Keller Haux is the Pub/Bar in the basement of the Brat Haus in Woodstock. Newly Opened in June with a menu much larger than what you will see on the website, which is actually the website for the Brat Haus and Keller Haus is on their site. It is cool temperature wise, and in the basement so would be the perfect place on a hot summer day.
I arrived after a meeting around 5:30 and a couple other tables were filled, and since I was by myself, I sat at the bar. More people filled in as time went on and I guess they currently have Trivia there on Wednesday's so I stick around and did that for a while.
The menu is pretty big and features brats and sausages as well as a few other German inspired dishes. Also standard various burgers and do on. See menu. The size of the place is on the smaller side and cozy. The service I got was good and the bartender, Whose name is Rah, was taking care of everyone with efficiency and friendliness and that seems to be a rare thing lately. By the time I left there was a lot going on and he was handling it like a pro.
They have a really good variety of beers. I had a hard cider and a Yuengling . The Yuengling was on special as well as half price wines on Wednesdays.
So I had the pork Schnitzel sandwich with the German potato salad for my chosen side. It came with honey mustard, lettuce, raw onion and pickles. I would have liked it more with a grainy mustard and sautéed onion skip the lettuce, cuz ugh lettuce lately... and I thought it weird it was served with ciabatta roll. I skipped the lettuce and condiments, saved the ciabatta for my to/go box. So the Schnitzel was good, hot and crisp outside and tender inside. I also got the onion rings which were the right size for one and I thought a little expensive for the size serving but not bad. I would say if I'm super critical I've had better but I've had way more worse than that too so this would be in the much better than most category. Next time I'm trying one of the brats or hamburger and there are quite a few choices there to pick from.
I would definitely come back for a nice relaxing experience with friends and maybe some trivia. read more
