Please, don't get me wrong, I understand people may run off when the service is good and it protects the stylist, but what about the customer that works just as hard for their money to not to get the proper services done. She had to braid my hair and the braids were not small enough and puffy. When the wig was placed on my head, it sat on my head like a hat.(she said the wig was too big) She then proceeded to cut up my wig without placing it on my head first. She used this old glue to which looked like it was for arts and crafts and not hair. She put tons of it on me. She then asked me to hold down my sides, while she proceeded to sew my wig to my scalp! I asked her what she was doing and she says it gives her clients extra security. Well even before I left the wig was coming up! You could see the wig front line because she cut the net all the way to the scalp of the wig so you really couldn't blend it with makeup if you tried. I left her shop hurt, disappointed, disgusted and downright angry that I spent $150 BEFORE this catastrophic experience took place only to have to take it out tomorrow and get it re-done! Some people should just say I can't do those and let it be.  I sat in my car and damn near balled my eyes out for at least an hour. I am down here working and finally proved this is the reason I don't let people do my hair! I would not recommend her for lace front wig installs. My co-workers were all appalled and pissed off right along with me. Although, they had some choice words and said the  things they would have done, but unfortunately I am working and getting locked-up or losing my job is not my plans!  STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS WHEN IT COMES TO LACE FRONT INSTALLS!! THE OWNER EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME SHE IS THE BEST! Well, if she is the best...... please give me mediocre or the worst! I hope my real hair isn't too damaged. The respectable thing would be to return half of the money, because the pictures shown, if given the opportunity to show another styling professional would say this is not good. Like I said wonderful woman, horrible service, devastating first time hair experience. Pictures taken as soon as I returned from buying a drawstring ponytail for me to wear to work again.

This review is long overdue. Today I've decided to share my experience here at Locstar with…read morePaulette. I came here 5 years ago to start my locs. We started on the wrong foot, and ended on a despicable note. Paulette took a look at my 3c curly hair and insisted that it could not loc up with the coils I wanted. The other loctitian in the room objected to what she said, but Paulette shushed her. I felt this was wrong because armed with knowledge about safe washing, I felt my hair would remain in coils and lock up. I showed her a photo of my thick curly hair grown mid back. She proceeded to sell me on the idea that the only way my hair would lock was with her $400-$500 loc extensions that I stayed for 8 hours to put in. She wanted me to drive out for regular retwists for upkeep. At the end of this service she asked about my ethnicity. When I told her I was Jamaican and black she seemed shocked, and I wondered if her assumption that I was mixed perpetuated her incorrect assumption that my hair wouldn't lock. I lived about an hour away at this time, and could mostly only make it during rush hour, which meant I could not drive for regular retwists. This she knew ahead of time. It was also not not my desire to. I've cared for my own hair since age 8. At the time of this experience I was 24. I know my hair. I retwisted my hair myself between appointments. The extensions were quick to slip during the day even though I left them untouched except when twisting my roots. I came back a few times to fix the slipped locs. When I came back for a retwist, I asked her to keep retwisting my hair in the direction I previously had begun. You would've thought I said I hurt somebody. In the middle of a busy salon room, she stopped, and proceeded to literally loudly berate me in front of customers (she was .incredibly. rude) about doing my own hair. I was shocked at her behavior. The person next to me getting her hair done even looked at Paulette and said something about Paulette having to "teach me right." Excuse me? When I got home I proceeded to remove every extension she put into my hair. And I started over-- my way. Here are photos of the 5 year locs that couldn't establish without her $400-$500 extensions. 5 years in, they are almost touching my butt. I haven't lost a single one. If Paulette treats her customers anywhere near how she did in the past, I hope this review highlights a necessary area of where retraining is needed. You don't treat people like that, and you don't know the hair and head of somebody you met 3 times better than they do. They've had their hair their whole life.

Several weeks later, I scheduled an appointment for a takedown because I knew it would take me far too long to do it myself. I am very gentle with my hair. Unfortunately, my natural hair was cut while they were cutting out the human hair that had been placed. At one point, the end of a rat-tail comb was also used in a way that felt like it was ripping through my hair. I was uncomfortable with how rough the process felt, especially because I take a lot of care to be gentle with my hair. While I was happy with the initial style and appreciated the reasonable pricing and quick service, the takedown experience was disappointing. I wish more care had been taken with my natural hair, as that is something I expected when having a professional remove the style. I will add that the staff I interacted with are nice!
