It's crazy how time flies!…read more My last review for Eden's Market was in 2013. I stopped in here recently on my trip to the area. I was so relieved to see that it still existed. It was perfect for stocking up on some simple healthy grocery basics to tie me over during my brief stay. I got some vegan smoked gouda, some coconut aminos, and some natural spring water. The smoked gouda was perfect for making some quick snacks on my flight home and I took the coconut aminos in my checked luggage to enjoy once we were back in CA. The owner is always eager to help offer advice or help you navigate the store. I was particularly impressed with their growing CBD tea collection. If you're looking for some healthy vegan, paleo, or gluten-free snacks this is your spot. Trust.

Tucked away off the side of busy Mt. Lebanon, Eden's Market is WAY too easy to miss. I was looking…read morefor this shop though because they partner with Ugly CSA, and I wanted to pick up my bag of veggies from local Pittsburgh farmers. (As for a book comparison, Eden's Market puts me in mind of A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf.) Eden's Market offers a bunch of specialty items for gluten-free folks, and they partner with local farmers for meat and other offerings. While I'm not gluten-free, I have a few friends that are, and this find will help me take better care of those friends when I host them. I also loved that I was able to find some sustainably made toothpaste and other household essentials. They carry different toiletries and more as well.

Disclaimer, I'm not a regular shopper at Fresh Thyme Market - not because the store is bad per se,…read morebut because it's pricey. Fresh Thyme is an organic food supermarket chain, so I'll stop in occasionally to see what's new and/or to treat myself to some "fancy" groceries. Because of the cost of their items though, I'll shop here for supplemental goodies after getting my main haul elsewhere. (For me, Aldi and Trader Joe's are stops #1 and #2. Places like this, Giant Eagle, and The Fresh Market are where I go "just because" or when I want to splurge on groceries.) When I do stop in I always explore the baked goods and frozen foods - usually there are items and brands in these sections that aren't at other stores. (A lot of items are gluten free, too, which I know makes a difference to a lot of people.) I generally skip the produce and deli sections; the selections in both are decent but I can find these things elsewhere for less. And here's something I've never had to say about a grocery store before: I ALWAYS walk right past their supplements section, which is (in my opinion) unnecessarily large. I could talk at length about my problems with how supplements are (not) managed in America, so before I bog down my own review we'll move right along! Final thoughts: their selection is fine, and in theory it's great that they sell a variety of "healthy" things. In practice though, the food products are overpriced, and there are enough vitamins and supplements on sale that I almost question whether or not this should be classified as a grocery store. While I'll pop in and out of here occasionally, I'll never be a regular shopper.
