Kaya,
We went in for a 30 mins facial and a 60 mins massage. We had an appointment at 2:30pm on 02/07/16 with confirmed bookings repeatedly for a facial and a regular massage. We arrived at Kaya at 2:27pm, but the store owner told us to fill the intake form, which I finished immediately but still it took some time. Then the owner asked me if I wanted a hot stone or oil for the massage (without explaining the pricing). I answered hot stone since that seemed to be the option she wanted me to take and thinking that was one of the options for the 60 mins massage we already booked for (Big mistake! Do Not Follow my footsteps! Owner does not explain pricing). By the time I was on the massage table, it was already 2:45pm. The owner should have told us to come earlier if we were to fill the intake form and not waste time babbling. And the masseuse should have begun the massage immediately if the clock was already ticking instead of idling on the front hall. The massage finished at 3:30pm right on time without additional time to make up for the lost time on Kaya's part. (I was asked to pay full hot stone massage price of $130-something minus groupon credit we already paid, instead of the $80- something we repeatedly booked for).
The massage experience? Terrible.
The hot stone was too hot and almost burned my skin one time. Also, I requested for a strong pressure massage, but it was one of the most light pressure massages I received. She did not even ask if the pressure was okay. Definitely, not what we ordered. The masseuse was idling in between and often too quick or too slow on her hands wasting expensive time away. She even carelessly scraped my balls twice with her nail (which I did not complain about at the time but held it in).
My friend who went for a first time facial seemed to have had a good time. But when it came time to pay, we were shocked and surprised by the exorbitant price($260 for the facial??)! My friend told me he was asked if he wanted a "LED microderm", which he said yes to in the facial room not knowing what that is, but again, without being told of the near 4 times price to the facial ($70) which we had a confirmed appointment for.
The store owner had a very disrespectful attitude, claiming we must pay for the service we received - even if the pricing was not properly disclosed (they were not told and he was also in the facial room not being able to see the sign on reception desk) and definitely, not agreed on. She raised her voice and kept yelling at us undoing all the massage and facial? microderm we received. She even threatened to call the police trying to force us to pay for something we did not agree upon. She kept claiming everything is on the intake form, but I recall my intake form did not state hot stone massage nor its pricing. Yes, I chose the hot stone option (because there seemed to be no other choice but oil), but her sneaky way of doing business is like a snake! What an horrible business practice! She kept yelling everything is recorded, and I responded by saying, "Yes, do check the recording. If it's like what you say (that the owner told us the different pricing), then we will pay." But of course, she did not dare check the recordings, and just kept on threatening us. On top of that, my friend's intake from did not only state LED microderm, but had rest of the options (IPL- something/microderm/ LED microderm) as well. She kept threatening us that she will call the police, but even if the police came, they cannot force us to pay, and it will only have been sent to court. We ended up paying because we didn't want any more unwanted stress, even though it was a very unfair business practice. Bad business.
What a rude Indian(?) owner she was! Like a snake underneath! I repeat: Do Not follow my footsteps! Don't go there unless you're rich loaded with cash and ready to pay for any price she mentions later.
