I immediately followed them and haven't regretted in for a moment! I love their podcast "The Swarm" as well and fully recommend it to anyone looking for new audio material. I actually had the great pleasure of meeting one of the head honchos, Seamus McGuire, himself! This came about after I entered to win a 3D model of the Plaza Tower on their instagram and actually won it! Seamus was so kind as to meet me at Cicada on the weekend to let me see the studio and collect my model. I was beyond excited to do both! The work they do and the attitude they do it with speaks for itself! Check this place out!

I spent a great deal of time trying to navigate Sears (for Craftsman ) repairs, and eventually in a…read morechat session, found out that Sears has several service providers to support repairs. I brought my sputtering mower in, and was so surprised that Bo and team submitted the work as warranty as all was approved so no out of pocket expense! But beyond, when I picked up the unit..I had to ask Bo if they brought the right unit out to me..it was cleaned and tuned up to the point of looking and working as if I had a brand new machine! I come from the school of Lean Mfg. and just walking into their shop was pleasant--everything neat, labeled, organized, clean! I was so surprised that Bo wasn't out to charge outrageous money for and in fact suggested that he would try for Warranty approval first. ( I had taken this unit to a shop in Uptown, paid $90 in service fees, Owner had trouble even finding my unit, then told me he spray cleaned the carburetor, worked ok for 1 mowing ). I'm passionate about keeping my lawn up and so to have my mower returned almost like it was new..shiny, clean, and purring... thank you thank you thank you!

So why then, am I being charged for a quote which took all of 10 minutes?? The guy kept talking about nothing, and did not even have his tools with him when he performed the quote. And, if I had been told there would be a charge, then I would NOT have proceeded with this company. Switch and bait tactics. LIES. Let me say this company lies on the regular. They told me they would come out one day and waited all day and never showed up. Call back again to see where they were and the guy comes by and is here for 10 minutes and is billing me for $190 "service call". There was no service, we asked for a quote (which they said was free) and we had to call them multiple times for the quote. Them not showing up or even calling to say they were going to be late should have been the first red flag. When we told the guy what we wanted he just kept going on and on about it, so basically running up his time. Horrible business practices and dishonest. No, do not use this company for anything. If they lie and try to steal such a small amount, imagine what they will do for any sizeable job. Lies, lies and lies. I will be contacting the BBB and possibly the tv stations about their dishonesty. Trash.

The people at their counter can get parts for you and have no problem coaching you on tips to help you do your own work. The mechanics are very good and the service is fairly priced. Once you deal with Vaughn's, the big box stores just will never be good enough again. They are successful and very busy, but never too busy to help and explain. The Vaughn's and their family will help you no matter what you need. Friendly, professional, knowledgable, and completely helpful. This is what I realized....When something breaks and you can't do your work, you need to be able to get what you need. If you need parts, service, and information, the mega stores can't possibly compare. In some industries, the family-owned and managed businesses will give you the fastest results and a good value. Years ago there was an older gentleman who worked at Vaughn's. He told me something I have repeated many times....."Good things are not cheap and cheap things are cheap for a reason. Buy it once."

This is America; you sell a part, it breaks or is defective, its the business's job to send it back to their supplier. The counter person said "they have been doing this for a long time and have NEVER seen a defective part. I call hogwash on that. I am a retired Navy mechanic that has worked on everything from small engines & diesels to multi-million dollar jet powered support equipment and I HAVE seen my share of defective parts. Oh- they did offer to "look at my mower" but that's just a way for them to make more money off of you and try to find more wrong with your equipment and blame the operator or equipment for failure. Go to Pauli's Lawn Equipment; much better service and Danny not only works the counter, he works on equipment. Crank was straight so didn't bring back so you guys to tell me same and charge me for something else. The fact you wouldn't stand behind your product speaks volumes.... Thanks for at least the friendly counter service before I purchased the bunk part, that's why I at least gave two stars.

We hired Knock Out Electric/ George Murphy to do the electrical for a basic kitchen remodel. The…read moresubs he sent in to do the work ( neither are employees of his from what I understand) were incompetent. The first, who after 2 days on the job we requested he not come back d/t concerns of his mental health or other issues- and d/t messing up the recessed lights layout and transformer wiring. The second sub, was labeled the "project lead" and we were told to work with him to finish things up. Well he couldn't figure out how to make the cabinet lights work on a dimmer. His solution was to replace the whole set-up with AC tape lights, instead of just figuring out the transformer etc.. When we expressed our concerns to George he said he'd handed over the contract to Adam/ the second sub, and if we wanted the work finished/ fixed we'd have to pay him/ George more. Feels like a scam! So we're left with unfinished kitchen lights- they left a mess several times - and they refuse to finish. AND George deleted our communication on the joist app so we can't access the original estimate. Why would he need to do that? What is he hiding? Weird. He'll take your money, send incompetent subs in, not finish, leave a mess. Don't hire him because he doesn't care about the customer.

Mike came out the same day (in torrential flooding rain,) said I actually did a great job with the gaskets and he was able to adjust the door hinges so that it closes properly now. I was able to make bread at 450 degrees that night with no problem, when it could barely reach 350 before he came. Someone else on here complained about having to pay a service call for something that took only a few minutes. Well, I was thrilled to do it because I appreciated his honesty and expertise which saved me THOUSANDS of dollars. And making a trip to someone's house for free doesn't put food on his table.
