I can't say enough about Dr. Dalsimer. The problems that I was having with a particular family member amounted to something that I truly believed was beyond repair. I begrudgingly entered into family therapy so that I could at least demonstrate that I "tried." Never did I think that the relationship could not only be repaired but could be positive and joyful. Now, I have something that I never dared to hope to have: a loving, positive relationship with this family member. I started seeing Kei when changes in my career increased my stress and anxiety levels to an almost crippling degree. I was new to therapy, and Kei made the experience very comfortable. She gave me tools and resources to work on in between session so that each session built on the last. I was pleased to find that she wasn't just able to help me manage my stress and emotions, but she also became a coach to help me be better in the job I have now and plan for what might come in the future. My fiance and I recently saw Kei for pre-marital counseling and we think it's the best money we've spent for our wedding. Kei really showed us how to be more conscious about what we do in our relationship, which we weren't doing so much before. Before, it was always about "me, me, me" and not so much about "us" and just from the 4 sessions, we've learned to change the way we communicate and think. We discussed our childhood and parents, our conflict style, kids, expectations, outlook and so much more. It was nice to discover these things about my partner and we came away with a better understanding of each other. Kei is very patient and kind and you automatically feel comfortable with her. We were nervous about doing pre-marital counseling because we were uncomfortable with discussing our relationship with a complete stranger. We are two very private people (I'm an extremely shy and introverted person) but we actually looked forward to the sessions! Kei gives great advice on how to improve your relationship and she never made us feel embarrassed about anything. She was fake and judged me from the first appointment. I let it slide as maybe I was being too sensitive. After the first appointment she texted and said the check I wrote her bounced. I though there is no way. I had never written a bad check but I was still frantic to call the bank. When I discovered that she actually again quickly judged me and the check was bounced by another client, I couldn't really sit and look her in the face. I ended up finding another really great therapist that was so genuine, gave me solid life advise on all dynamics of my professional life and personal life. As for Kei, I think she took one look at me, judged based on my looks and does not give sincere advice or coaching at all. read more

Kei was actually the second therapist after a terrible experience with my first therapist. I went through therapy with Kei for about a year (I was in a very dark place and knew I needed help) and am grateful for her help. She really listened to me and was accepting. The fact that she has her nurse practitioner license eased me and proved that she does care about people. I'll admit that therapy wasn't easy but with her support it made it a lot easier. I found Kei on Yelp (thanks yelpers!) and went to see her because our teenager was having problems, which affected the whole family. Since we were in a crisis, we saw her twice a week: Once as a family and once with just Kei and our teenager. In a short amount of time, Kei was able to help our family work together and function again. Kei listens well, asks good questions and understands where we need to focus our discussions. She is able to identify what is at the root of an issue and offers thoughtful and effective solutions. Our family has been thru many therapists....from family to individual to marital. We started off by going thru our insurance but were unhappy with the results. I found Kei on YELP. She was so different from the other therapists in that she has a medical background as a nurse practitioner and is therefore, treatment based. I got so sick of just "talking" or "reading books"...... I wanted a clear plan.....with homework.....with results. Kei was the pivotal force that forever changed our family....and saved our son. We were struggling with a boy who had ADHD and depression. It clearly became obvious that he also struggled with social problems.....having fights with the neighbors......playing with kids younger than his age.....not forming any solid relationships (no best friend). His sadness deepened as he felt like he didn't belong.....he felt weird. He than expressed suicidal ideations........I was so scared of losing him....we went to Kei! She validated our concerns and picked up on all the details. She sent us to UCI Center for Autism for an evaluation......our son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and being twice exceptional. We started behavioral therapy immediately! I now have a son who understands his deficiencies .....is actively working on his social awareness.....and is finally liking himself enough to make solid friendships and not worry about the kids who don't approve of him!
