I have been coming to East Day Spa for a few years now, mainly to get my eyebrows threaded and/or tinted. I much prefer this to waxing and one of the staff members, Asha, always does an amazing job. Another reason why I love coming to East Day Spa is the ambience. I feel instantly relaxed the moment I walk through its doors. Soft, peaceful music is playing, the staff are welcoming and gracious and a hot cup of Storm & India tea is poured for me. With my Mum's birthday coming up, I decided to treat her and I to a 'Kady Vasty' massage - 45 minutes of total relaxation, specifically focusing on the neck, shoulders and back. While you wait, you are asked to fill in a form and also smell three oils (lime and ginger, sandalwood and jasmine) and pick one to be used in your massage. I went with the lime and ginger as it had a nice sweet smell and my Mum chose the jasmine as it was very soothing. We were then led into a dim lit room where again, soft music was playing. Having not had a massage before, it was slightly awkward at first, mainly getting used to lying face down and breathing in and out of a small hole! But, overall it was lovely and all the knots in my shoulders and lower back were attacked, making me feel very relaxed afterwards. I have been back to East Day Spa recently, this time to try their 'East Pedicure'. I have to say that it is the best pedicure I have ever had to date, in terms of the overall job, service and relaxing ambience. Plus unlimited Storm & India tea! And they also use Butter London nail polish which I love! As well as massages, pedicures and eyebrow treatments, they also do facials, foot and head massages, body scrubs, makeup application, manicures, food and beverage packages, treatments for men... the list is endless! You can also purchase gift vouchers, Storm & India tea, and the products they use. I booked a spa day at East Day Spa almost 4 weeks in advance. I knew I would be due for a pedicure, Brazilian wax, and massage on my last day in New Zealand after exploring the country for 2 weeks. There was a mixup with my appointment time for my wax appointment. They had confirmed 12:30pm via email, but when I arrived right before 12:30, I was told that my appointment was at 11:30am. Thankfully, they were able to squeeze me in and apologized for their mistake. The Brazilian wax was done reasonably well. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest level of pain, I would say my appointment was a 5. The nice lady who did my waxing was very sweet but she couldn't answer my questions about the type of wax they used, only that it was a product from Australia. The Balinese massage was amazing and definitely my favorite treatment out of the three. It reminded me of a combination of Swedish and Thai. The East Pedicure was nothing special and should not have cost NZ$70 in my opinion. Based on experience, it was a regular pedicure. However, I did like their pedicure setup. Instead of an electronic massage chair and a whirlpool foot spa (a.k.a. cesspool of germs), they use lounge chaises and simple basins that are placed at the foot of the chaise. Love this place; I make sure to come at least once a month or so. The atmosphere is calm and serene, the staff are friendly, and the rooms and equipment are clean and stylishly furnished. This is a bit picky, maybe, but I really prefer spas that are cleanly (well, sanitation is important!) and East Day Spa is spotless and I never have to worry. Their prices are also very reasonable, I've found. The ladies there are very kind and communicative, and they do a great job. You also get some nice hot tea while you wait. read more

Oh man!! I was so disappointed. Everything is average. The service was alright. Our booking was a mess. We booked at 1pm. They rang us and told us we were booked in for 1:30. Never mind, but when we arrived, the massage didn't get start till 1:50. The communication between staff members were poor. My massage was below average. She gave me different routine on each side. From time to time she accidentally kicked the bed. I was in shock a few times. My husband's one was good. The room was beautiful. We had a milk bath, the bottom of bathtub was filled with scum. Errr, don't remind me. For the price that we paid and what we got for returned, 2 stars are very generous. read more

For Christmas I received a voucher to come to East Spa and OH MY GOSH was it amazing! Everything about the entire experience was sensational! From the waiting rooms to choosing the luxurious oils used on you and entering into the warm and welcoming rooms; heaven. If you're after relaxation this is just the place for you! Located in the Skytower there is underground parking available for when you come here for your massage. I had a male massage me (I unfortunately cannot remember his name but I think he is the only male there), amazing! He did such a fantastic job releasing all my discomfort. After the initial consultation of the style of treatments I would like : the pressure of the massage , the best facial for my skin type and what my chosen package included . You are also allowed to choose your scented oil for your massage , I went for a jasmine scent but there was sandalwood or lemon grass as well . I really liked the waiting area with the Balinese style seating giving you some quiet privacy and given a choice of detox tea or lemon water . After being shown to my treatment room the therapist explained the order of treatments and started with the hot stone massage , everyone should get this !! It was Devine ! The facial I had was for sensitive skin and the scents from all the products she used were so relaxing . Finishing with a cocoa butter foot massage who knew that my legs needed some attention . Not me ! A really cool place with people who genuinely liked what they do . Things I didn't like were the a bit too loud world music piped in during the massage , and I used the restroom and while they were clean they needed checking as both stalls needed toilet paper . Glorious. Oh me, oh my is this place glorious. There's nothing like going to a Day Spa, and East Day Spa is one of my favourites. Mainly because it's so handing being in town. I would always pop out on my lunch break to get my eyebrows done. They're really fast so you can get lunch and get them done before you need to be back. I have also had an eye treatment here and it was dreamy as. I came back from holiday super jet lagged and had extremely puffy eyes. But this treatment did the trick and got me back on track in no time. There was the incident where the girl was rushed to hospital with burns (yikes) but I haven't had any problems with them. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping they have learnt from their mistakes which I'm sure they have. read more

I was given a gift voucher for this place and what a lovely experience it was. The spa is in the Sky city hotel and they seem to be pretty busy which is a good sign. I had the 90 min massage, and it was on point. First my masseuse was very good at adjusting the pressure and it was 90min spot on. Some places skimp you on time and include the time you undress and dress in it but this was 90min of massage. It is not a cheap place but I would most definitely go back. read more

The staff are the utmost professionals - super skilled, amazingly polite and always trying to accommodate to any need you may have. I always leave feeling relaxed and happy. I've never been to East Day Spa myself, but I did sent my partner here for her birthday a couple of years ago when I had to miss it due to work (yes, shame on me I know!). It was really easy to arrange the whole thing in secret - minimal fuss. Flicked a couple of emails, filled in their online booking, paid online and that was that! Well not really, it was bloody expensive, but convenient. All I had to do was take her along (it was a surprise) and leave her in the capable hands of the masseuse for an hour-long massage and a mani and a pedi (I do spoil her a bit!). I was super excited when I was given a gift voucher to go to East: I'd heard workmates talk about how lovely it was: luxurious, and relaxing, and pretty much the definition of pampering. I decided to get a pedicure, as summer is tough on the old feet, what with all that barefoot hanging about on the beach. Unfortunately that meant that after the friendly welcome and cup of tea in the very nice waiting room, I got led away from the elegant looking treatment rooms and into the communal nail area, alongside six or seven other people. Oh well, I thought, at least I'll come out with smooth feet. Unfortunately it was not to be: my therapist was perhaps in a hurry, as she rushed through the pedicure; to be honest I would have done better getting rid of rough skin at home with a pumice. She also had long nails herself, which looked lovely but she actually cut me with them twice, yes, breaking the skin, whilst working on me. It wasn't quite the relaxing treat I had been looking forward to. read more
