I bought a part for my mower and it came apart instantly due to bad casting of aluminum (which happens); they refused to warranty it and said, "if we take it back broken, what are we going to do with it, we can SELL you another one." This is America; you sell a part, it breaks or is defective, its the business's job to send it back to their supplier. The counter person said "they have been doing this for a long time and have NEVER seen a defective part. I call hogwash on that. I am a retired Navy mechanic that has worked on everything from small engines & diesels to multi-million dollar jet powered support equipment and I HAVE seen my share of defective parts. Oh- they did offer to "look at my mower" but that's just a way for them to make more money off of you and try to find more wrong with your equipment and blame the operator or equipment for failure. Go to Pauli's Lawn Equipment; much better service and Danny not only works the counter, he works on equipment. Crank was straight so didn't bring back so you guys to tell me same and charge me for something else. The fact you wouldn't stand behind your product speaks volumes.... This is a family business with very good customer service and a huge amount of machinery and parts inventory to keep your power equipment in good repair. The people at their counter can get parts for you and have no problem coaching you on tips to help you do your own work. The mechanics are very good and the service is fairly priced. Once you deal with Vaughn's, the big box stores just will never be good enough again. They are successful and very busy, but never too busy to help and explain. The Vaughn's and their family will help you no matter what you need. Friendly, professional, knowledgable, and completely helpful. This is what I realized....When something breaks and you can't do your work, you need to be able to get what you need. If you need parts, service, and information, the mega stores can't possibly compare. In some industries, the family-owned and managed businesses will give you the fastest results and a good value. Years ago there was an older gentleman who worked at Vaughn's. He told me something I have repeated many times....."Good things are not cheap and cheap things are cheap for a reason. This place is ridiculous!!! in a great way that is I had called around town looking for a cheap part for my mower. Most places didn't carry it. After getting the shaft from Joe's crappy lawnmower shop (never go there), i called The Lawnmower Man. He suggested Vaughn's. I wouldn't have thought about this place because its all the way in Kenner (the worst part about the place) I called Vaughns and spoke to Courtney. She was friggin awesome. She took my model number, looked up the part, said it was in stock. I asked for the part number so when I came there, it would easier to find. She said "Just tell me your name and I'll hold it for you." Was that anything extremely above and beyond, not really, but definitely the definiton of customer satisfaction. New Orleans had a tropical storm approaching our coast. I needed my generator repaired. I realized I had waited too late for this storm.I brought to Vaughns anyway. Even though they had many other customers Mr. Vaughn got on the job and had it ready the same day.He doesn't usually work on equipment much anymore. He has a staff of well trained mechanics. I found out later that many of his employees are family members.Everyone there was so kind to me I'll remember.For many years I worked for a famous family owned company Doerr Furniture.I knew if my customer needed something done in a hurry One of the owners would make it happen. It's the same at Vaughns. You can tell you are more than a number as soon as you walk in the door at Vaughns.If you are still not sure about what I say make them prove it.
