This is a fantastic place to go for anyone who is struggling - whether it be with depression, anxiety, addiction or any other mental health issue that you need help with. Kayenta has a large, eclectic group of therapists who are independent contractors. Kayenta's therapists serve families, individuals, couples, and families with children. Each set their own rates for therapy. If you have health insurance, you can check with your provider to see if they accept a particular therapist at Kayenta. If you don't have insurance, you can still contact Kayenta, who can help you find a therapist or a student Intern who can work with you on a plan for therapy at a reduced cost. Many of Kayenta's practitioners hold advanced degrees, and are licensed in a variety of specialties, including Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Ph.D.) Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC); Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN). There is even a fantastic Neurofeedback practitioner there by the name of Debbie Scofield, of whom I am not a client, but had the pleasure of attending one of her presentations on the use of neurofeedback to overcome phobias, anxiety and other issues.
In my personal experience, I have been a client since March of 2009 of Ms. Karie Lindsay, who has a Master's Degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (MCSW). I had been suffering from severe clinical depression, anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for many years, and several life events had rendered me nearly catatonically hopeless. I found Ms. Lindsay's name randomly off of my insurance provider's database, and after weeks of anxiety, finally picked up the phone and left her a message to contact me, as I was in tremendous need of mental help. I will never forget the day we first spoke on the phone, nor the day we met for our first session. That first session was the beginning of a journey that would change my life forever. I still visit Ms. Lindsay today and she is an incredible therapist. Ms. Lindsay also heads the Lifestyle Transformation Program, of which I have had the pleasure of attending. It is a program for people with compulsive eating issues. The format of the program begins with a 6 week long classroom style seminar, where clients learn about food addiction, its origins in one's life, and how various management tools learned in the program can help manage food addiction, compulsive and/or unhealthy eating habits and how the benefits of exercise and a change in your overall food selection can prolong your life. There are a series of workbooks that help clients explore the subject of food addiction, and these workbooks become a valuable resource for learning how you came to become a compulsive eater. The rest of the program - which in all runs about 18 months and can be repeated as many times as you like - is a group format, which involves getting together every week to discuss workbook assignments and support one another with regard to daily struggles and victories over compulsive eating.
Kayenta also has programs for people who need help with problem gambling and sexual addiction. No matter what you need help with, I encourage anyone who is in need of help with any kind of life issue to visit Kayenta's website and/or call them on the phone. There are two supervisors at Kayenta whom I have had the pleasure of meeting on a few occasions -- Richard and Roberta Vande Voort -- and they are incredible people whom I believe make Kayenta what it is - a welcoming, warm, and safe place to come for help. Kayenta is my choice for Top Mental Therapeutic Practice in Las Vegas. It is a jewel - and a beacon that I will always look to for help when I need it. read more
