Pathways have been added to get park goers from point to point without the need to trudge through muddy wet ground when it is rainy season. The playground surfaces are all weatherproof, which is a fantastic addition to the playground. This park has plenty of space for picnic and pavilions for parties. It has a train that operates seasonally through the park that features a tunnel and other exciting activities. There is a large city pool also included in the park that has a brand new structure, including a very nice competitive swim area stands, diving area, etc, along with changing rooms, showers, concessions, etc. There is also a putt putt course located within the park. Additionally, the park includes a tennis center and tennis lessons as well as organized tennis events and a tennis league.

Also features a really old cannon in the parking lot between the swimming pool and gold course. At the second playground there is a swingset for wheelchairs and toddler seats. Normally everyone that comes here is super friendly and corteous like on the running track. Doesnt cost a cent to come here and its always nice to get fresh air and have fun!

It's a fascinating history And one that you have to spend a little bit of time going to the museum and understanding the different angles. I guess that's a purpose of a museum, right? We learned a little bit about Judge Isaac, Parker, as one of the first influences that had to deal with the wild West murderers and people committing heinous crimes that until he arrived, didn't face many consequences as there was no federal government system that was in control of the area and the tribunal process did not cover non-native Americans. Fascinating history. You can even see a replica of the courthouse as well as the gallows as they were over 160 people hang here. Take a rock across the railroad tracks and read a bit about the trail of tears. There are plenty of areas to contemplate the history. Bring a picnic, there are many places to relax and spread out. The Master Gardeners and U of A care for the park and it was much cleaner and nicer than I expected. Multiple gazebos, murals, hedges and potted plants, and a fountain and statue in the middle. Alma is the #1 spinach producer so they have the Popeye Gardens to represent that. Definitely worth checking out. Lots of parking available and a nice downtown main street near the high school with sidewalks.

This is a small park located in the heart of Fort Smith, Arkansas. It is right in front of Fort…read moreSmith National Historic Site and has its own decent sized private parking lot on the side. The park is named after Ross Pendergraft, a prominent resident who was the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Donrey Media Group, a national media company. There is not much to this park. It is relatively small and features a Bass Reeves statue titled, Into the Territory. You will also find a covered stage/pavilion (which serves as a unhoused person camp) and some benches that are positioned along the parks paved walkways. There is a patch of green space, but nothing large enough for playing field sports. The park's primary purpose is relaxation, picnics and small to medium special events. The park is well maintained and has a capacity of about 500. It should be noted that the park does not have any restrooms or water fountains, so, plan accordingly. This park has a decent sized green space and is the site of many special events inclusding the city's Fall Festival, the Fort Smith Lambda Society Pride event and group exercise classes including their popular Zumba class. An interesting fact about the park is that a time capsule is located there, behind the Bass Reeves statue, and is to be unearthed in 2118, 100 years after being buried.
