I was really hesitant to write a review, but I feel like I need to express my disappointment. Being JAS weekend (and Chris Stapleton playing), I expected the store to be busy - and it was. There was a huge line out the door and the store was shoulder to shoulder. In itself, fine... but what I wanted to be a fun experience buying my first Kemo Sabe hat was rushed, I felt pressured to make quick decisions and was never even given more than one hat to try on. "This is our best selling hat" was the answer I got and you could tell - there were girls EVERYWHERE with the same one. What I hoped to be a hat I LOVE is a hat that I just like... not what you want from a big purchase. read more

Horrible customer service. And obviously the business is intending to rip customers off. There are signs in the store suggesting that their merchandise is in fact overpriced. One sign in particular actually suggested that customers should slide cash under the door if they're not open, presumably so that you can waste money there regardless of the hour. Why not just tell your customers "fuck you" when they walk into the store? I think it would be a much quicker way to get your point across. read more

Spied some baby sized cowboy boots on Instagram the other day and ordered them for my great grand daughter. Ive shopped Kemo Sabe in person a few times as well and there is NOTHING like this shop anywhere else in the world. Burns in Park City is a contender but they dont have a BAR. A great place to browse with some of the nicest people Ive ever run into. They'll help you find jewelry or a hat or some fine looking boots. Hope to shop in person soon! read more

First experience at the Aspen store was great. Second experience was the opposite. I bought a lovely hat there 4 years ago and loved it. Customer service was on point. Came back to buy another this week, and service was fine until I checked out. The sales person put my brand new light colored hat in one of their dark colored bags. It stained the light colored hat because they had steamed the hat. I came back the next day and they attempted to clean it unsuccessfully. Didn't offer to provide me a New hat which I think they should have since the stains were not my fault. Disappointed and won't be going back. Stuck with my $345 stained hat. read more

Was visiting Aspen and stopped into this store as I view it as an iconic spot. Being such an iconic spot, the workers should be respectful and accommodating to ALL who come in the store. There was a tall, skinny, blonde worker at the cashier and as I walked up to check out (yes I was purchasing items, despite her faces and what she thought), she looked at me and walked away to go help other customers. I was about to put back the items, but thankfully a younger man who was working the other cash register took me and helped me out. Extremely disrespectful of the blonde woman and honestly I don't think she should work there if she is going to turn away potential business. read more

Recently did my first order with them (online - I live too far). It was a totally great experience. I had to do an exchange (my fault - didn't fit) and it was so nice to get such a fast response. Don't bother to try and get into the store. It's roped off and only certain people are invited in by the obnoxious employees. After patiently waiting in line for 20 minutes and we were next in line, the obnoxious employees let other people in front of us claiming they had "appointments". If you take appointments then offer them to everyone, not just your friends. Lost a big sale! read more

We had loads of fun browsing around this family-owned Western apparel store. A sign inside boast it's "Aspen the way it used to be." That's probably true, when more folks walked around in leather pants, fringed jackets, and cowboy hats. They have just about everything here in the way of leather goods: hats, jewelry, belt buckles, bags, travel accessories, and more. The women's boot selection was fantastic. Need a sheep skin or a cow hide? They have them here, along with several taxidermy specimens, including a wolvereen and a skunk. Be prepared to drop some serious dough but I feel like the quality here is worth it. Otherwise, there's plenty of eye candy in this store to enjoy if you'd just like a diversion while strolling through town. read more

Kemo Sabe has one of a kind engraved belt buckles, boots, and other western accessories. I found a beautiful 3"x2" silver belt buckle and inquired about the price - it was $2350. For a belt buckle. Nothing wrong with that, but that's the kind of price range you are going to get here. Be prepared to drop some serious coin if you are interested in any belts, buckles or boots. The employees were very helpful and explained the different price points of each type of buckle (and the reasons for the price points). The belt buckles are all individually engraved/carved and they aren't mass produced - which accounts for their high prices. You will find beautiful and unique wares here, but as I said, be ready to open your wallet. read more

What a pleasure, what a place, what an authentic experience. We first stumbled on Kemo Sabe two years ago and I always admired a hat that Ronald Reagan had in a 1980 campaign poster. Well wouldn't you know the campaign poster is hanging there and I said to Emily (the best ask for no one else but her) I want that hat. So after custom fitting, steaming, shaping etc. I now have one for myself. This year my wife bought boots, my son a great looking hat and me well I got a fancy hat for Sundays and evenings out. Kemo Sabe - Shoe Stores Near Me - Aspen, Colorado

I ask my serious shopper friend where to go for boots - she says KemoSabe. I trek out into the wild, wild west of the Haute Aspen retail scene to find it's a cowboy boot store. Damn. A cool store for what it is, but I'm not interested. Plus, the selection of ladies boots is small. A day or so later, I bop back in with friends, who linger. I check out the cowboy hats (not for girls, unless you're employed on a ranch, farm or....... maybe for Carmen Electra in some cheese ball photo shoot), the hat embellishments (sold separately), the belts, the boots, the general cowboy ware - there are talented craftspeople making some good old cowboy stuff. The place is authentic. A real Western type store. (Do I sound too Boston here?) Anyway, the coolest part of all - I see a guy come in to have his hat adjusted/steamed to a new shape (interesting) and note the very best, most unique part of the store (hence the write up and four stars) - while he's waiting, he walks over to the old fridge I thought was a prop, opens it and grabs a himself a free, icy cold beer?! Huh? A new concept? Anyone? Beers and shopping? Yee haw. read more

Visited the shop while in Aspen on vacation. Was very disappointed with the layout of the store along with the sub-par merchandise. Being in Aspen I expected a much more pleasant shopping experience. I found the store to be boring and it resembled a souvenir shop. I was hoping to find upscale, unique items. I could not find anyone to help me locate something I was looking for. When I finally got help, she was rude and off-putting. Aspen deserves better shops! read more

All are nice, have patience, make conversations and help you out a lot. They gave me a little present for my boots:))) and showed me how to use it and the Yelp check in offer was honored. At first they were like:"what is this?" But a phone call solved the problem. I received an email back the next day from Bridget who was wonderful and so incredibly helpful. Wow! Overpriced pseudo-western stuff that you'd find on the Western Slope for a fraction of the price, but my issue is with the service. The details matter less than than the fact that the attitude was so bad, it had to be the owners because you would fire any staff member that behaved that way with clientele. If you want to have a truly negative shopping experience pop into this cowboy shop! We stopped in and with a team of at least 8 standing by, no one said hello, no one asked if they could help and when we walked up to the register to purchase a gift card, the woman who came to help us gave us an eye roll and shake of her head. Although $500 may not be a big purchase, it would go toward a bigger ticket item. Sorry Kemo Sabe - no friends here! Lost a glove in Aspen and didn't want to wear my ski gloves around town. Stopped by Kemo Sabe, they have some awesome deerskin gloves. The insulated ones with the polyester are warm while the normal ones make great dress/driving gloves. Very nice leather. tanned beautifully and not too expensive either ($50 is fair generally, great for Aspen and incredible for Kemo Sabe given they are delivering a first class retail experience as well). Boots, buckles, etc. are awesome but expensive. If you have the dough, live in a place where cowboy is cool and want to shop while in Aspen, this is your spot. Other Western stores have a good amount of the mid-range stuff but probably can't touch them on the high end / custom boots etc. read more

I was here 5 years ago & bought a silver buckle and two belts. Since then I've been dying to return for one more belt in a darker brown. The two I've had have been worn so much! Tonight I entered and asked a salesgirl to help me with my purchase. She was so patient & so helpful. The first brown belt she pulled in my size was $900 - whew! I told her my price range was more like $200. She never made me feel weird about that - she grabbed several in my price range and told me about the skins, etc. I choose a shark skin belt and it's perfect. Fun place! With all the big name stores in Aspen, it's nice to have a place that's a throwback to the way Aspen used to be.

I was in their new store in Vegas about 3 weeks ago and fell in love with a pair of boots on clearance. (Clearance price was still $230, so they weren't cheap.) Vegas was out of my size. A few days after I got home, I called the Aspen store to see if they had my size and they did! I was ecstatic! They happily shipped them to me. Shipping was $30 and they got to me in record time. The sales woman in Aspen was friendly and awesome. I will definitely order from them again. read more

We love this store!! My Husband went in for a Cowboy hat on New Years Eve and we both left with one each. We also enjoyed the free beers that evening.
