Strong selection of Børn, Dansko, Clarks, Merrell, Naot, Simple, Birkenstock, and others--it's a good stock of quality and comfort footwear, and among the sturdy and simple, there are always several eye-catching & more stylish pieces too. Winter boots, knee-high leather boots, sneakers, sandals, work shoes, perilously high yet bizarrely comfortable heels--I've bought them all here. I've also snapped up plenty of their Smartwool, a winter essential worth every penny. It's not cheap, but neither are the goods--they look great and they last for years. Oh, and the staff here are wonderful. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, never pushy. Hands down one of the best shops in Park Rapids.

However, we were surprised by the transportation expense. Apparently, it's much cheaper to go with a larger group as they charge per van ride. Also, they only accept cash or check, so if you don't have that handy, you'll have to make a trip to the only ATM in Nimrod.

Also, wear a swim suit and take advantage of the opportunity to stop and wade in the water a bit... The river is very shallow. We did bring two of our own kayaks (and rented a third). Unfortunately, one of the kayaks fell off the trailer on the way to the drop site, sustaining some damage (though was still usable on the river). However, the owners actually bought the kayak from us at a fair price, allowing us to easily replace it. No hassle at all. We're looking forward to a return trip in September.

Tried to get a MN family fishing license online and via Walmart in Park Rapids. Weren't able to…read more Supposedly because my husband's address from 15 years ago didn't match his address today. Was told to call MN DNR and did, and was booted off their phone line. Went to Northern Bait and they offered to try for us. The license went through in way less time than Walmart's failed attempts. Thanks to Northern Bait, my husband and I were able to participate in and enjoy our family vacay.

I never raised my voice or was disrespectful even when he started yelling at me. This place is terrible when it comes to customer service, I returned today to get the owners info to file a BBB complaint against them and I was told that it is his business and he can talk to to anyone anyway that he likes. Avoid this place at all costs show this business that it is not ok to treat veterans and human beings in general like pieces of garbage.
