She said she could edit the hair out of my face but I guess she doesn't know basic Photoshop.

Kaylee Bird Works photography was the worst experience of my entire life and it was my PROPOSAL! My fiancé settled on Kaylee after many unfortunate circumstances and change of location with Covid-19. Kaylee reached out via Thumbtack claiming that she was a good fit for a surprise proposal. Her photos looked amateur, so my fiancé didn't respond until his other photographer stole the deposit and deleted his account. With 50mph winds on the beach, our location got moved into a suite at our hotel where Kaylee was to stay hidden to capture the moment. We had a video playing pictures from over the years with the proposal at the end and a GoPro hidden on the TV to capture my raw reactions. Kaylee was requested numerous times to stay hidden because my fiancé knew I wouldn't act genuine if I knew she was there. Kaylee flashed and clicked her camera 4-5 feet away from me for 15 minutes!! I was just sitting in the same position watching a TV so one photo could have been sufficient. The GoPro footage shows a constant flash and click from the camera and she proceeded to walk around behind me and was in the recorded footage. Kaylee "hired" an assistant to help her. His footage was just as terrible and showed Kaylee walking all around in it. Neither one of them were inconspicuous and they made me feel the most uncomfortable I have ever felt. During the actual proposal, Kaylee got my fiancé on one knee, but my hair was in my face and she didn't show the ring. At this point I already knew she was there so she should have moved around to get the right angle. You could tell she didn't have any experience and doesn't have the eye for photography. She asked us to go to a different beach the next morning and bring ideas for photos because she felt bad about the hurricane winds. The night of our proposal, Kaylee text my fiancé and asked for us to leave good reviews before we had any of the pictures back. We saw one sneak peek the next morning and were nervous we would waste time on more photos, but with wishful thinking we went. Afterall this is supposed to be the best moment of our lives and we wanted it to be captured to look back on. We decided to not look at the camera because we knew Kaylee's style was just to pose and look at the camera and she kept repeating "look at me, look over here." Luckily my fiancé flew my best friend in to celebrate with us and she snapped photos on her iPhone that turned out better than a hired photographer's. Every photo we showed Kaylee from Pinterest, she had an excuse why she couldn't do it. I feel like Kaylee just started photography and needed us to use in her portfolio. While she has 4 pictures of us smiling at the camera, none of them are in the moment or look like engagement photos. One picture my arm is blurred and another with my eyes closed!! I kept having to get my hair out of my face and she said she would edit the hair out of my face, but she didn't! It's not even about the pictures, but because she was in my face snapping photos during the most intimate moment of my life, I just stood there. My fiancé forgot what all he was going to say. She RUINED what was supposed to be the best day of my life. After two days spent taking photos and not enjoying vacation, we do not have one professional photo that shows me, my fiancé, and the ring. The ring was the whole reason she was hired, and she missed the one important picture. Every time I look at the photos she took I cry thinking of how bad that experience was. If you have an important event DO. NOT. USE. Kaylee Bird Works. You will regret it. My fiancé had to pay for Photoshop and learn to edit the pictures that he paid Kaylee to take. Here are some pictures for reference.

Our wedding venue was with Danger Charters and Vidal is the photographer they use in their wedding…read morepackages. We aren't Key West locals so planning a wedding from across the country was...stressful. Danger's coordinator put me in touch with Vidal a few weeks prior to the wedding date, and we immediately hit it off like old friends. The day of the wedding, we showed up late due to me having a last minute breakdown over not being able to tie a bow, (lol) and just having wedding day jitters. We find Vidal, and JESUS LUPITA NYONG'O CHRIST, I could not be more thankful this man was our photographer. His personality immediately calmed my nerves. He took control over directing my neurotic ass by explaining what to expect, where I needed to be...he even paid attention to when the boat might hit rough water and directed my husband to make sure I didn't fall over. Vidal took pictures of everyone prior to boarding quickly but clearly knew what he was doing. I appreciate so much that he was so focused and thorough, working with the time we had while maintaining a lighthearted vibe. So many people commented later how much they "loooved the photographer." Vidal definitely made a positive impression. We had a small reception for a couple hours after the ceremony at Grand Vin and booked Vidal for an additional hour. His prices were reasonable and honestly, you could charge so much more, Vidal! Your energy was so perfect, I'm so glad our paths crossed and the photos are AMAZING!! Next time we're down there I'm calling your ass for a night out! Oh, Vidal also does wedding planning, I have no doubt he's amazing at that as well. If he told me tomorrow he's a dentist now, I'd make an appointment!

I researched online, emailed several photographers, and finally chose Rachel for our photo shoot. She was very understanding of our restrictions. We wanted iconic Key West with various different backdrops in close proximity that were all paved and easy to walk on. My father-in-law has a hard time getting around and has to use a cane so we tailored the shoot to suit his needs. Rachel and I discussed several areas before settling on the perfect location near the Raw Bar. That's our favorite restaurant on the island. It is located near a cute tourist shop, a coffee shop with a gorgeous Key West mural, and the boat dock. This allowed plenty of backdrops within a very short walk, all very iconic Key West with bright colors and water views. After communicating via email we all met on the day of the shoot. Rachel was so nice, upbeat, and friendly. She had a fantastic report with the entire family and we quickly felt like friends. She was a quick photographer which was nice so we could give our father in law some breaks in between pictures. She posed and arranged us to make the photo look the best it possibly could. That can be difficult to manage with 5 adults! I was amazed that she was able to get around 100 shots in only half an hour. These were all gorgeous! About two weeks after the shoot we got a link to the photo gallery. There we selected the 50 shots we wanted her to edit. The editing process took about two more weeks. So quick! At this point we received a second link to a gallery where we could download all of the photos. This worked flawlessly for the entire family since we are spaced out in the U.S.! I loved that we needn't worry about mailing a cd or flash drive to everyone. That was so seamless and convenient. She's the first photographer I've worked with who has done that and I loved it. It is so nice to be able to send the pictures to my favorite photo site to get them printed out and enlarged to whatever size I wish. The site also allows you to show off the photos via a slideshow which was great to share with friends and other family members. Overall, Rachel was a big bang for our buck. She has a fantastic personality for this business and worked well with all 5 of us! That isn't always as easy as you might think. She was very detail oriented and critical which left our photos looking flawless. Rachel was always in constant communication with me which I really appreciated since I was planning this from 3,000 miles away! These are special memories we will preserve and treasure for the rest of our lives. I would definitely look Rachel up again if we wanted to do another shoot in Key West.

Lets face it, picking a…read morephotographer may be the most important aspect of a wedding - the memories recorded will be shared for a lifetime. Choosing Rachel was one of the best decisions we made. When deciding on a photographer, my husband and I both researched potential photographers in Key West, when we compared notes, we had both chosen Rachel! A true professional who was fun to work with and highly creative with her shots, she is an easy going spirit who put everyone at ease in front of her lens. Our friends and family all commented on how terrific she was to work with - directive and in control with our large group but also playful and fun so everyone enjoyed the experience. She handled family members, irate hotel managers, and irritating "photo bombers" with professional integrity. She helped turned a potential disaster - the golf cart breaking down as we raced to catch the sunset - in to a fun moment caught on camera that we now can all laugh about. Of course, the sunset pictures were amazing!! Rachel is a consummate professional. She is highly creative, and has an exceptional eye for composition and color. Our wedding photos are not filled with the typical mundane wedding photos, but rather many spontaneous moments of laughter and love.

She was always quick to respond to our email questions and reviewed all of the details with us over the phone a few weeks before the wedding. Booking a destination wedding sight unseen can be like taking a leap of faith, and soon after talking to Ivanka, we realized we couldn't have been in better hands. We were not expecting to be able to choose as many things about the ceremony as we did--we had an afternoon beach wedding followed by a 3 hour sunset sail reception (highly recommend adding the extra hour for the sunset sail) for 19 people including ourselves-- and we were able to select from choices for the decorations, flowers, music (we had a steel drummer who was also our DJ on the boat, DJ El Capitan,--he was fantastic!), vows, and cake. Ivanka provided us with information on how to obtain our marriage license, recommendations for transportation (we used Old Town Trolley Tours), hair, makeup, and wedding insurance along the way. Any questions we had, she had answers to. Ivanka served as both our wedding coordinator and photographer - we cannot say enough about how amazing she is. Our day went seamlessly, our family and friends had a fantastic time, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We received our beautiful pictures in only 2 weeks! The boat crew was also fantastic--they were so accommodating for all of our guests. Ivanka encouraged us to add on additional sandwiches to the food on the boat and we were so glad that we did--the appetizers would definitely be considered "light" appetizers, even for our smaller group, so the sandwiches were a must. If you opt for the sunset sail (highly recommended), just have reasonable expectations about the food - this is not going to be a sit-down dinner, but with appropriate expectations you will be pleased. After we returned from our sail, we went with our guests to the Waterfront Brewery for drinks and appetizers/food and this was a really great complement to what was available on the boat. Overall, our wedding was a perfect day for us. While we were able to have input into almost everything, I strongly encourage you to trust the process and to trust Ivanka. If you are looking to have an intimate ceremony without the stress and pressure of coordinating venues and vendors, then I couldn't recommend this enough!
