It definitely does feel like a neighborhood Barber Shop. But, enough about the architecture in the history: let's talk about the haircut. The cut I got was exactly what I wanted, and it only cost $13 (she did such a good job and I gave her a tip to make it $20, and that's still a lot cheaper than you'd pay anywhere else). When I was there, there was a guy with his dog; the dog sensed that I had dogs, and jumped in my lap. Yes, it's that kind of laid-back place where everybody's a friend, and where they don't seem to mind adding you to the list of friends. And, of course, they do a bang up job with haircuts, for a very reasonable price.

Don't do it - you won't. The best endorsement is when you see a dad bringing his boy in for a haircut & the barbers know both by first name. Then the barber asks how grandpa's doing because grandpa is a patron too! This is one of the last true barbershops in the area & you won't go wrong checking them out. My hair was down to my collar, and Sue took great care of me. She was professional, welcoming, and very accommodating. I walked out actually looking and feeling like a new man, which doesn't happen often these days. The entire staff was friendly and made the experience relaxed and comfortable. The shop itself has a strong sports theme, which I really enjoyed--especially since my favorite team, the Wolverines, were front and center. There are a couple of TVs in front of you while the barbers work, plus easygoing conversation that makes the time fly by. I've been to places that slap the word "barbershop" on the door and think posters and attitude make up for skill. DB's proves that a real barbershop is about knowing how to cut hair, keeping up with current styles, and treating customers right. This was my first visit, but it definitely won't be my last.

When you have a client in the chair getting their haircut, remember they are paying for a service, when they are in the chair its their time. And if you must chat can you maybe complete the task at a volume level not at a level that you would if you were working in say a Steel Mill? I have never not tipped 30% when I come here, because very few places know how to cut a High & Tight and not make you look like Moe from the 3 stooges.
