They did a very sloppy job with my nails too. I am no professional but anyone with eyes can see that these nails are shaped very unevenly. At a certain point I didn't even dare complain because there was no saving them. They also did a very lousy job with the gel application. Horrible, went in with really long nails and left with really short nails, she did not measured correctly when cutting my nails to preferred length not to mention she cut the nails on my left hand significantly shorter than the right and then offered to put on tips. Not even acknowledging what she had done when I told her she had cut them way too short and the left hand was significantly shorter. Everywhere I've gone to do my nails they measure and ask you if that's the desire length before cutting. This is my second time here, first time they cute me really bad with the acrylic machine and she didn't even clean it. Also they're obnoxiously trying to sell you every other service they do here! Just moved near Kathy's Nails's and decided to give them a try since it was time for a pedicure . Loved the place the the atmosphere, the decor and staff. The Manager (wish I remembered her name) she was amazing I hope to be able to get an appointment with her next time. The Nail Tech. I had seemed to be new and a little unsure.... This is my personal opinion..... she had wonder personality..... she just left every toe having a cut from the way she was cutting my cuticle. One of my toes was bleeding more than the others, and instead of applying the drops that most nail technicians apply when they cut you she just simply try to dab it off with the towel. Again, I understand that being a nail technician and developing the technique to work with people that have highly sensitive skin is something that comes with practice. If i could give this place 0 stars i would. I decided to give this salon a shot since ive been living in cutler bay for a year now and havent found a good spot to do my nails. I tried calling various times to numbers I was given on instagram that didnt work. Then I went ahead and finally got through hours later the receptionist or worker was very nice and made my appt. Since I value peoples time I called and rescheduled for an hour later. I found out about this place through instagram not knowing they have two locations down the street from each other and nobody asked me which one I wanted to go to. So I proceeded to the one I thought my appt was at needless to say as soon as I walked through the door it was a mess... no front desk, two nail techs both hungry and tired. They didnt have help and I decided to wait for one of them to finish even though they claimed my appt wasnt for this salon... I waited over 20 minutes to then take an hour and a half to get my pedicure... my feet are regularly pedicured so they werent in bad shape... you would think the pedicure was amazing and it was great until it came time to paint my nails... I wasnt impressed... I was hungry which is my fault for being so busy and forgetting to eat and started feeling lightheaded so I paid and left two unhappy customers before me left with unwanted manicures because the nail tech couldnt see correctly and forgot her glasses. I have to say this is one of the cutest nail salons I've been to. I liked the feeling here. Even the clients were very nice. I was a walk-in and waited around 10 minutes. It was a friendly, family-oriented environment. Seeing as this is so close to my house and job I will definitely be coming again. I only gave it four stars because my nails didn't come out perfect (see close up). They could have been filed better because two were uneven and the extra nail could be seen. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST. If I could rate them 0 stars I would! I found this salon on Groupon. I was told not to purchase the Groupon that they would honor the price in the salon which was a lie. I took my daughter to get our nails done for her birthday vacation. They not only charged me more but the GEL manicure that normally last 2 weeks chipped after 3 days and then peels completely off after 5 days! I couldn't believe it! I called the owner and she tells me that's it's impossible but that she was going out of town to call her back that she would resolve it. I called her after a few days and told her the only thing I wanted at this point is my money back I took several pictures of the nails with the time stamp to show her but she insisted that it was impossible, I explained that even our pedicures were done poorly (I have posted pictures) to make things worse my daughter got her brows wax and till now has the biggest break out. The owner told me I could write whatever I wanted online but she would not refund me. So here we are, this lady even had the nerve to ask me where I am from (mind you, no one speaks English there) when I asked her about the products she uses (because gel nails are not supposed to peel after 5 days) it's so despicable. Going to make this as short as possible. I bought a Groupon, made my appointment and went in, fine. The main tech didn't speak ONE word of English. A young woman translated, redeemed my Groupon and took me to the pedicure chair. I asked for the water on the hot side and she literally made it BOILING - there was smoke coming off the water. I myself switched the knob to cold to even out the temperature. I don't know how she would think hot means boiling till your skin comes off. The other tech told her "not so hot" on Spanish and she responded "well she said hot so that's not my fault". I guess she didn't know I spoke Spanish at the time. She did the pedicure and gave no foot massage or rub. Only focused on the nails, fine. The ENTIRE time she's having the get up to help translate Spanish to English with the other tech. Next is nails. The desk/stations are so narrow they must be about a foot wide so you need to sit about 1 foot away from the station, or your knees will end up on the techs stomach. My nails had been soaking since my current polish was gel. When she took the foil off, my nails were literally folded vertically in half - the sides were curled inward (never ever happened to me before). She starts filing off the gel and the nails return to normal, fine. She leaves the previous nail color in the corners, files them incorrectly, butchers my cuticles, and proceeds to paint my nails on top of a previously used rag that looked like my dog chewed it up. Before she starts to paint, I ask her for the file and fix the nails myself (shaping and removing the excess nail "fuzz" on the tips (if you leave this, the gel will come off). I also clean up the bottom of my own nails as they had some lint under them. She then starts to paint and realizes the gel polish is old, she SAYS the polish is old but KEEPS GOING. She paints up to my cuticles which is a huge no with gel, and gets paint all over my skin. Of course, the color doesn't cure and settles on the sides. When I bring this up to her, she says it's my fault for moving my hands inside the light (LOL). The other tech hears what's going on and offers to paint my nails. I literally got up and walked away with one hand half painted and the other bare. They are so lost. The young woman that did my nails should not be allowed to touch anyone's hands or feet. Arguing with me when she h doesn't know how to paint, prep or even file a nail. Or bother to clean underneath a nail. It's sad. I went to another nail salon on my way home and within 25 minutes they removed the purple gel, prepped my nail correctly and put a decent quality polish that didn't bleed into the sides of my skin. They were shocked to see how poorly a licensed nail salon preformed. I have maybe a total of 4 reviews on Yelp and I sat down to take the time to write this so someone else doesn't make the same mistake and AVOIDS this place. My nail lady was nice but did a sloppy job. My cuticles are so butchered that my toe nail is infected. The paint on my nails are all uneven. Let me warn you that they charge EXTRA for nail gel removal which I've never been charged for at any nail salon. They are very expensive for terrible work. Got a Groupon for a gel mani and pedi, it was terrible. DO NOT go to this place, they're extremely unhygienic, they did not use a liner on the bowl where my feet were during my pedicure. I have NEVER seen a nail place not use a liner. The manicure tools are packaged but are old and rusty and put in a sanitation area quickly then used various times. My gel manicure came out thick and my nails were not cut evenly and were not shaped the same. The girl who did my mani also did not speak English, I mean cmon, what if I wanted a design? Overall, save your money and get a Groupon for a better place, they don't value sanitation here and the manicure are mediocre. I first tried the salon for a polish change back in September because I had a last minute event. I couldn't use my groupon because they require an appointment for Groupons. Once you are a customer you aren't allowed to use the groupon. Therefore I had to contact groupon for a refund. This wasn't an issue because they have specials Monday through Wednesday. The receptionist was nice and the service was okay. My second visit a few days before Christmas is a different story. Once again "no Groupons" due to the holiday. Kathy herself did my nails. It seems as if she was a new student at beauty school because I left with my finger bleeding from a botched gel manicure. Do NOT recommend. I first heard about this place through an ad in Groupon. I called and was amazed that I was given an appointment for 30 minutes later. I showed up on time. When it came down to pay, I showed the ad from Groupon and was advised that I was unable to use it. When I requested a reasoning I was advised that it is only valid for first time clients which I clearly was as evidenced by the fact that I had to be guided to the area where I was to wash hands and the color wall to choose a color. I proceeded to explain that it in fact was my first time at which point the nail tech advised that I can not use the Groupon and would need to cancel or get my money back and go to another salon. When I requested to speak with the manager, she was rude and argumentative providing no real reasoning. For instance she said she had put my appointment for regular price in the system and can not change it now because the system won't allow it. I asked if as a manager she could just put it in the system like I cancelled the appointment or never showed and complete a new ticket which she adamantly denied without explanation. When I asked what other location I could use the Groupon as the nail tech had advised she said that there are other nail places around the area which I had taken to mean that they had other locations where the Groupon would be valid. This was not the case as this turns out to be their only location so in other words she was instead directing me to go elsewhere. In order to de-escalate the unprofessional environment the manager was creating in front of the other two clients, I elected to pay full price. Despite it all, the only explanation I received ultimately is that I needed to have told the lady that was doing my nails that it was for a Groupon because she would have done less work and used inferior products as they only use the Groupon to bring in customers but their prices are set and they had already done a regular full price service on me where had they known they would have used the inferior products and taken less time. The manager then went on to say that the nail tech only makes $9 from a Groupon order and she won't pay her the difference. Needless to say I paid full price, but I would not recommend this place as this is a bait and switch location that pays their workers poorly. ***They also charge a $3 fee to run credit card. read more

Originally went to go to nail salon next door but didn't make an appointment. So I gave them a shot. From the moment I sat down the 3 worker were talking in Spanish. I didn't say anything, but the tech glued my nails on wrong. I no longer wanted the service but offered to still pay something. She then told me 10/15 (had no problem paying that) until the other worker said something in Spanish then told me 25$. When I refuse to pay that she called the police after yelling at me. The shop owner came and was nice at first and was ok with us paying the 15$. Then she tried to pull my trunk down on my truck to get my tag plate and told the police I did not pay. STAY AWAY from this place! I've never written a review, but this has to be shared. I've never been treated so horribly! Got a Groupon, told the receptionist as soon as I got there that I had a Groupon, but I guess that wasn't relayed to the actual pedicurist bc she was very upset that she didn't know and said if she had known she wouldn't have given me a pedicure, and would instead do a polish change, since that is what a basic pedicure was. This was after she had cut me three times and not apologized for it. She then got upset that I questioned her definition of a pedicure. This place was close to my home so I purchased a Groupon special that was available for $20. I called on Tuesday to make an appointment for Friday morning when I arrived on Friday my appointment wasn't on the books and an employee advised that the appointment person had resigned earlier in the week and didn't transfer the appointments make on her personal cell phone to the actual appointment book. I was a bit upset until they said that they didn't have cliental until later on in the day. Thankfully I arrived when they opened at 10am. I liked how all their nail polish was organized on the wall as well as the chair massage when doing pedicures. It was very relaxing. The only thing I didn't like was that on the other side of the salon where the pedicure is done it was a bit warm. The A/C unit isn't central and is a box unit located where the manicure section is. There are fans on the ceiling but with the hot summer days coming up I would recommend for them to add another A/C unit. Parking is a bit tight at the shopping center but staff is very nice (all Hispanic ladies) who chat a lot and sing and laugh. I liked the environment.
