What I especially liked…read moreis that she explained the difference between mediation vs each of us having our own attorney. Where my ex-wife and myself saw the advantages of a mediation. But she was also very explicit about retaining our own attorneys for any advice during the mediation process. My wife (ex) and I both felt comfortable that she was a neutral party at all times. Her hourly rate was slightly less than the average, which made it all the better. And her "pay-as-you-go" system made it affordable. We could've used a mediation company that did not have a legal background or education. But we decided to go with Laurie since she is an attorney, and has extensive experience in divorce law. Thank you Laurie.

Deborah and Emily are exceptional. I was in Family court fighting for custodial rights for 5…read moreyears, and it took getting these two on my side to finally win. I had gone through 4 different lawyers before them. Each time I thoroughly checked reviews and interviewed them, only to have their true identities show up later. Lawyer 1 (AVVO 9+) didn't listen, Lawyer 2 (AVVO 9+) didn't prepare until the weekend before and yelled at me for asking questions (and lost), Lawyer 3 got results but cost truly insane amounts (my entire inheritance in 9 months), Lawyer 3.5 (separate DCFS case) was ok, but still cost too much, Lawyer 4 (AVVO 9+) listened well at first, but never again, and then finally Deborah was recommended to me by a lawyer that worked next to my office (not family law). NONE of my prior frustrations appeared again. I worked primarily with Emily, but I feel I got the perfect dose of Deborah's oversight. Important aspects were run by her, I had access to her, but my bills were not overly peppered with her time. Emily was a great listener, and even better, she was great at explaining her rationale so that I didn't have as many questions. She never hid from me, the documents she authored were good, and she drafted them quickly. She welcomed my input, and even used some of it. I never felt the need or justification for questioning their bills, and I appreciated the occasional unsolicited write-off of a call or effort here or there. I truly felt that they CARED, from start to finish, and I finally was able to conclude a chapter of my life I never want to revisit, with all of my "must have" custodial rights. I highly recommend!!
