Kathmandu Curry Restaurant is located in the center of Ibiza town town just after you pass the old bus station entrance and then the first road on the right, it is not a restaurant that is aimed at the tourists, far from it asit is open all year and serves a growing number of Spanish clientele who are quickly giving it a reputation as the one to beat, unless you know where this restaurant is, you won't find it!
Opened a year ago (by one of the brothers who also own Kathmandu restaurant in St Eularia) it is run independently and has surpassed its older rival both in the quality of food served and the value for money that is given.
My wife and I were told about this restaurant by a Spanish friend who insisted we tried it, eventually after much searching we found it.. and it was worth the hunt!. Decor wise it won't win any awards but it is freshly painted, clean, tidy and relaxing leaving its main task of serving great Indian & Nepalese curries as how it attracts the clients.
Cost wise two people with starters, main course and a decent bottle of wine should have no trouble coming in under 50 Euros, although lunch times they have a special for 10 Euros a person!!.. portions err on the large size and are both filling yet reasonably priced, ask the chef for an 'Adrian's Balti' (an Extra hot chicken Phahl with nan Bread without rice).. as not seeing my order on the menu the chef made it to order and it is apparently catching on well..
The food is always cooked to order and served quickly, service is friendly without being over bearing and all in all a great 'little spot' that will have you soul searching if you want to tell other people about it or not.. already on busy days its wise to book ahead and this is with just the Spanish clients filling the place.. This has to be one of the best kept culinary secrets in ibiza..
A small tip, the Nan breads are massive.. in other restaurants they would cover them in tomatoes and cheese and call it a family sized pizza..!
And that's it, for me & my wife probably the best curry restaurant in Ibiza, bar none.. I'm actually glad its so hard to find.. means I have a chance of getting a seat the next time my wife and I go back! read more
