Warning!!! Shocking service! I took my elderly friend to see Mr Wallace a year ago and he said that her cataracts were not ready to be removed. He charged her for new lenses and said she should come back from 6 months to a year. She went back a year later (her eye sight had deteriorated very badly), he chose to ignore the very severe cataracts on both eyes and said that they were not ready to be removed. He sent both her reading glasses and long distance glasses away for replacement, so she had to survive without them for a whole week. She was a vulnerable 85 year old lady living alone and had fallen recently causing a fracture to her arm and other injuries. She survived with a magnifying glass and a torch, no thanks to him. He charged her for new lenses at the cost of £300! He didn't refer her for any surgery. The lenses were utterly useless, we returned them the same day and he spoke to us very rudely and refused to reexamine her eyes, saying he had no time. We returned later in the afternoon and insisted that her saw her. He re-examined her eyes and told her she would just have to persevere with her reading glasses and he would send off the long distance glasses again. He didn't care that an 85 year old living alone couldn't see a single thing! She was in total despair! We had no choice but to go for a second opinion and they recommended immediate removal of the cataracts. They said that the cataracts were so severe that they couldn't see inside the eyes never mind see out of the eyes. Had to pay £4000 to go private as we couldn't wait any longer and to add insult to injury, outrageously Mr Wallace decided to charge for the £300 lenses which were now completely unsuitable. He now knew that she had paid to go for surgery and that the glasses would not be necessary at all. I hope he can sleep at night! read more
