Hurricane Irene really took a toll on 20 foot hole. Most of the stream (and much of VT for that…read morematter) was devistated from huge flash flooding and the swimming hole was filled in with mud, silt,and rocks. Some of the locals have been trying to restore the swimming hole by scooping out the mud with buckets. I will update more this summer on this progress.

The instructor is so inspiring and fun. I can already see an improvement in flexibility and it's only been a couple of weeks! I'm losing weight and the whole experience is such a joy. I got on that boat, (no life jacket either!!), and then jumped into the water in the middle of the lake after being egged on by friends and lo and behold... I REALLY COULD STAND IN THE WATER!! Are you kidding me? I am in the middle of the lake and the water is only up to my chest, this is AMAZING, can I stay in here all day? I love water but am afraid of getting on boats, and much less JUMPING in the water...but this lake was amazing! Did I also mention that another it met my other large body of water criteria?? You could actually see down to the bottom of the lake where we were standing...um hmm...that's right...so clear, but of course it is! It's one of the 10 cleanest natural lakes in the WHOLE world! Imagine that, in tiny New Hampshire to boot! All this beauty surrounded by large trees, and cute lake houses. Even the islands in the lake looked like mini forests! P.S. Hate to harp on about how shallow some parts of the lake were, but I will because it was pretty amazing to see people standing in the water and playing catch in the middle of the lake, or a man pulling a nice sized boat with his fam on it with the water only up to his waist...it was practically like seeing Jesus walking on water or something!! I had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't making this up!!. I've never seen anything like it!!

Well, thanks to the donations of two clients of the Hogan Sports Center who defrayed the cost of renovations, the Hogan Sports Center gym is now brand new, with new equipment, new machines, new weights, and a totally new outlook. In addition, the student athletes who frequently were trying to do their team workouts while half the town was at the weight room, they now have their own varsity gym, located in what was one of the racketball courts downstairs, where they can drop weights without shaking the building. The staff is absolutely awesome. The offerings are also amazing, olympic size pool, yoga, Peloton, indoor running track, you name it. One totally complete facility.

This is the typical type of service they give and to boot they are arrogant. Customers service is. It their strength. On top of that their prices are extremely high. One would expect better service for such high prices. The last straw was when they charged by credit card without my authorization. Apparently they kept an old copy of my number and pin and use that charge my account and explain to them that this was illegal and fraudulent and ended my service with him. It is…read moreadjacent to Paradise Park, so you can take quite a little hike if that's your preferred activity. I personally like to take the Zig Zag trail up. You can't quite walk the entire way around the lake, but you can climb the hill and take a short walk to the entrance just past the legion. There is a gazebo to relax in across from the popular access point (near price chopper.) there are benches to sit and relax along the bank too. If you're taking kids fishing, the sunfish will be literally NONSTOP- so it keeps fishing exciting for kids but obnoxious for grown fishermen. No boats or swimming is allowed in this lake (if you need to swim, head to Kennedy Pond!) Do NOT drive down the driveway, it's not allowed for anyone for any reason (unless you live on the road.) Also be aware of the "no parking between signs" because the fire department requires access at all times and you WILL be ticketed if you choose to ignore the signs. There's plenty of parking, don't be that guy!

Once privately owned by the Everett's family, it is now co-owned by the Town of Windsor and a local conservation organization. The lake is mostly for visual beauty and wildlife, as much all recreation is off limits. Not boats or swimming is allowed. I believe fishing may be off limits too now, but I used to fish here all the time. (The lake has huge carp, bass, and pickerel, and other crap fish). Access to the lake is from a path across the street from Price Chopper. Another is on State Street which is a walk in- only access road across from the School. More hiking paths as well from Paradise Park.
