I called several seat shops and was told the cloth my seat cover was made out of was no longer available and was discontinued by GM. I decided to give John a try at Kenny's Upholstery. I recently had the convertible top replaced on my vehicle and the installation at first appeared flawless. I was very happy with their work. However the convertible top was not sealed properly. For the entire month of December, rain water had been leaking into the trunk of my car. By the time I noticed the leak due to their improper installation, the trunk had filled with literally an entire foot of water. Kenny's Auto Upholstery fixed the convertible top after three days. Unfortunately Kenny's Auto Upholstery has refused to provide any reparations whatsoever for the inconvenience they're mistake has caused me, or for the items in my car that were damaged including: a pair of fairtex boxing gloves,a water-logged book for school, and the corrosion caused to my fishing reel, I like to keep in my trunk for lake fishing. In spite of the damages exceeding $100 caused to my valuables, the several hours I spent gutting and soaking the moldy water out my trunk's upholstery and the inconvenience of having to leave my car to be serviced for 3 days, Kenny's Auto Upholstery has not provided any form of compensation or apology. -Joe read more

I have taken two different cars in to John and Denise at Kenny's for small repairs and both times the leather was matched perfectly (by my eyes) and the work was done quickly so I was not without my car for long. Volvo front seat, picked up next day and Lexus back seat, pulled seat in morning and re-installed that afternoon and I had my car all day. I found Kenny's through a referral from another upholstery shop since I was looking for a small job and not all shops will do a small repair. Found out about Kenny's on yelp, they were four star rated. I went in with a falling headliner in my crossfire, had a great consultation and booked an appointment. They were pretty booked up and the work they do explains why. I wanted a graphite suede headliner and they matched my seats exactly. I had my custom engine cover for my 2000 NSX redone at Kenny's. It needed a replacement of the fabric which goes over the fiberglass cover which enables you to put the T-Top on it. John, the owner (son of Kenny who's retired) made it based on the original one. Unfortunately when I came back with the car and the T-Top, it didn't quite fit perfectly because the fiberglass cover that the aftermarket company made was crooked. Neither of us thought to leave the T-Top there, so I think we agreed that it was both of our faults for not thinking this through. But in the process of trying to figure out how to make this work, I learned that John's very meticulous and a perfectionist. We talked over options on how to correct it, and John came up with a solution which ended up working out great. He added a soft material to the end which came out better than the original design. Sometimes things don't work out like you plan. But I'm pleased with the end result, and learned that if I come back for something else in the future that John's meticulous nature will ensure that the job will be done with the quality & care that I would expect. read more

5 STAR SERVICE ALL THE WAY!! These guys are amazing. I stopped by without an appointment and was welcomed in. They were busy, but dropped what they were doing to diagnose a problem with my electric seat. When I returned with the replacement part, I was again greeted with the same great attitude. They jumped right on it and started repairing my seat, while I waited. They got it done in a short amount of time and my seat is now as good as new. As a BONUS, they discovered that an airbag cable was incorrectly routed( from a previous repair at another shop). This cable was rubbing on the steel frame of the seat and would have eventually set the airbag off. These guys are great!! Stop thinking about it, and get over to Kenny's. read more

They were also honest about the condition of my seats, which I wanted repaired. John showed me how sun rotted the leather was and suggested that I replace them instead of wasting money to repair them. He gave me some suggestions on ordering replacements to save money. We had an order problem with Ocean Honda, Denise called her guy at RSM Honda, we received the cushion cover next day, installed day after that and it looks like new. After 6 years of putting up with 4 kids, my minivan was in dire need of some TLC on the interior. I was on the verge of trading it in but hoped to get a little more life out of the vehicle. The Honda dealer recommended Kenny's so I went to check it out. The office decor was underwhelming but they kept a full docket of work to do which is usually a good sign. They helped me choose which surfaces to repair, which to replace, and gave me a very clear breakdown of the costs and timing. I never felt at all like they were trying to run up the bill or pull one over on me. Rather, they treated my vehicle and my budget as if they were their own -- very conscientiously. Kenny is the rudest person I had ever talked to. I called to confirm my appt and asked if he had any military/veteran discount, but got nothing but the worst customer service exp in my life. The owner told me to go F**k myself and even try to overcharge me on the install of my leather seats and blame the confusion on the customer. Customer exp is part of the buying exp and it's something they lack. On that note, the lady was very nice to me and accommodated me in every way possible. I recommend that this company bans Kenny and his son from ever interacting with customers. They are very rude and unhelpful. When you call for a question and you feel like you're bugging them instead trying to transaction, you know you got problem. I went somewhere else for cheaper and equal quality. worst experience with a business in my whole life....after delivering all the materials for the job which he said would be cheaper for me to buy than for him to fabricate, he left them outdoors unsecured for at least a week and then when he started the job called me and told me my supplier short shipped me some seat back release cables and I'd have to order them. On my way there to show him my receipt and to assure him I delivered them to his business he called and said he found them. A week later he calls and gives me the same story about my head rest covers. When I show him my receipt and assure him I delivered them he blows up in my face and tells me " he doesn't loose stuff !" After ordering another set of headrest covers and the job is complete, I get there and he tells me he doesn't except credit cards.....I say, fine, I'll go get my checkbook. On my way home he calls and says he'll only except cash because he doesn't trust me. After paying him cash we go to the back of his shop where my white bucket seats are sitting on the ground and he has to use solvent to clean the dirt and glue overspray off and then doesn't even offer to help me put them in the back of my vehicle......Five thumbs down on this place! read more

I went over and had my newly purchased Lexus IS 250 looked at. My father has used them before so I figured it would be a good situation. They looked at my car and gave me a quote. I was called a day before my appointment and told by a sales rep Denise that they did not order the leather for my car because they wanted to ask me if I minded if they did it all in vinyl. I asked around about this and the idea of getting this repaired is to do so with the strongest material which is leather and this particular panal on the seat is alway first to wear. She told me it was either get it all done in cheap vinyl or they would have to order the leather and the cost of the hide would be rolled onto me even though I would not see the excess. I would basically be paying for them to buy a hide and use my portion and store the rest for a future job. The quote was already on the high end but now they are asking me to compromise on the quality of the materials which would just end up wearing through again. In the end they would not budge and said that they could order the leather which I though was being done when I took my car in and I could pay for the entire purchase and then use 12 inches of the leather and leave the rest for them to store. It was not a rare color or anything. Just a place trying to find a way to charge a great deal extra AND gain some leather stock for future jobs all on my back. I have never gotten anything done but this was just a bad business policy. I canceled , wrote this review and found another place in Mission Viejo that will do the job, had great reviews, will get the materials like a normal business and the quote was much lower for the repair. they won't charge me a bunch for the materiels because they realize they will now have that leather in stock for future use and they will get my business and I will recommend them etc. That is a good way to form a business relationship that will take me back to them for all my upholstery needs. Kenny's may do good work, I can't put that down because I am not a client and my father did say they were good so I will give them an extra star for that but their business decisions are not smart given the need for small businesses like this to retain clients and create business by word of mouth from a client that has a friend that has a job they can do. It's as important as their uphostery skills. I had a bad first impression of this place and will not give them business or recommend them for that reason. I wouldn't have minded if their policy on this was set and any extra materiels that they don't have in stock was my responsibility. I can understand if they don't want extra leather but this is something you tell me up front, perhaps when I take my car in to get a price quote and have it inspected is a good time to mention this. Not 2 weeks later and a day before I am scheduled to drop my car off. I also don't like how they tried to push me into doing it all with vinyl and not leather because it's cheap and improves their profit ( the quote for doing it all in vinyl was the same as it was when I was to get leather). Don't tell me it's better that way when this is a notorious spot on all drivers seats for wear and leather is a stronger material and will last longer and look better. Don't con me. Tell me it won't look as good or last as long as my research proves. Just be straight up from the beginning so I can find another place. That is really all anyone can ask. Gong above and beyond is not what I am looking for. just a bare minimum of courtesy for a potential new client. I expect people to go above and beyond and I like posting those review much more. But I won't write a bad review if you don't. If you just do the minimum I'm happy but I don't feel you do that here. I feel like you have a policy to call and tell people a day before an appointment, 2 weeks after the consult and try and push the cheap materials on them because in the end it makes you more and keeps you from having to stock materials but the hope is on your end the client is so ready to have the work be done they will compromise on quality because they have waited so long. that is why you are not up front about your policy. I called back just to see if they were still out of stock and all I hear was we don;t have your materials and If we buy it we have to push the cost onto you, push the cost onto you. push the cost onto you...over and over.
