Located at the corner of Albemarle Road and Argyle Road just south of Parade Ground, this private…read moremansion in Ditmas park has perhaps the most amazing Halloween display I've ever seen. First, the house itself is just beautiful: Victorian style, with a pool and what looks like a full bar in the "shed" in the backyard. The house is owned by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire and his wife [1]. Skeletons emerge from the ground among gravestones in the bushes by the front lawn. The wrap-around porch is chock-full of real-size animatronic figures such as haunted clowns, ghosts, zombie children, a giant werewolf and 3 homicidal piggies. A dozen skeletons with beaming red eyes climb the exterior of the house; giant spiders take over the fence. A butcher with a massive mallet and a circular saw for hands, and a possessed dog that leaps out of a doghouse, alongside projections of ghosts on the windows. Only thing, I feel bad for their front lawn that gets literally butchered by all the people walking on it. Apart from that, this house is awesome! ------------------------ [1] You can read more about it here: https://gothamist.com/arts-entertainment/brooklyn-halloween-house-ditmas-park-2021-photos And here https://nypost.com/article/best-scary-halloween-decorations-nyc/?utm_content=brooklyn-halloween-house-ditmas-park&utm_source=secretnyc&utm_medium=post&utm_term=cta1

"It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day…read morefor a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?" I have taken to dubbing Windsor Terrace, bordered by Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery and split in two by the Prospect Expressway, "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" for two reasons: 1. I've repeatedly been involved in conversations that go something like this: Q: Where do you live? A: Brooklyn Q: Which neighborhood? A: Windsor Terrace Q: No, which neighborhood? A: (with frustration) Windsor Terrace These dialogues tend to remind me of "Who's on First?," and it doesn't surprise me in the least that Windsor Terrace was not (until now) on the Yelp map. 2. Park Slope should not be taking all the flak for containing the most Maclarens / Baby Bjorns per square foot of sidewalk. After all, it was the Double Windsor on Prospect Park West that lead the pack in instituting a stroller ban after 5 p.m. (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/brooklyn/babies_bounced_after_at_windsor_NV2B1Yw7GlvFXy1wdY6rVO). The incidents leading to the stroller ban illustrate that, for the most part, the childless and those with child (or broods) who call this neighborhood home "blend but do not mix." Perhaps the most famous resident of Windsor Terrace was Isaac Asimov, who is believed to have written "Nightfall" in his family home here in 1941. In addition to its human denizens, Windsor Terrace boasts a large population of canine counterparts and perhaps the largest feral cat population in the borough. In addition to dozens of schools and rowhouses, Windsor Terrace also contains a strip of restaurants and local businesses on Prospect Park West that resembles a collegetown, the best of which are Terrace Bagels, Windsor Wines, DUB Pies, Krupa Grocery, and Le P'tit Paris. We prefer to stay in Brooklyn (my favorite city in the world) and live like a local for a few days, choosing a rental apartment over staying in a hotel. I like to explore different neighborhoods and the culture each one offers, as every one is distinct in their own right. This year we choose Windsor Terrace, a more residential and somewhat suburban neighborhood compared to ones in the past. We drove to Brooklyn instead of taking the train so the ample street parking was a key factor in our decision. Like mentioned before this neighborhood felt a little more suburban and featured a variety of home styles. While I didn't see any genuine brownstowns there were some with the same styling. Many of the homes had driveways and/or garages. The neighborhood was flanked by a highway on one side and the historic Greenwood cemetery on the other. The subway accessibility was not as saturated as in other neighborhoods so we opted to walk and drive. There were several small parks within walking distance that featured nice playgrounds for smaller children but limited green space. Overall it was much quieter and you almost forgot the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn was only a few blocks away. For me personally as much as I appreciated the safety and ease of parking I prefer someplace more upbeat and lively. We had to drive or walk a good 20-30 minutes to get to an area that had multiple retail and dining choices. In our immediate 5 block radius there was only a café, a pizza joint, and an ice cream place. The residents were all very nice and Sat and Sunday had "stoop sales" where everything was free. It was relaxing to walk around and check out everyone's items that were up for grabs. We enjoyed ice cream from Kathy's and sat in the park. Overall a nice visit, one that I would consider again if I was driving.

It's generally safe in the day. Wouldn't want to be there at night. It is a pretty iconic area. It's named after one of Brooklyn's main streets, which runs through the neighborhood. Just south of Prospect Park, there is lots to do and see. It has many chain stores like Target, but there's also lots of local businesses. There's restaurants serving a variety of cuisines from around the world. Go if you want to see what the real Brooklyn is like. It has less crime than it did a few years ago. Take a drive through an afternoon before it gets dark and you should be okay.

Thank you Morlene for the office hours & my free refresher! I appreciate you & your hard work. This was my first ever office hours with Morlene ! And had a great time with other yelpers. Met some new beautiful people also. Hopefully it will be a new beginning with new friends! I was gonna take pictures with everyone but we were so busy chitchatting I forgot lol..! I tried their iced cappuccino & it was great. They were very nice & gave us some bite sized snacks to try. It was delicious, I will definitely recommend this place to everyone! Thank you guys for everything!

Plus, it's just a short 2-min walk from Winthrop St Stop. You might even miss the spot easily because it's not too noticeable on the corner of a block. Ciao Bella (Italian) = "Hello/Goodbye, Beautiful" in English. Storefront isn't too big and the indoor space is on the smaller side. Nevertheless, the space size doesn't hurt the ambiance + relaxing vibes at the coffee shop. Upon arrival, the funky interior design gives off a vintage yet stylish sense. I see that people are sitting on the sofa & bar stools while drinking coffee and working on their laptops. Besides the indoor seating, there's an outdoor seating area both with red scaffold and ones out in the open with the sun beating down on people's back. Noise level wise is moderately quiet with the music playing in the background. What catches my attention the most are: 1) the glossy wooden guitar hanging on the wall as decorations & 2) a green felt chair with gold designs on the fabric material right next to the couch. I would love to have a comfy chair like that in my living room too. Super quick service from super respectful, friendly and helpful staff. Strong taste of coffee in the complimentary iced mocha that I'm able to order because of Morlene, thank you for treating us with drinks on a humid summer day. And the bonus is, she gifts us each of a studded Yelp tumbler who has showed up for the Yelp Community Event. Thank you to the staff (sorry I didn't get to catch your name) at Ciao Bella who comes out with a plate of Snickerdoodle and Chai cookies for the bites. There's free wifi and even a single clean restroom stall for customers in the back. The small conversation with each other is flowing with new restaurant and cafe suggestions/recommendations for future arrangements and exploring in the city. Everyone is so nice and interactive. I actually like having more intimate events like this at coffee shops because you get to have longer conversations and catch up with other Yelpers. Would like to see more workshop-related events in the future as well. I have stayed for the entire 3 hours for Ciao Bella, but you don't have to if you're in a rush. We're free to just grab a coffee and go or can stay for an hour or two and then leave on our own. No judgment and very chill vibes indeed. Thank you again to Morlene & Yelp for the Community Event invite. Thank you for the cute red Yelp tumbler. Grateful for Ciao Bella Coffee for hosting us at their cozy space.
