Stopping here was like stepping back in time, great departure from the big box grocery stores! Great variety of meats, cheeses, baked goods, pantry items, candies, etc...The owner and his son added to the whole experience...Shared the very cool history of the store and were very helpful with advice on how to handle some of the various products we bought. This is a fun little store. It reminds me of the neighborhood stores that were around when I was a kid. Really takes me back to those good times, which is why I like going there. The owners are very nice people. They let you shop in peace so you need to approach them if you need something or have questions. I mainly go there for meat items but always seem to have some candies make there way into my purchase . read more

Small grocery store with a lot of different European (think Polish, German, etc.) food offerings. I've never bought anything here but pickles, but those pickles were very good. I don't have much experience with the types of food they sell here, so I was scared to buy anything else. They have various meats, cheeses, and other items in coolers. I visit Katy's when I am visiting town and it has changed over the years. Last few visits, I can't find anything that I would use or want in the way of German Imports. People are friendly enough but the hours are crazy. read more

Katy's is run by the second and third generation of family from Germany. And Katy is still around, in her 90's, in the attached house. The market isn't dirty, it's old! You might have to ask for help, but then they will give you lots of advice about what to buy. One reason they're closed part of the week is that they're in chicago buying bread and other imports to stock the store. If your'e looking for sausage, they make wonderful ones! Potato sausage, weisswurst, brats, etc. They stock other hard to find items like Irnbru, teas, and kippers from Scotland. There's a whole section familiar to Belgians. Yes, it's old and worn and pricey, but cheaper than a ticket to Europe. If you hang around, you'd hear a little German spoken and meet people from all over the globe. read more

Their potato sausage is the best around. Seriously. Parking is tight.

Excellent place to find imported foods (mainly Swedish or German, but others as well). Prices are commensurate, but then you probably won't find them elsewhere. read more

Katy's has a great selection of foods from all over Europe in a quaint store in Moline which despite a small lot gets quite the traffic for good reasons, I enjoy the selection of Meats that are of Stiglmeier's, Usingers Sausages, and Bread from the Polish neighborhood of Chicago, as said before they are only open Thurs to Sun. read more

I love this place! I've lived near there all my life and there's a lot of authentic European foods at good prices, although they don't have everything there's really no other place in the area that carries most of these things. The only downside is the parking, but usually there aren't too many people in there anyway. read more

What a fabulous little store! After living in Germany off and on for 8-9 years, I felt a rush of nostalgia looking at all the products. The owner is helpful, talkative and knowledgeable. Was able to get Glogg and a Gluhwein spice mixture for New Year's Eve. After I go home and check my old German recipe books I'll be back for meats and sauces! read more

The stores alright. A little pricey though, I was surprised that they never carry any strudel there, since they are suppose to be a german store & apple strudel is a popular german danish! Go figure. Anyway, when I was in there nobody really helped me out or asked me if I needed any help finding what I needed. I doubt if I'll ever go back there again. Also, store looks really old & a little dirty & they're closed half the time. Maybe all that time they take off they could give the store a new makeover & perhaps clean it up a bit. I NEVER write reviews but felt to write this review about Katy's. I have driven by Katy's for years and have always wanted to stop in to see what they had. My teenage granddaughter and I were out shopping and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show her a bit of nostalgic. When we walked in there was no one else in the store. There was a gentleman on the phone...he just looked at us and kept on talking on the phone. I thought this was a bit un-business like but we just kept walking and looking around. We looked around for about 5 or so min. when a lady walked in...the gentleman(who was still on the phone) stopped talking to ask her if he could help her. She said no she was just looking around. He continued talking on the phone!! I saw many things I was interested in and decided on one particular thing. I waited to ask about the item because the gentleman was on the phone still! Another customer entered the store...the man on the phone asked if he needed help..the customer said no, he was looking around. This did it for me!! I told my granddaughter we were leaving. She asked why we were not waited on when we came in but 2 other customers were asked if they needed help. I told her I didn't know. The fact that the store was old, had an unusual smell,and a bit over-priced did not bother me....the fact that we were not even acknowledged DID bother me. I will never go back! read more
