Despite being in such serious condition and in obvious need of medical attention, the woman at the front desk refused to help him. I am appalled, shocked, and outraged that a healthcare facility would ever turn away someone in this condition. My husband was forced to drive over 20 minutes, while bleeding on himself and inside his vehicle, to receive the medical care he so desperately needed. At the next closest facility, he required multiple stitches. The lack of compassion and urgency demonstrated by Emerald Coast Urgent Care is absolutely unacceptable and a shame to our community. I expect this incident to be addressed, thoroughly investigated, and taken seriously.

Mind you it's hard to diagnose something if you don't actually examine it. A procedure, antibiotic shot and other meds prescribed by a different competent urgent care was what was needed. This visit was when we found out they no longer take my hmo insurance through Florida blue. Great. $150, but it's an emergency so I obliged. Very aggravating though :) We see the doctor, she's great. I say it's impetigo. She agrees, but didn't do any more thorough inspections of her own, so I assume that's definitely what he has. She prescribed him a topical ointment. We have been applying as needed every single day since, and it hasn't gotten better. It's not horribly worse, but not better. I call back August 7 (today) asking if there's any way we could be prescribed antibiotics because HE STARTS SCHOOL IN 4 DAYS. the nurse says "if you hold I will speak with a doctor and see what he says." *5 seconds later* "sorry ma'am you're going to have to come in for another check up" ma'am, it's only been 5 seconds, there's no way you talked to a doctor... she gets defensive saying she doesn't know where this conversation is going and that she doesn't have the energy to argue. I hang up. No resolution. Only money to be spent. Idk. Maybe this is just the American health system, and they don't do pro-bono or help those who really can't afford healthcare without insurance. I'm a single mother on one income and have spent $450 in the last week, including this last visit, on top of school supplies and clothes shopping for my son. Didn't think asking for an oral antibiotic required another $150 appointment just to be like "yes you're right, here's a prescription for amoxicillin" please do better. Not everyone can pull money out of their ass, especially when you stop taking their insurance a day before they show up for a walk in appointment.

waste of time and money!…read more I went in suspecting infection. it was a Saturday where they had 2 doctors, 3 support staff, and minimal patients (as in less than 3 when I arrived. I waited for two hours. Then the doc refused to do more than a urine culture and prescribed antibiotics that are a sister to penicillin which I'm allergic to. doc said if my reaction to penicillin wasn't bad, I should be able to take them. I explained I don't know what my reaction is like as the allergy was discovered in infancy. She disregarded that and prescribed it anyway. Immediately after the appt, I called asking for a safe antibiotic and to speak w a supervising doctor or office manager. I was told one of those would be calling me back. the offending doctor called me back and prescribed another antibiotic. I got off the phone and checked to make sure it was safe to take with my existing conditions. it's not. never heard from anyone in the office.
