I was dealing with several new medical diagnoses at the time--which is never ideal when transitioning to a new doctor--but Dr. Beal has been absolutely incredible. This is my first experience with a provider outside of Kaiser, and I can honestly say I've never felt so heard or understood by a doctor. I used to think the doctors on TV who really get to know their patients were fictional--but not with Dr. Beal! She takes her time, never rushes appointments, and genuinely listens. She encourages questions and never makes me feel silly for asking anything, no matter how basic it might seem. Dr. Beal is working with me to build a care plan that actually fits me--not a one-size-fits-all solution. I'm honestly so thankful that I had to leave Kaiser, because it led me to her. Highly recommend!

She is the first one who I feel really listens to me and trusts my knowledge of my own body. She asks extremely helpful questions, and explains exactly what she is thinking and why. She is friendly, kind, approachable, observant, and very intelligent. She also seems interested in complimentary approaches and not necessarily just shoving pills down your throat, though she's perfectly willing to prescribe medicine if necessary. I went in last night and she spent 30-45 minutes talking with me and examining me. No kidding. In most offices you're lucky to get 5 minutes with the actual doctor! My husband and I have both been extremely impressed with her level of service and commitment to her patients. We have found our family doctor, for as long as she stays in practice! Also, for those worried about the distance to Point Richmond, we're in Oakland, and it only takes 15 minutes to get there. Very convenient!

An epic doctor? You don't see that everyday!…read more Dr. Karen Peters exemplifies the very best of what a healer can be. When I first met her years ago, I had just survived being a medical experiment in Guatemala (now there's a story!) and was fully fed up with western medicine and its egotistical butchers, and had little faith or patience with its practitioners. On a whim I tried the naturopathic approach and she turned me around 180 degrees with the anti-inflammation dietary approach. Naturopaths know far more about healing systems and dietary effects than traditional doctors. They have "evolved" beyond western medicine. They are also not shy about using other modalities, they go for what really works. Dr. Karen as a practitioner is gentle and wise, patient and incredibly attentive and clear. Kindness just flows from her. She is the first doctor I have ever looked forward to going to see, by far. She has that special je ne sais quoi... She is super smart and knows Spanish and handled my Spanish medical records no problem btw! She just all around rocks. Can you say that about your doctor? Let Dr. Karen Peters help you. I had called in originally to…read moresee if they were able to fit me in for a last min appointment, and thankfully they had a physician's assistant who was able to see me the next day. I had changed insurance due to a recent job change, so I was a bit apprehensive going to a different health care professional from my former primary care physician. But thankfully the process was pretty smooth. After having completed the extensive line of questioning posed to me during the initial phone appointment, they gave me a few pages to read and sign when I first arrived and I was good to go in fairly short order. They have a security guard in the front who asks you the standard COVID questions and has you use hand sanitizer, but I was a bit surprised there were not acrylic barriers protecting the receptionists and nurses behind the desk from incoming patients. Everyone I encountered during my visit was very friendly, and the PA took his time to listen to my concerns and addressed them accordingly. Parking is readily available for free in the lot outside. And overall the area felt pretty safe, clean, and spacious.

I had a new patient appointment with Dr. Wallace at this clinic. San Pablo Rd (the main road…read moreleading to this clinic) was closed in one direction for over 10 min. so I was stuck. I called the Sutter number listed for this location from my car to let them know what was happening and they told me they'll let the office know and no problem. Sutter has a 15-min late policy which allows them to cancel your appointment if you're late. I walked in 14 minutes into my appointment time. After checking in and waiting to see the doctor, I was told that Dr.Wallace decided to cancel my appointment. I was shocked! I asked to speak to Dr. Wallace, but I was told she needed to leave early that day and was filling out paperwork. I waited to speak to the clinic manager and complained that my appointment should not be cancelled because a doctor wants to leave early on a Friday afternoon and that I was not technically late. She explained that I was late, because the checking in process took about 2-3 minutes. I had a time sensitive medical reason why I needed to see a PCP and waited weeks for that appointment. I was crying uncontrollably in the lobby and requested again to just speak to the doctor briefly, but she refused and did not care. It is a terrible feeling to deal with a medical problem and feel that no one is willing to help you. I cannot imagine that a doctor who treats any of her patients in this careless way can be an effective or empathetic caretaker. Obviously this clinic is pretty bad also from all the 1-star reviews.

I went in for a standard physical and ended up being charged $247 for a (20-30 minute) doctor's office visit in addition to the $435 for my preventative health visit.
