Went here with my daughter today - As regular visitors to Dover I asked about getting a membership card since we're frequently visiting family here, especially now that one of my in-laws is sick. The library website says I can get one as an out-of-stater by filling out the membership form and paying a borrower's fee. They couldn't figure it out and in fact had never heard of anyone doing this. In the end, they gave me a temp card that will have to be refreshed every 3 months. This is ok, just kind of annoying. Information on out of state memberships is all over their website, yet 3 staff members were unable to figure it out and basically told me it doesn't exist. Nonetheless they were friendly about it.
The kids area has tons of books though they weren't always in the right spots. The fact they have a dedicated kids area is nice. My daughter and I read some books there at a kid's table and it was quiet and clean.
Overall it's a decent library - deducted one star since they don't seem to know the rules posted on their website about library cards. read more
