this office - I believe that is critical when I see a doctor. read more
