Myself and several members of my family have cats and we have been buying flea treatment from this store in Swadlincote since it opened. We also buy catfood and other products from that store. A member of staff refused to sell them to us as they apparently only allow people to buy a maximum of 4 fish at once. This is despite the fact that the Neon Tetra (a small, easy to keep fish) is a shoaling species that needs to be kept in groups of at least 6! Extremely poor customer service and further training of their staff is obviously needed.

To say this place has a comprehensive selection of products would be an understatement. The first half of the store is dominated by all things aquatic - plants, fish, food, aquarium tanks, outdoor ponds and large water tanks at the back, housing a wide variety of fish. As you move through the shop, there are hamster cages, pet food, bedding, books, magazines and of course animals to buy, like hamsters etc. It is such a large place, with such an impressive variety, if you can't get the item you need here, I would be surprised. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and on the whole the prices are competitive, apart from the niche products stocked in smaller quantities like hamster cages, that could double for 'Tracey Island' - they seem a little on the expensive side. The laws of supply and demand I suppose.

You can help yourself to vegetables, which are always being topped up. Puddings are not so great, but I never have room for them anyway. Afterwards, it really lovely just to wander round the plants and shrubs outside and get some fresh air while walking off your lunch. There is always a wide choice of pretty plants and shrubs to chose from and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. The prices however are quite high so it's worth shopping around if you're looking for something inparticular. I'd just go for the carvery! :0)

Whether you have a fish tank or fish pond you will always find something here that is different to anywhere else. The fish selection is good and there are real dedicated people to advise you/ educate you. This is also a great place at Christmas as has some really good Christmas gifts/ decorations that are completely unique to the garden centre. The garden funiture is also great... the £2,000.00 they want for one of my favourite statues is a little out of my price range right now though! The café here is good too so you can quite easily spend a good 3-4 hours at the garden centre.
