The problem with a company like this is that you deal with one person and if that person is a disappointment, you have no recourse and no way to communicate with a more competent individual.
2/26/16 - I applied for a job online.
2/29/16 (the next business day) The recruiter called me and left me a vm. -- yahoo! this looks promising, right?
3/1/16 (the next business day; 2 business days since applying) I returned her call and left a message with a person who answered the phone.
3/2/16 (the next business day; 3 business days since applying) I emailed the recruiter because I wasn't sure if the person who took the message relayed it, wrote my name wrong, etc. No response.
3/3/16 (4 business days since applying) no response to my email or phone call
3/4/16 (5 business days since applying) no response to my email or phone call
3/7/16 (6 business days since applying) no response to my email or phone call; I checked the site and the job I applied for has been pulled/filled. I emailed the recruiter expressing my disappointment with the lack of follow-up.
First, let me say this - she called me. That means I was in the running. But we never actually spoke. To ignore a resume because it isn't qualified is one thing. This woman, Sarah, simply chose to ignore me. Based on the timeline, I assume it's because she filled the role. This was my first interaction with someone from Kelly.
Second, if you've never been on the side of the company who has hired a staffing agency, let me tell you a little something - they make LARGE commissions on direct hires, which this was. Sarah probably stood to make $15,000 on this. Well, Kelly did. I can't be sure what her cut is.
Bottom line - she was eager to talk when it suited her and AWOL when it wasn't.
The next time I am in a position to use an agency for recruiting, I know I won't pick this one since I didn't like how she treated me as an applicant. read more
