I am so pleased with the great piano teacher match through Shining Light Music. When I called to…read moreinquire about teachers, I communicated that our requirements are stringent: my son is 6 yrs old, and while he likes piano, he doesn't looove piano, so the lessons have to be fun and engaging to encourage his progress. He's had 1.5 years piano instruction, and he doesn't respond well to some of the "too basic" piano book courses we had temporarily explored with a couple past teachers, so it's a challenge to level him up with material and technique that is age appropriate and fun enough but not too basic, nor too complex. And we had limited time availabilty as our schedules are maxed... It's such a blessing that the receptionist recommended Ms. Emily Shelp! Ms. Emily is well qualified; she possesses a Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Bob Jones University and has been playing since she was 7 yrs old. Her bio is coming soon to the Shining Light Music teacher page. Best of all, she strikes the right notes - I couldn't resist the pun! - in working on my son's technique and making it fun. She motivates him with weekly fun point-competitions (to earn country stickers in his passport, medals, trophy, etc.) which has resulted in him reminding me that he has to memorize a song for the next lesson..cuz he wants the points! (whoo hoo, he's no longer resistant to practicing!!!!) I feel that she is the right piano teacher for his current level and needs; she employs a cheerful and focused Kindergarten/First Grade encouraging teaching style to keep all the lessons fun and on track, she's able to motivate and consistently award with positive reinforcement, able to redirect him when he gets silly (after all he's been in school all day, then straight to his lesson!) and I appreciate how she is able to teach finer technique in a way that he understands. She would be great for both beginner and advanced students.

Nate helped me today and was amazing! I was buying a guitar for my son and he helped fill in my…read moreknowledge gaps and gave great food for thought in my decision process. He also tested the guitar for me and I was impressed by his playing too! Thank you Shining Light... you've got a good one there! The deal was incredible too!

Absolutely wonderful company and people. I just recently drove from TN to KC to work with ACB in a…read morequest for "The Horn". From the moment I walked through the door, I was treated like a VIP. Every single employee was kind and helpful. I spent a majority of the day with Roman. He was fantastic. He listened to my needs and wants and then proceeded to grab horns that might fit my needs. He was very effective in asking all the right questions to help me dial in the best horn for me. I honestly thought I would be walking away with the most expensive horn there. However, I found that the perfect horn for me was a Bell BT-11 horn. The setup was exactly what I wanted. I tried a bunch of other brands and even multiple Bell trumpets. However, the BT-11 was built for me. They took me to lunch at the diner next door which was fantastic. Trent was a genuinely great guy. I appreciate the fact that he took the time to talk with me about a variety of topics. Eric was so incredibly helpful, especially in getting my appointment scheduled. Chacka...excuse the spelling...was super nice and very helpful get things rolling the moment I arrived. I give my highest recommendation to ACB. I am a customer for life. I will be referring folks to them for years to come. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience!

**Disappointing Treatment of a Returning Customer**…read more Over the past two years, I purchased three instruments from Austin Custom Brass--a pocket trumpet, a Manchester professional trumpet, and a Brasspire Unicorn flugelhorn--as well as several mouthpieces, mutes, and accessories. My previous transactions had gone smoothly. Recently, I considered purchasing a CarolBrass C cornet for around $1,900. Since I couldn't try it in person, I asked specific questions about its condition, specifications, and pre-shipment inspection before committing to the purchase. Choosing a musical instrument remotely is not easy, especially when it's a significant investment. You have to rely on recordings, YouTube demonstrations, and the information provided by the seller. I wanted to be sure the instrument was right for me before making a final commitment. Rather than addressing my questions individually, I received a brief, general response that their instruments are checked and tested before shipping. Before I had confirmed the purchase, payment requests began arriving through multiple channels. I had not finalized or paid for the order. Shortly afterward, I had an opportunity to sell an older cornet, which could allow me to consider a higher-level B model instead. I explained the situation by email, politely asked for a little more time, and thanked them for their understanding. The response was: "We will cancel the order. This will conclude our business, your account is now closed at ACB, best of luck on future endeavors." After two years of purchasing instruments and accessories from this business, I found this response unnecessarily abrupt and disappointing. I had been transparent about my questions, budget, and uncertainty throughout the process. I wasn't asking them to honor a confirmed order; I was trying to make an informed decision before committing to a substantial purchase. As a professional musician and educator with 25 years of teaching experience, I understand that businesses have their own policies. Still, I believe a little flexibility, clear communication, and respect for a customer's decision-making process are basic parts of good business practice. This experience has changed my view of Austin Custom Brass. I won't be doing business with them again, and I cannot recommend them based on this experience.
