We've seen a few picnickers up here, but not many- this park is aptly adored by those in the know, without being as popular as it deserves to be. There are some kid playground areas, a basketball hoop (it deserves a few more of those, honestly), there's a great walking loop, running up the stairs, and wildlife (we heard and saw a redtailed hawk recently), and lots of green space! I think the bottom of the hill to the north deserves a bandshell, as the slope up the hill would make a perfect "Chill on the Hill 2" space for music and neighborhood gatherings. Just when you think you've seen MKE at its finest along comes another breathtaking spot to view the place from. The latest spot has one the most spectacular views I've experienced to date. You can see all of downtown and even as far out as Lake Michigan when it's clear. The place is Kilbourn Park! Reading fellow Yelpers reviews I am floored that this was once a closed off area and you couldn't even get around up top to experience it. Either way it is what it is now a beautiful park for all to enjoy! It is what I would call the edge of Riverwest proper. If you look back to the North you will see the tallest site in Riverwest, Our Lady Divine Providence church, with its stunning green roof standing there all alone in all its glory. We've never been at one, but we've seen some take place while we've just been there during a free time. They have bins for when toys get icky and need to be taken away from the rest of the stuff. Everything seems to be very well organized, cleaned really well and the equipment is really interesting and different than a lot of other play places. Again, I think it's suppose to be giving sensory needs to a wide range of individuals and children. And it's cool! They also have a calming room with a beautiful mural on the inside as well as an infant room which is a great way to section off some of the smaller kids so there's less likely for injury. The main area does have running around, swinging, jumping, but that's what you're there for! They have dress up costumes, coloring space, a giant chalkboard wall and trampoline. I will say the staff is usually hosted by one or two younger people, there's no real problem with that except when they were experiencing technical issues with their portal to be able to login to register your kiddos. That happened a few times a handful of months ago, but now they've switched to a new system and that all seems 100% better. We've been there multiple times and we will continue to go back, our twins love it.

The bus that plays a fun beat. Post office area. Mechanic shop. Baby dedicated area. Little sad to see the baseball "exhibit" go away but looking forward to how they fill the space next. We had our friends from another city meet us here for a 9:30 am Saturday play date. There was a bit of a line to get in, but nothing too crazy. Both kids (3 years old) had an absolute blast! The cost is reasonable, at only $14 per person (adults included) and you receive a $3 off voucher for the adjacent parking garage ($7 and some cents total after taxes). There is something to do for children of all ages, including. a quieter play area for tots and babies 4 and under, which was much needed after my daughter was trampled by a much older child in the Floor is Lava area. My daughter especially loved the outdoor play area on the balcony! I wish the cafe had more to offer or that there was a legitimate cafe attached with lunch options. We spent a solid 2 hours here, and could have spent even longer had we not had the hour drive back home before lunchtime. We will definitely be adding this place to our yearly "to do" list!

The different displays keeps us going back every few months. We were able to see all 3 domes in an hour: Show Dome, Tropical Dome, and Desert Dome. Compared to the Desert Dome in the Omaha Zoo, these domes were smaller. Nevertheless, these domes have varied plants from different parts of the world which were amazing to see. The Show Dome has a small short bridge and a gazebo which were nice areas to take pictures. A small gift shop sells some small plants, magnets, shirts, jewelry, pins, etc. Overall, it's a good place to visit.

When we arrived make up/hair/outfits ready to go on Sat the park was closed for a private event! Now we looked it up and this private event was being advertised but not in such a way that gave ANY impression that the park would be otherwise shutdown!! They should have posted additional signs to note that the park would be closed. We couldn't even get tickets to the event day of since we would have happily paid the small fee but it was a ticket only with the one walk up time being still an hour plus away from the time it was and it seem like not a true guarantee for tickets. The only reason for any stars for this experience is to combine it with the visit from the week prior to when we actually got to get into the park - the trails are nice and there are so many great area for photos!

The paths are soft and there are some nice water features like small ponds. It is an urban educational park affiliated with Milwaukee Rex Department and Milwaukee Public Schools so there are educational signs with facts about nature everywhere. For families, there is a playground, too. My husband and I attended a special Holiday Lights event the Sunday before Christmas. It was geared toward families but we had fun walking the path and enjoying the lights. Very fun and only $4 each! Hot chocolate and s'mores at the end helped warm us back up. This was a great inexpensive and quick holiday outing on a Sunday night.

The Amazing Milwaukee Race is a great way of meeting people and to learn about Milwaukee. It also brings more awareness to community activities, various restaurants, non profits and places you probably would never have visited otherwise and make a difference in the Milwaukee area (such as donating to the Historical Society to upkeep a memorial, building a prop for a local acting company, or spruce up a wall of a school by painting it). Per The Amazing Milwaukee Race's facebook: "Teams of two experience Milwaukee landmarks and businesses on an amazing urban adventure with clues: activities, puzzles, & checkpoints that challenge participants to get from start to finish. Inspired by the TV show's design, it is a one day "Amazing Race."" I strongly recommend you participate in it to not only learn about Milwaukee but just to have fun!

This park is one of my favorites to walk through as I head downtown. Giant shade trees overhead as I walk meandering trails around burial mounds, Civil War monuments, and more. Plus, my kiddo loves this Arthur themed playground The playground is separated into two areas, with the little kids side and the big kids side. Note, the big kids side is very tall with steep slides, so you definitely need to keep an eye on your child. There are two little kid swings, and two big kid swings, along with a teeter totter. Safety note, the teeter totter goes below the rubber playing surface. Make sure your kiddos feet do not get stuck under there! This has been brought to the attention of the library board, so it should be fixed soon. The bandshell hosts a multitude of free concerts throughout the summer, from the symphonic bands, to rock and country tribute bands and more. If you're in the area, definitely stop and check out this park.

Back when we first moved to Milwaukee, we were out and about exploring our neighborhood and the surrounding areas and stumbled across Honey Creek nestled in Wauwatosa. Such a find and a good way to spend part of the afternoon. We even used this spot for our Christmas cards pics that year.
