My Mother recently passed away, and my siblings and I all live out of town. We'd arranged to meet up for a weekend to do as much as possible, and then my sister and I would be on our own. Our moving truck needed to be loaded, and her house empty by Thursday morning. I called three moving companies for help packing and loading and I called KDs Junk Haul for whatever we needed disposed. KD is the only one that called me back. He showed up to give us a quote exactly as planned, and quickly saw my panic. He told me "Don't worry, I'm here for whatever you need. We will get this done." My overly protective brother loved him. Before the weekend was over, he was part of the team. He knew what to do when even I didn't. He had someone to refer for anything outside the scope of his business. He was so fast we couldn't hardly keep in front of him, he helped us do things like crawl in the attic so we wouldn't get dirty, and most importantly, he handled my Mother's things with respect, as if they weren't headed for the dump. On heavier work days he'd bring along a helper. These guys were extremely polite, but obviously new to the work force. Occasionally I would hear him talking about "work ethic" or "best work practices." Most of what earns KD my five gold stars are for conversations I wasn't meant to hear. By Wednesday night my truck was expertly loaded, and not one thing broke on the long drive to California. I always worried about my Mom being a single woman in a town without anyone she knew, and begged her to find a handyman or someone she could trust to help her. I wish she'd have found KD. I can't speak to his prices. I had no other company to compare him with, and to us, he was priceless. KD, if you ever read this, sneaking the yellow chair onto my truck was the smallest act, but the BIGGEST kindness, and yellow was my Mom's favorite color. Thank you! read more
