I'll do the same--but to uplift the excellent work of this small business, which has been here longer than I've been alive. I brought in a pair of Tom Ford-era Gucci boots in good condition and a pair of custom Golden Goose high-top sneakers in need of a full resoling. The Gucci boots, which I found on The RealReal and date back to the late nineties to early two-thousands, needed a rubber sole added to preserve their integrity for as long as possible. The rubber was perfectly cut and blended seamlessly with the leather of the original sole. As for the Golden Goose sneakers, I was nervous. I've heard horror stories from customers who went with third-party repair services instead of the brand's in-store $250 repair option. I took the risk of trusting this shop--because my family has been using it for years--and it paid off. The repair was excellent, every bit as good as what Golden Goose's own service should deliver. In conclusion, to the woman who complained about her two thousand dollar shoes: my two better, cooler, and more fashionable pairs look fantastic. The office is in an easy to get to location with plenty of parking. On arriving we were given some papers to fill out and after a short wait I was called in to a large procedure room. The receptionist offered me a cup of coffee and asked if I'd like my husband to wait with me. I was happy to have the company. Soon after my orthodist, Eugene, came in and introduced himself. He asked me a number of questions and did a brief exam of my food and brace before doing the casting. He was very nice and easily answered my questions. All of the staff were pleasant and efficient and the facility was large, clean and well equipped. Every time I visit (initial, follow-up with general treatment, and follow-up with specific treatment) I always get to see and talk to Dr. Schwartz. Appointments don't take too long, however, I'm never rushed, can ask as many questions as I need, and she explains everything is detail. She's extremely thorough and kind (which is a nice touch when you're experiencing pain or discomfort). When I called the office for my MRI results I received a call back from Dr. Schwartz within 5 minutes. I should also note how WONDERFUL the rest of the office is, from the front desk to the nurses. I've only visited the Wisconsin Ave office which is in a large office building with other practices. Parking is $5 for the first hour and I've never needed more than 1 hour.

I started to ask for alternate help when she just hung up...like hung up on me. I called back, got the initial surly individual who couldn't xfer me to the very siloed "new patient" line, and asked for the practice manager. She put me on hold for 5 min., came back and said they weren't there, so I asked for their email, and after another 5 min. on hold, I was told they "aren't allowed to give out practice manager's business email." That's 20 min. I'm never getting back and the worst medical office administration I have experienced in the DMV. Go somewhere else, the front of the house patient care says a lot.

His imaging diagnosis convinced me of the importance to move forward with hip replacement surgery. Summit Orthopedics works closely with Sibley Hospital so I was able to schedule a Monday morning surgery and overnight stay at the hospital. The Nurse Navigator Supervisor at Sibley provided information on Pre-Op procedures and an appointment with Sarah, Summit's Nurse Practitioner, involved a review of the surgical procedures and the list of medications with a review of frequency. Dr. Siram brought together a great surgical team comprised of the Sibley Hospital Orthopedic doctors and nursing staff and an anaesthesiologist. The first nurse assigned to my post-Op care placed top priority on Pain Control and coordinated a meeting with In-House PT/OT Team to review and practice the Post-Operative exercises. I completed 2 weeks of In-Home physical therapy with Potomac Home Health Care, affiliated with Johns Hopkins and Sibley. The PT specialist was exceptional: checked vitals; reviewed my medications; provided a home exercise plan that helped me to begin walking with and without a cane, before starting In Office Post-Op PT. I initially saw him for orthotics. Dr Firestone was tireless in making sure that the orthotics were exactly right and called the manufacturer numerous times to have them modified until they were right for my foot. I also saw him for a painful toe. His treatment quickly and gently resolved the problem. Most recently a neuroma was causing pain and hindering my ability to take the long walks that I love. After carefully examining my foot and my orthotic Dr Firestone felt that a modification to my orthotic would help resolve the problem. Dr Firestone personally sent a picture to the orthotic manufacturer detailing exactly what he wanted done. He will contact me when they are ready. I know from my previous experience with him that he will not be satisfied until " he makes it right for me." The physical therapy I have been receiving is sound care, but the customer service needs…read moreimprovement. The physical therapists always act very kind on the phone when I had to reschedule 3-4 appointments since I am unable to drive a car due to my injuries and needed to find a ride to the location. Then when I arrived for an appointment one day, the physical therapist wasted 15 minutes of my 50 minute appointment blindsiding me with a demand: I adhere to a new cancellation policy of 1 week or more (versus the standard 48 hours). I refused, and eventually my appointment was able to begin. Despite losing a quarter of my session, I was not given extra time at the end, of course. The Schedule must be held sacrosanct! Later that day, I was called by Dr. Cohen to set up a new way of scheduling appointments on Mondays the week of. This was a fair workaround, but I was treated quite unfairly during that interaction; if I hadn't made a stink, I could tell they would have bullied me into unfair terms of service. I think the customer service (particularly Dr. Cody's) could be improved.

Two of the PT practices were medical factories, processing dozens of people at a time with one-size-fits-all exercises, regardless of the underlying problem. The third PT practice seemed better because it was small, but the "doctor" I saw was a charlatan with and a crook. I was ready to give up on physical therapy, but was persuaded, by my orthopedist and friends, to try again. This time I was recommended to Nova Care, a national firm with an office in friendship heights, and what a difference! This company has the highest ethical and medical standards, with an extremely professional and skilled staff. There are generally two therapists on duty at a time, seeing no more than three or four patients, so that the patient receives close attention at all times. Exercises are focused on the problems presented, and easily changed to reflect the patient's level of tolerance and needs. I can't believe how much better this company is than others in the field. Barri Schnall, my current therapist, is amazing, both in her focus on current problems (spinal stenosis, affecting both shoulder and hip) and interest in other problems that turn out to be related.
