Paid parking permits were implemented as a form of revenue. They write tickets if you don't get their parking pass. Why you may ask? Money. Pure and simple. The parking lots were already established long before these fees. There are far too many spaces at all of the campuses for the student population, so it's not about scarcity. If you end up with a parking ticket after paying for your classes, they will still send automated threatening messages to you saying you may be dropped and tacking on extra arbitrary late fees just because you haven't paid them 20$. Don't want to pay for your classes until they start? Too bad, you get a late fee. The customer experience is terrible. Making it seem like straight extortion the entire way through. The place has become a pay to play college and lost it's local charm. So glad I got my AA years ago and only had to take a few classes. Terrible place. Terrible quality professors. Department chairs that don't answer their phones/emails/or return calls. Most online classes are paying to teach yourself a topic. The quality of education has gone down, and the price has gone up. Make it make sense.

Some expect that they will hand you your degree! Sorry, this is not the place for you. They strive for perfection! They expect you to be self sufficient and responsible for turning in all course work on time and following the syllabus. I preferred the Palm Bay Campus. I need some other courses to keep up in my field and plan on taking them online.

The one and only disappointment is that FIT does not have a football team. The registrar's office replied quickly and was very helpful. I contacted the Vet center, and they are all helpful and answer all my questions -- and there are times when I am behind schedule due to taking classes and working full time, the Vet center contacts me to make sure I have done my part. When I have contacted the Finance office, saying I am waiting for approval from the VA, the Finance office is helpful, patient, and professional. I had questions before I even applied to FIT, and I was able to have a Zoom meeting with the advisor and the dean, and I have had several conversations with the advisor -- he is always helpful. I am working on a doctorate, and at the beginning, he is always supportive. I was told he is there to help me succeed. The fundamental research, stats, and qualitative professors are absolutely amazing. The librarians are superb. There have been times or two that I was online, asking for help, and the librarians were online with me for up to an hour. This is an outstanding university: highly recommend!!!

I didn't even have access to my student email for a long time, which made it nearly impossible to stay on top of things. My assigned advisor never introduced herself, never checked in, and never provided any help with registration or degree planning. I had to contact Student Support just to find out who my advisor even was -- and only after I reached out myself did she finally send me my degree plan. Until then, I had absolutely no idea what classes I was supposed to take. Every department I interacted with dropped the ball in one way or another. Communication is poor, processes are confusing, and there's zero proactive support for students. Compared to other universities I've attended, this was by far the most disorganized and disappointing experience.

The Master Gardener's Plant Clinic will analyze your soil, identify that weed or bug and tell you how to fix it. This location also offers classes on creating a rain barrel, growing vegetables in Central Florida and healthy cooking. University of Florida IFAS Extension has beautiful gardens were you can stroll and see how to raise butterfly plants, create a square foot or raised garden or just chill in a tranquil garden. Behind the main building they have gardens were you can wander, explore and learn. They send out a newsletter, publish a class schedule and offer a plant fair once a year. The best part of this service is that for the most part it is free. There are some nominal charges for materials on classes but if you are nesting both inside and out, you have to check out this place for ideas and great learning opportunities.

I mention this because I was not certain as to whether the old office for the UF Extension still operated there. Which it is not. But the Mable Butler Family Center is there. Must be nice to be an elected official and name a government facility after yourself. If that is the case, then I am renaming the Florida Citrus Bowl as the Big Al Bowl. That's if I am ever elected in office. Anyway, the University of Florida IFAS Extension is there for all your questions for landscaping and gardening. Or even houseplants. They offer free pH soil tests, plant identification, pest identification (not the pests you find at a night club), advice on nutrient deficiencies, plant health, irrigation, and solutions to any problems related to landscaping and gardening. If you are having a problem with a house plant, like I just recently had, you can take the plant there for an analysis. Assistance is offered to both home and commercial landscaping, and agricultural business. Horticulture classes and workshops are offered, along with clinics and tours. You can stop in to the center and pick up any brochures and fliers offering the information that you need. The extension is offering a Urban (Backyard) Chicken Class for those interested on Tuesday, April 12th from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. You can call 407 254-9208 for more information. So if you have a problem with your sod or soil, problem with a plant or pest, bring a sample to the Extension. They will be more than happy to help you out. The extension plant clinic is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

It really looks nice. Of all the campuses at BCC, this one seems to have received most of the growth in recent years. I never had any problems at this campus. Staff and teachers were friendly for the most part. It is a very easy campus to navigate. They offer most of the courses one would need for their degree at this one campus. I received mine in Computer Information Technology and this campus offered most of the classes I needed. Parking is pretty good, except it pushes you further south when the lot gets full. Once again, like the Melbourne campus, it can be a trek if you have a class on the north side of the campus and are forced to park further south. But this wasn't a problem most of the time for me. I handled most of my financial aid paperwork at this campus. They worked with me and really walked me through the process. I've heard horror stories from students attending other colleges about their financial aid experiences. I'm glad it wasn't like that for me at BCC. So yeah, the Palm Bay campus is nice. It's growing. It still has a smaller feel to it, but it looks really nice. The teachers are good. The education is sound. Classes are affordable. Hours are flexible. What more could you ask for from a community college?
