Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Steve Morris was not so stellar. He seems to take a very cookie cutter approach to diagnosis and treatment. (The reason I prefer naturopaths to medical MDs is that I expect them to be more holistic in their approach.) Not too long into my first visit he handed me a lifestyle sheet, essentially an eating and exercise plan, which he said that he recommends to all his patients. He did this prior to understanding my medical history or current condition. When I told him that I was experiencing insomnia, he told me it was from drinking coffee and eating heavy meals at dinner. He pronounced this without asking any additional questions about frequency, when it started, changes in lifestyle, etc. When I told him I was having headaches, he told me it was from dehydration. Again, he made this pronouncement without asking any additional questions like where does it hurt, what type of pain, etc. The nail in the coffin for me was that he gave me iodine pills as a supplement for hypothyroidism. My previous naturopath had never done this so I did some research when I got home. Iodine is only recommended for hypothyroidism when it's caused by iodine deficiency. In fact, excess iodine can make hypothyroidism worse so supplements are not recommended if your iodine levels are normal. Dr. Morris never tested my iodine levels. In addition, iodine is especially not recommended if you have an auto-immune form of hypothyroidism, which I have, which I told him. Cookie cutter approach and lack of thorough investigation is bad enough; prescribing treatment contraindicated for my disease is unacceptable.

I had MD's at both small and large clinics, ARNP also, but still nothing compares to having a naturopath take care of you. Unfortunately I moved more into the city and it became too much of a commute to keep going up north. The clinic is quant with a small staff so is personable and you can expect to deal with the same people consistently, and the clinic space is tucked away in a nice area in Shoreline so easy to get to. Dr. Hancock is very peaceful person and I swear she could have been a great mental health doctor, because she is so compassionate with listening and really hearing what you as a patient have to say. Sh always had great suggestions and many supplements you can purchase straight out of other office instead of getting it online. For prescriptions, she went above and beyond looking into what medication would be covered with my insurance, which was not so great an insurance company and she had the patience to be a preferred provider with them, and in so doing the footwork and research she had taken some of the stress and burden off my shoulders. She was also really accommodating when I needed to come in for a few quick appointments after work which was cutting close to her closing time. I couldn't say enough nice things about Dr. Hancock and if I move to more north Seattle again I'd return to her practice in a heartbeat.

I have to admit, I was very hesitant, after all, it seemed few people had anything good to say about Chiropractors in general and this alternative style of practice made me all the more skeptical. I went, more to humor my girlfriend than anything else. Was I in for a shock... During the initial consultation, Dr. Hoeller told me she could see my head was crooked. I thought she was a kook! Then, she took me to the mirror and sure enough, my head was indeed tilted when compared to the axis of my body. I accused her of playing mind-tricks on me. She simply said, "Just take a look at some older photos of yourself, you'll see... your head will be tilted." Then, with an incredible show of patience she explained the body's relationship with the Atlas (first vertebrae under the skull). She explained if the Atlas is off just a tiny bit, the body compensates to keep the relatively heavy head centered over the rest of the spine. Your shoulders will tilt, your hips will tilt and therein lies the problem that is causing the back pain. When she wasn't in the room, I pulled out my driver's license and sure enough, my head was tilted in the photo. An x-ray and a couple of adjustments later and I was feeling great! That was over 10 years ago and now I only see her a couple times a year when I can feel I'm out of alignment. I have gone from being Dr. Hoellers biggest skeptic to one of her greatest advocates. I have advised many to go see her, and I understand their skepticism, but it is their loss should they not see her. The friends that go, rave about her and the results they receive. I keep a stash of business cards in my desk to give to those that are in pain. I feel forever indebted to Dr. Holler, she has truly made a difference in my life.

I was lifting 8" cast iron pipe overhead, working on the 100 foot tall concrete building. I credit Dr. Hoeller with keeping me on the job, and active with my outdoor activities, skiing, backpacking, softball, body surfing and football. I'm now 57 years old, and I'm still hiking the high country for days and lighting up the slopes at Whistler. I now know ten others that I have sent to her, kids, friends, brother and sisters. Please save yourself some grief and have your surgery done elsewhere…read more Doctor Brakstad made a careless mistake on my surgery and caused me to be in the hospital for 2 months instead of a week for an ileostomy. When I was released he promised me I'd be put back together in 6-8 weeks. So at the 8 week mark, I called him and now he wants me to get a colonoscopy before I get put back together. So I had the colonoscopy April 1st and I call doctor Brakstad's office every week to try to schedule my final surgery and they say he's not here and that they'll take a message and get back to me. Well it's been 3 weeks and they haven't gotten back to me. Now I have to go through the hassle of finding somewhere else to put my intestines back together. I'm lucky I have such an understanding girlfriend.

The horrible performance of his staff drove me to find someone else to perform my surgery. When making appointment, I told the person I spoke with they would need to get hold of archived records from my earlier breast cancer treatment. She said, no problem, they would arrange that. Arrived for first meeting/consultation with Dr. Brakstad - no records were on hand. Left that meeting (on a Friday) having been told that on Monday I would hear from the plastic surgeon he recommends, and that we would move forward with scheduling surgery for the following week. By Wednesday morning, having heard nothing, I call the plastic surgeon's office to see if I can move things along. They have never heard of me, and tell me next week is now booked up. She'll check with Brakstad's office and get back to me. By end of that day, still have heard nothing. From anyone. I guess it's time to go back to the drawing board and find someone else to remove the cancerous tumor from my breast. I sure do hope the two weeks I've wasted on this disorganized operation are not the window of time when cancer cells will have a chance to migrate to other parts of my body.
