I am so glad he directed me to Dr. Bozuk. He is an artist & a great person. He was very personable, very informative, highly skilled, assured, and "available" .... even gave me his personal mobile number in case there may be an urgent question or issue before or afterwards. That is rare. This same hernia repair was attempted 1.5 years prior by a Dr. Edward Alfrey at Marin Health - he was a disaster. Stay away!! His "repair" failed completely, after obliterating my stomach & belly button. The hernia came back with a vengeance, the size of a tennis ball. Plus he was incredibly rude, condescending and dismissive throughout, like he hated his job, hated his patients and just wanted you gone. When I went back post-surgery to show him the recurrence, he told me "You'll just have to live with it." ... "it" being a tennis ball sized hernia. Only afterwards did I read many other "horror story" reviews of Dr. Edward Alfrey. Happy Ending: The next referring surgeon (mentioned above) immediately pronounced the hernia life threatening and referred me to Dr. Bozuk. In Feb '26 Dr. Bozuk used laparascopic surgery to go under the abdominal wall and close up with mesh, etc, from beneath. He also found two other small "budding" hernias he took care of as well. Surgery took 2.5 hours, I was out of the hospital 1.5 hours after completion of surgery. Results - like I never had a hernia. Nightmare ended. I feel very grateful and lucky to have found Dr. Bozuk. Highly recommended.

He diagnosed the problem as ear wax, and without any effort to dislodge the clog via warm water, he went straight to microsuction, digging in the ear and roughly yanking my head around to get a better angle. Not once did he ask if I was comfortable. When I told him that he was hurting me, he pushed my head back down, leaving a visible scratch on my face. I finally told him that (now that I knew the cause of the problem) I would treat it with carbamide peroxide and convinced him to put down his instruments. He made a follow-up appointment for two weeks. Two weeks later, my ear was still problematic, so I went back, this time accompanied by an observer. With another person in the room, he was on much better behavior, comporting himself appropriately and not grabbing my face as he had the first time. Completely unprofessional and a miserable experience overall. I understand that it's fun to dig stuff out of ears, but the ENT needs to keep in mind that the ears are attached to a human.

The only pro: he prescribed antibiotics and corticosteroids that eventually eliminated my cough (although sinusitis still remains...) My experience overall with Lonergan was disappointing. When I interacted with him during each visit, he was rushed and unconcerned about my issues. It seems as if he always tried to send me home just to follow up later a month later - milking my insurance, copay, and time. When I asked clarifying questions about the unusual, 3 week prescription of antibiotics, he never called me back and instead left brief, ambiguous responses on My Health Online. After getting a CT scan given my lingering sinus issues, he wouldn't explain what the test results meant and instead told me to see him in person again. It was at this point I no longer wanted to continue with Lonergan and would not recommend him.
