I very rarely write a negative review about any business, but I felt compelled to do so after my…read moreexperience with Lawn Doctor. We have been a client for more than 3 years and they take care of our front lawn in Milford. It's a small yard down by the beach that has irrigation. Every spring the lawn looks beautiful and about mid summer, patches start appearing all over the yard. This is the third consecutive year it has happened. I've called them and to be fair, they have responded to my concerns by coming out to look, but they never seem to be able to fix the problem. They said it receives too much sun, and being down by the water, sometimes it is prone to getting a fungus. The first time this happened, I asked if they could address the problem pre-emptively which they indicated they could and I assumed they would with the regular service. Next year, same problem. Once again, I asked about addressing it before it happens. They informed me it was a 5 treatment option and I had missed the first two treatments so they weren't sure it would solve the problem. This baffled me because this isn't a new problem. If I have to be the one to figure out how to prevent this, why do I need them? Also interesting is that all the houses are close together and receive the same sun and not one of the other lawns has this problem. Even more interesting is that our back lawn (which they don't treat because we have dogs and I don't want people coming in through the gates on the chance they are outside) is fine also. I take care of that myself.
Today I had enough of the excuses and run around. Not once have they offered to treat our lawn for free to fix the problem. They simply charge me for services, even when they've done a terrible job. But what pushed me over the edge is the complete lack of accountability for their work and the complete and utter rudeness I was met with when I expressed my dissatisfaction. They asked me to call them, which I couldn't at that moment and added that I was done talking about it. I simply wanted it fixed. When I copied a quote from them from a year ago, they made a snarky comment of "I thought you were done talking". At that point I was done with them. They are the worst company I have ever encountered. Customer Service is awful. They have no accountability for their service and make constant excuses instead of standing by their work. If I could give them zero stars I would. They are rude, incompetent and arrogant. If you care at all about your lawn, decent service or decent people, I would absolutely look for someone else to service your lawn. All I wanted was a simple apology for not providing the preventative we had spoken about and a promise to provide free service until the issue was fixed and to be treated with respect. Instead they were obnoxious, but did offer offer a free "seeding" in the fall if it didn't clear up, while still having me pay for treatments that clearly haven't been working. This isn't a one time overreaction. It's been happening for three years!
I get that running a business isn't easy to do, but treating people the right way and standing by your work should be pre-requisites no matter what the business is. Tara, Dan, Erika and the rest of the crew have lost our business which may not matter to them since it's a relatively small job, but if their attitude continues, eventually they'll lose business they do care about. ZERO stars.
